No frills resort, basic but beach is good for long walks, beach combing, swimming and just chilling out. The island is very conveniently accessible as a boat regularly ferries guests from Nukualofa wharf to resort and back, boat ride is 10-15 minutes. The resort is swamped by locals and foreign tourists but no problem the island has nice beautiful beach... More

A 10 minute boat trip from Nufu 'alofa, Tonga to spend a day on Pangaimotu Island. On a sunny day with a slight breeze, it's like paradise. You can relax, swim, join in activities such as snorkelling, volleyball or beach walking. Lunch is very tasty.

I chose coming here over Fafa mostly because it was cheaper. It was about 45pa'anga and that included the boat and lunch. There was only about 10 other people in the boat over with me in the morning and I saw very few people who were already on the island overnight. I got off the boat and immediately started my... We were on Tongatapu for a week, and spent a day here. It's a fifteen minute ferry ride and costs 45 Tongan for a return trip including lunch. Not much to do there but chill. Some good snorkelling and the beach there is really nice. Definitely worth checking out!!

Owners Earl and Ana (big mama) are just the best people to have ever walked this earth. The staff are amazing, polite, gentle, and fun! Snorkel around the wrecks, walk the beaches, play with the cats and dogs, swim with the fish, lounge in the sun, sit at the bar, play pool, darts, volleyball....only 15 minutes from the mainland by... South Seas travellers, tourists and adventurers always have a romantic vision what what an island paradise should resemble. They have read Melville, Stevenson and Twain and are passionate about any discoveries that endorse their fantasies. Fat Mama's Restaurant and Bar on delightful Pangaimotu Island is well worthy of topping the list of truly South Pacific images...the golden beaches, coral sands,... More

Set just 10 minutes out of Nuku'alofa it's easy to get to and one of the only places in the Kingdom open on a Sunday. Little bit pricey and food service can be slow but not a bad day out. You can walk around the island but take reef shoes or walk carefully as at different tides the surface changes... More

We went here on a Sunday as all shops etc are closed and what a great day. The lunch that came with the return boat trip at Fat Mamas was very good (I had the fish and chips and would recommend). The beach is great to park up on and relax for the day. The swimming is great at low... More

Visited this island on a Sunday. 45TP (per person) included a return ferry trip and lunch at "Big Mama's" which we thought was quite reasonable. The snorkelling along from the shipwreck (head right from the bar) was really enjoyable. Along the edge of the small reef, quite close to the beach were lots of colourful sponges, some coral and loads... More
