We enjoyed our stay here - four nights to start and then a fifth night coming back through Bogota. While Chapinero is a bit aways from the centro historico (15-20 minutes, about 20K COP taxi), it is a relatively chilled-out place to stay. Close to Zona G (restaurant neighborhood) and some decent places to walk. The staff here is super and their on-premises Restaurant Turo has what you need. Really nice breakfast buffet (included). We would definitely return.
We felt very safe in the neighborhood. While the neighborhood doesn't have a lot of personality there are a lot of trendy restaurants nearby so finding a place to eat was easy. The room was comfortable and spacious. My only complaint is that I wish the water in the shower got hotter. The hotel has a nice spread for breakfast but they should improve their juice selection. The juice is very watered down. Lastly, the front desk staff were not friendly at all.
I stayed at Vilar America for the last 2 nights of a 2-months Central America journey. This was the best value for money accommodation I had for the whole trip. Yes, there was some maintenance work going on and in places it was affected visually, but it in no way affiliated my stay. I immediately got into a good mood at check in as the receptionist was refreshingly lively and positive, still professional. When I entered my room I was sure they had made mistakes, surely I hadn’t booked an apartment with separate bedroom, lounge and kitchen? Well, I wasn’t complaining! In short, my room was amazing. King size bed, large bathroom, sitting area for a big family, complete blackout curtains, perfect temperature and no outside noise. And kitchen. I just wanted to move in. The service I received was exceptional, I wish all hotels had staff with the same positive attitude. Nothing was a problem for them and special mention to a young female receptionist with glasses, she has a talent of lighten up the world. I had laundry done at a reasonable cost. I was able to keep my luggage the whole day as I had a late flight - check out time was at the generous time of 13.00 hrs. Breakfast was included for me but I only had coffee as usually it’s all I want in the morning. The breakfast looked good though and the restaurant area was very neat and clean. Bogotá is a city that deserves more than 2 days, there is so much to see and do within the city and around. I guess that Hotel Vilar America needs to put up with me for at least a week next time! Be back soon. …
Pros The accommodation was clean and tidy and the staff had a nice feeling and vibe! The food was good and buffet selection pleasant Cons The room was just ok Overall For the price I would recommend to others
Excellent breakfast. Large , very clean room. Helpful staff who understood English. Best hotel we've stayed in for the price. Close to major bus route. Decent area of Bogota. Staff will arrange airport taxi.
