I spent 2 months at Winnies B&B as a solo travelling medical student and have not regretted a single day! It is located only a 5 min walk from Vaiola Hospital so you can save money on commutes and only a 10 min taxi ride into the town centre.
Liz and Mark were exceptional hosts who were generous with their time and willing to show me around the city centre whenever they were available. They have an amazing knowledge of the local community and would always suggest the best tourist spots to explore the local culture, landmarks as well as best places to snorkel, site see or just relax.
Their rooms are fully refurbished, modern and clean! You have a personal private bathroom (for any stomach misadventures), and an amazing shower. The beds can be split into twin beds for travellers/students staying in pairs and is cleaned every day (Except Sunday) with a change of linen every few days. They also provide complimentary wi-fi! What more can you ask for?
There was always a plate of fruits for breakfast and laundry was done every few days so you only needed to pack the essentials! From time to time, Liz would bake or cook up some amazing meals which was an absolute bonus! Local restaurants around Winnies B&B are cheap, convenient (about 5-7 min walk) and come in large servings so you will never be hungry!
Throughout my stay, there was a family feel which was much appreciated given my long stay in Tonga. If you want to fully enjoy your medical elective or stay in comfort and experience what Tonga has to offer, you cannot go past Winnies B&B!!

My husband and I were very comfortable at Winnies b&b. The bed and pillows were just right, very comfy and clean.Liz was lovely, she helped us out with taxis, tours,also payment of tours so we didnt have to carry bulk cash. Sofia kept our room spotless, topped up coffee, sugar, milk, butter, jam, cereals and gave us lovely fresh fruit. Thank you so much.

I along with my team, had the privilege of staying with Liz and Mark in their beautiful facility for a seven week period.
They welcomed us into their home, and we became part of the family, even Patsy the dog accepted us as well. Liz and Mark looked after our every need from sickness, interacting on our behalf with the local tour guides and recommending the places to shop and eat. Also, from time to time, Liz would provide baking and Sunday meals which were gratefully accepted. They went over and above what would normally be considered to be hospitality, such was the kindness that they showed throughout our stay. It was an emotional time when we said our goodbyes, such was the closeness of our relationship to Liz, Mark and the family as a whole.
In closing, we would highly recommend Winnie's BnB!

We had the pleasure of staying at Winnies B and B for a recent holiday in Tonga. How neat it was to see an old house lovingly restored, and in recent years, extended by family members of the late Winnie. Liz and Mark are excellent hosts, backed up by the hard working Sophia always there to take care of our room and needs. The King Bed was very comfortable, the kitchenette met our needs and the roomy bathroom added to our comfort. The daily breakfast, including fresh fruit was a bonus. All in all, we had a very enjoyable week. Staying with such friendly people and seeing locals providing such a service was heart-warming. This place is real value for money.

We stayed for 10 nights at Winnies in a superior room. The room was large, well equipped, spotless and comfortable. The continental breakfast was very nice with fresh fruit, cereal and toast. Winnies has lovely outside areas and within walking distance of a chinese restaurant and various food shops. All of the guests were happy to have a chat re their travels and Tonga
Winnies is a better option than the hotels as the rooms are spacious, well priced and an excellent host, Liz. Liz is very helpful and friendly. We had many interesting conversations with Liz on various topics.
Overall we cannot fault our stay and Winnies and would happily stay there again.

I would absolutely recommend Winnies B&B as a place to stay in Nuku'alofa. The rooms are modern and well equipped. I had a room with a kitchen which was great. The hosts Liz and Mark are super friendly and helpful. The B&B has a real family feel, so was just so relaxing to come home to after work. It was super quiet, super safe and very clean. Liz often surprised me with treats from her kitchen. Thanks to you and your family, I really enjoyed staying with you.

I was in Tonga to be close to the hospital and enjoy all the nice amenities of NZ. En-suite, Wi-Fi, super comfortable bed, fridge, microwave, jug, toaster.. everything you need for a comfortable stay. Liz and Mark are the most accommodating hosts. Fell in love with their gentle friendly dog. Liz helped organise a day tour of the island and answered all my pesky questions. She gave me so many hot tips. Best to book in advance as this gem gets full fast. Family run business. Cannot rate highly enough. Can’t wait to come back!

Breakfast provided & rooms are cleaned everyday. Comfy beds that makes you fall off to sleep in seconds after a long tiring day.

Travelled to Tonga for a family wedding. Winnie's was placed near the wedding and ticked all the boxes. Husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend to other travellers. The room was exceptionally clean, daily breakfast was a bonus. Thank you Liz !!!

Where does one begin with the many positives that ensured our stay was perfect on all levels. Our room was spotlessly clean. Fresh seasonal fruit of various types,tea,coffee,milk,bottled water,cereal,bread and various spreads.Outstanding help from Liz, booking taxis and sharing her vast knowledge of all that Tonga offers...and there's alot. The bed was the best we've ever slept in, and we have slept in a few. This is an example of how to run a B&B. Far superior than many of the 5 star hotels we have stayed in globally ..did I mention the shower...its the best. Looking forward to a return visit. There's lots more to explore...
