Detailed Reviews
After a very poor previous night in Bangkok it was a relief to walk into Scott@31st; even from the outside it looked appealing. The staff were pleasant and welcomed me with a chilled orange juice. The place has stylish, characterful decor and is spotlessly clean. My bed in a shared room (which I had to myself for all 6 nights)was roomy with a comfortable mattress, crisp white bedding, good lockable storage space and thoughtfully located light switches. The aircon was quiet and there was excellent wifi access throughout. The shared bathroom is smart, clean and well equipped. The location is good - close to Sule pagoda, the train station and many places to eat; I walked to Schwedagon pagoda in 40 minutes but the staff are happy to arrange a taxi if needed. I shall be returning to Yangon and would not stay anywhere but Scott@31st.

Nice hostel. More like a B&B with hostel setup. Room is clean but tiny moving space. Toilet looks dirty but its not, more like looking old. Very good strong pressure hot shower. Not the typical hostel atmosphere. Quiet and chill vibe. I like the lobby settings.
Nice friendly and helpful staff.
I'm get to shower after checking out before my flight which is nice.
Its located off the little india district with plenty of photo opportunities. Close to train station and 10 mins from Bogyoke market.
1hr away on busy traffic from Aung Mingalar Highway bus station, 9000kyats via taxi to the hostel.

We stayed here 4 nights in March and we think it is a good choice, overall. The hostel is clean and beautifully designed, in contrast to most of the places in Yangon. Beds were super comfortable, despite being too short (if you're 185cm+ you might be too tall ;-). Breakfast consists of toasts and jam or cereals as well as coffee or tea. Basic but better than nothing - fresh fruit would have been cool, though. The location is perfect and generally, staff were all really kind.
Two main things that could be improved: we only met one member of staff actually speaking good English. This made it very hard to get advice on where to go or how to get there (which isn't always simple in Myanmar). Equally, while there were travel books for China etc., there wasn't anything about Myanmar or Yangon. So don't count on tips for the area, Also this place seems to be kind of missing a nice place to hang out. There is sort of a café downstairs but it was always completely quiet (no music or anything) and felt a little uncomfortable. Also, it didn't seem like you were supposed to bring any own drinks or snacks there...

I was happy that we find something to spend all the day inside... I need a rest, can't walk for long distance, than we get 3bed room, but never could to used by 3. The cabinet was broken, the walls was dirty, after cleaning the bathroom, it was fine.
It is visible, that they design a very nice hipster concept, in common spaces is up to date, but our room and bathroom was the opposite. There is a time to makeover the rooms.

The location is good as it is just a walking distance from junction mall, park and some other famous pagodas.
Rooms were clean but they dont set rules to travelers unlike other hostel, like phone calls timing- my experience was my roommate was still talking to phone until dawn result was I need to check out the next morning and transfer to different hostel just to have a quite sleep. If maybe they just set rules then maybe my roommate was reminded of some room ethics, anyhow its not their major fault.
Staff are nice tho toilet is not regularly maintain.

Pros: Location is excellent and the facilities were fine.
Cons: Our room was a little dirty; dirt accumulated in corners and a few insects. Nothing major though (by my standards at least). Breakfast was fine but simple. Unfortunately the staff were unable to help us book or even research a bus to Chaung Thar Beach, something I imagined would be pretty straightforward in their line of business. That is my biggest complaint from the stay. Still, if you don't need much help with travel arrangements then it will likely prove an acceptable place to stay.

This hostel is located bang in the centre of downtown Yangon on 31st street and you can walk around to the main attraction of Sule Pagoda, the markets, explore the various alleys and sample the street food. Perfect for a solo traveler. It's got a great vibe to it's decor and a small cafe in the reception area. I booked a day before and got a great deal of $10 in a six room dorm. Since I was arriving very early in the morning, the manager gave me a bed in an empty dorm so other guests don't get disturbed. Each room has a key card to enter and the same card also works in the locker. provided below the bed. Dorms are capsule style with curtains but not very spacious for a tall person, beds are comfortable, sheets clean. Showers are a little cramped and not the best water pressure. Very friendly staff, speak good English and will give you directions for area nearby.
I would recommend this for the location

This place us not far from Junction City Mall you can walk for 3 minutes.
There are so many restaurants around here including Pizza Company and KFC. Scott got so beautiful design both outside and inside. Nice service. Nice and clean room. But I don't like the way from the main road, it's a little bit dark, narrow and no footpath. Finally it's so valuable to stay here.

Great location, friendly staff and lower cost, very suitable for solo traveler.
From the hostel, you can walk to Sule Pagoda, Boygoke Market and even Botataung Pagoda. The staff can give you clear direction/map as they can speak English well.
