Alamanda is set on a quiet, rarely trafficed, sreet, about half way from the airport and central Yangon. Facilities are more than acceptable in the mid-range accomodation offerings. Front office and restaurant staff are brilliant. The facility is set within a well maintained tropical garden. Well recommended.
Well-thought out rooms - Lean but sufficient. Our family room was appointed with a small safe in the closet (big enough for iPads, not for bigger laptops), large mineral water bottles, an electric kettle with mugs and instant coffee/tea bags. The kids loved the mosquito nets. We were there in the rainy season but did not experience mosquitos (I've had dengue before and would have been nervous). No bathtub. Many resident expats know and recommend the restaurant here - it is cash-only, in a pleasant, high-roofed structure without walls, and good local or western dishes are available. Service was usually very nice and open to communication, if a little inconsistent sometimes in the restaurant - but this is Myanmar, so we just sat back and enjoyed it.
Very charming little place with attention to details in the room. The staff was very friendly, the location was quiet. The room was very nice with windows all around a spacious balcony and a spacious bathroom. The hotel has a nice old feel to it, and I very much enjoyed my stay. The only downside I thought was that the attached restaurant is french and only serves quite high priced european food, while I was looking forward to some of the delicious local dishes.
This is the fourth visit to Alamanda Inn. This is my favorite spot in Yangon. I love it here. It is a great meeting spot (the on-site restaurant is excellent) and the garden makes the place enchanting. If you love nature, even in a concrete city, experience it here. It is a restful place on many levels. The staff is not only pleasant, and responsive, but they enjoy working here... they have said so. That adds to the positive atmosphere. The beds are comfortable, the breakfast delicious and generous, the prices are very reasonable. Additionally, we found our questions regarding our booking, promptly answered.
A lovely hotel - a little oasis of green and calm. Beautiful style buildings and great breakfast. Comfy beds and good bathroom. We stayed in the family room which felt spacious even with all 4 of us and our luggage.
