In the last 2 months we have stayed several nights at the Eratap, Havannah and Tamanu. In our view Tamanu has the best food. The staff at all 3 resorts are delightful. One disappointment with the Tamanu is that it feels a bit like it is simply a bunch of villas with a restaurant. But there is no feel of it having a heart or nucleus. It is also very windswept so the area between the beach and the cottages is a bit stark. We would not have been happy if we got a villa in the row behind the beachfront villas. Although the beach looked reasonably unspoilt, on the 200 metre walk from our room to the restaurant, we filled a large rubbish bag with plastic junk washed up. Our fear is that as Vanuatu becomes increasingly dominated by Chinese developers and tourists, the environment could quickly be destroyed. There is also a danger that the Vanuatans might become less welcoming as they start to feel exploited.

Thanks for the review Graham We are glad you liked the food. Im sorry if the weather was a little overcast during your stay with us. On the usual tropical day its hard to beat a walk along Tamanau Beach. its probably what sets us aport from other resorts as we have 3 km of beach to enjoy, not just what is in front, we like the fact we have out own little ocean front walking/running track/ Like everywhere in the world, plastics in the ocean are an increasing problem and Im glad you highlighted the problem caused by the larger nations and their recycling habits. Plastics travel many thousands of miles and the vast majority come from other countries. We support local recycling and education initiatives and we are proud to say that Vanuatu and Fiji are amongst those leading way globally in cleaning up our environment. As you note, our beaches are for the most part, pristine in Vanuatu and we ant to keep them that way. Thanks again and hope to see you back.

Tamanu on the beach is simply amazing. My boys, best friend and I stayed in the 2 bed villa from April 1-7. It was spacious, clean and modern with amazing amenities. It had a gorgeous elevated bath, comfortable beds and each room had its own range of 400 movies and shows On the TV & an en-suite. We had a private plunge pool. The resort itself is on a breathtaking beach with warm water (tip: need reef shoes, the resort will cover you). The resort pool is lovely as is the day spa. The restaurant is amazing! Chef Maor is incredible. The service there is second to none, (much gratitude to Fiona, Gladys, Nicholas, Alvin, Mary in the spa, and, of course, chef.) We had the best holiday ever and we all want to come back soon. Vanuatu is paradise & Tamanu is the jewel in the crown!

Has been a few years since I was last at Tamanu and it’s still the best resort, and restaurant in Vila. The resort has recently been upgraded with plunge pools to a number of the villas, all villas have been tastefully refurbished in an island/Hamptons beach house blend. A new kid zone currently under construction. The quality of the restaurant dining equally matches resort. The food is amazing with a large selection. The location is ideal for a romantic getaway with the long perfect white sandy beach.

We have always liked Tamanu and consider it one of the nicest places to have lunch. The food is fresh and changes depending on what’s available. Service is good and a reasonable wine selection and a good cocktail list The setting is picturesque and changes depending on the tides Well worth the visist

We stayed a few nights at the Tamanu on the Beach. It was one of our highlights staying in Vanuatu. We tried a night in a coral wall villa and another beach front large studio. The food was amazing. The staff were so lovely, a special shout out to Jane and Nicholas who were so warm and helpful. The beach does have the prevailing wind so not a great snorkel or swim area, but if a gentle breeze is actually a good thing as you sit on the beach or pool. Not ideal for families with young children as it’s about relaxing here. This is a great venue for wedding or couples for sure. It’s been voted many local awards for a good reason. Having a private bonfire, nibbling on canapés after sunset was a highlight. Thank you Tamanu! We will be back.

Thanks Steve it was a pleasure having you. We are famous for our large whitesand beach and our sunset walks and that breeze is an absolute lifesaver in summer. For kids the good news is we have our Kokonas Kids Club now open and the only year round 5 star family friendly resort in Vanuatu. Glad you will be back and we will have one of bonfires ready just for you. Tropical regards Bong
