We stayed at the guesthouse during the all time we spent in Niue. Ensuite rooms, 3 in total, sharing the living room and the kitchen. Milk, coffee/tea and sugar provided. Towels and lines as well. Fan available in the room, working efficiently. As a guesthouse it's perfect as a backpacker place. The family run work also for Air NewZealand and that helped us a lot to easily manage our pick up and drop off at the airport as we were on delay at our arrival and we didn't know that the check in for the departure closes really early compared to all the other airports around the world ( they do everything manually and they need time to process all the data and luggages ). Kitchen amenities provided, hot water never missed, strategic position ( at walking distance from all the place available in alofi ). 5$ p.p one way from/to the airport …
large spacious house , ensuites in all rooms... the kitchen was small and no bench space..one element on the oven didnt work, and when it did it was very fickle..nice and clean throughout. bloody neighbours dogs were a pain in the middle of the night, barking, fighting.could do with a few more power points but luckily we took a couple of multi box's.DVD player didnt work..very convenient for shops and crazy uga cafe, and dining spots. and swimming at Utuko. new fans in all rooms..nice big fridge. we would recommend it again..
the bed smells like an old mattress (although it' appears new), the toilet, shower etc is filthy.. Electric fan next to bedside doesn't have a cover, a spare one is available but very rusty. Was gonna have a cuppa and toast in the morning but.. Let the pic speak for itself! The manager was lovely though. After an overnight stay, I shifted to another accommodation.
We tried to book Matavai resort but couldn't get a room for the whole time so ended up booking Pelenis as they would take us for the whole time. We are so pleased we did it is the most central accommodation in Niue very reasonable and very clean. The only comment would be check your beds as we had 2 single beds, not that great for a romantic getaway ! The shared lounge/ kitchen was spacious and comfortable and nice to hang with some interesting people if you wanted to.
Peleni's is very clean and centrally located. Rooms serviced daily with fresh towels provided everyday which is fantastic in a humid environment. Nice porch looking out onto grassy expanse then the 'main' road which is good for watching the world go by. We only cooked basic foods but the kitchen was tidy and seemed well provided for. Only thing to be aware of the noisy chickens and dogs but that's all over the island. They can also sort you with a rental car if you ask ahead of time. Only downside was no push bikes on offer.
