POSITIVES – For relatively expensive Yangon is a decent 3 star hotel in good location with friendly and helpful staff. NEGATIVES – Not cheap at £31 ppn for two. SUMMARY – Overall I was pleased enough with my 4 night stay for £126 including breakfast. DETAILS Staying for 4 nights in June 2016. My 7th floor room was large enough... More

As my usual hotel i stay at in downtown Yangon was closed for renovations I decided to stay at the East Hotel in June 2016. East Hotel is on Sule Pagoda Rd across the road from the Sule Shang-ri-la. Location is great. Checkin was flawless and my room - both times - where comfortable. Shower, hairdryer, flat screen TV, and... More

Yes you get plenty of free bottled water, there's a fridge at the end of each floor. The bed, ac, hot water kettle, room safe, all fine. The room is quite small, and now the bizarre part: the shower, like an afterthought, is like some sort of full-view phone booth design right in the room, and the shower door sort... More

The East hotel is in a great location. Just a few minutes walk from the Sule Pagoda and trendy new eateries and the Muslim and Indian quarters of town. The hotel has been renovated to look like the modern 'boutique hotels' that abound in the west. Unfortunately the rooms are a bit strange! funny bathrooms with dodgy plumbing, with weird... More

We stayed in this hotel, only for a couple of hours as we have a flight out after midnight and had to vacate our previous hotel in the morning. Rooms are very small, but the shower is hot and the AC is freezing cold. Didnt use any of the other facilities, but it is clean, close to everything, and cheap

Very good location, close to Scott market, Sule Pagoda, 999 Shan Noodles etc. Rooms are simple but functional. Breakfast is decent. Staff is friendly and helpful. Internet speed overall a bit slow , but it is normal for Yangon. There is an in-house massage Spa with good service. Good option for budget travellers.

Located on the main road to Sule Pagoda, many Yangon highlight are in walkable distance as well as Chinatown. Much traffic on the street. Lack on english knowledge but very friendly. WiFi very bad. The two cinemas next door atract many youngsters in the weekend

After reading all the positive ratings online, I was dissappointed with the place. But of course beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder... Rooms are gloomy and feel like small prison cells with that structure of the window frames. Curtains are not sliding properly, no hot water (they said they fixed that again), our AC unit was making lot... More

Excellent stay at east hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room with comfortable bed and all necessary amenties. Good breakfast. Considering the central location and the other options in Yangon, either expensive or rather basic, East is good value.
