We stayed at the Strand Yangon just before it closed for renovations this summer. This is exactly how we imagined classic and classy south east Asian hotels. The hotels exudes old world charm and frontier market intrigue. the staff is top and we had some great meals at the hotel venues. It is useful to add that what was absolutely... More

Wonderful experience at this hotel. The rooms were very large, the breakfasts were in a charming area with wonderful service. Food was very good. You could feel the air history of Yangon in this hotel but the hotel itself was very comfortable. A great location that allows you to walk to most of Yangon's sites. Hope to return soon!

A lovely stay with really friendly staff. The rooms are well appointed and will be refinished soon. I fully recommend the afternoon tea which was tasty and a lovely treat. Followed up by a relaxing massage that finished off a fabulous trip to a friendly and welcoming country in style.

. . . until around 1 November 2016. Nonetheless, a small cadeau opened the door sufficiently to glimpse certain parts not yet emptied of furnishings. A splendid hotel this is with hopeful waiting for the completed refurbishment wherein a long awaited tea will finally occur. The exterior entrigues especially when viewed from the nearby flyover amidst the adjacent Strand Road's... More

An excellent hotel in Yangon. We stayed her with our parents in March 2016 and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is an all suite hotel, built around a central atrium. The hotel has a classic, old world charm with an air of exploration! Suites are vast with very high ceiling height giving a huge sense of space. The main... More

This celebrated hotel was a really fun place to stay. The overall vibe is British Colonial elegance and simplicity from its heyday. We enjoyed the authentic feel of the hotel, with floor butlers, older elevators and old fashioned keys that you leave with the butler while you are out. We found the service staff to be excellent and very accommodating.... More

To fully appreciate The Strand, you have to understand: 1) Yangoon is really really hot; 2) the traffic is insane. That means you don't want to have to take taxis and you can't walk very far without needing a break so pick your hotel location carefully. The Strand is a great option if you're looking for a tranquil place with... More

The building is absolutely stunning, the service is superb and the location was perfect for us. This was not a “hotel” stay, this was well beyond that, the place and service distinguish the Strand from any other “hotel”. The staff were very friendly, helpful and keen to help. From reception, through to the Bar, the restaurant, the café, the Butlers... More

The Strand is the only real hotel in Yangon still operating that is a direct throwback to the British Colonial period. This was one of three hotels that three brothers founded - the others are the Eastern & Orient in Penang and the iconic Raffles in Singapore... so the hotel certainly comes with good pedigree. Now admittedly I stayed late... More

We stopped here for a beer and a wander around the public spaces on a very hot and steamy day. The bar was wonderful with attentive staff, my wife was shocked but pleasantly so to discover she could smoke at the bar, how civilised. The local draft beer was good and a well made Pims rounded of a short but... More
