Detailed Reviews
A home away from home! Nothing was too much trouble and I’m very high maintenance! They adapted the menu to be gluten free and extended our check out time because I felt unwell. The shower is awesome and the rooms are big. Most of all the staff were a huge support when we had to change our flights abruptly due to a family emergency. Thank you to Gabriel and everyone at Hotel Regina!

I stayed in the Regina for three nights before starting a G Adentures tour through Colombia.
So firstly the good points.
You simply won't get a better location to be fair. It is literally around the corner from the Gold Museum and only a short 5 or 6 minute walk from Plaza Bolivar and the Botero Museum.
If you leave the hotel going left outside the front door and left immediately when you reach the main thoroughfare Jimenez, there are loads of good bars and restaurants on the other side of the road in all the side streets there.
Secondly, its very friendly and safe in the hotel. The front desk were very helpful and approachable.
Thirdly, the room and bathroom were spotless and the bed was very comfortable
Now a few things that were maybe not so good.
It is noisy. I had a room on the second floor and could hear every word from the cafe and reception on the ground floor. Also the doors to the rooms close very loudly so if anyone has an early checkout or late check in you'll jump out of your skin in the bed!
Secondly, the breakfast was grim. You have to order off a set menu so you can't have less or what you don't like and more of what you do.
Overall though, the most important things...location, cleanliness and security, well it ticks those boxes.

Very good place for a tourist stay in Bogota. I would rather call it a boutique hotel. The advantages include an excellent location, comfortable rooms (we used a rather small single room and a standard double room), an intimate cafe and bar with a breakfast function, and most importantly, the service of the reception and housekeeping staff. I am grateful to the head of the reception (the lady, sorry, I don't remember her name) for her excellent advice regarding sightseeing, safety, communication skills, and creating a very nice atmosphere during my stay. Everything was great for us. Thank you and we will definitely come back to you.

Stayed here with a group at end of tour and had booked for 2 extra nights then on my own. Initially hotel seemed very nice. Lovely design nice room. First issue was sharing with a girl i met on the tour a) bathroom door was sliding but no handle to assist closing nightmare had to agree to leave open at night otherwise would have woken each other. Sink was in bedroom and wouldnt drain- this did get fixed the next day. Lift out of order on several occasions and staff thought it amusing that we had to walk from 2nd floor to 8th floor regularly. No apologies or nitices put on lift. On the first day we got locked in the hotel as the magnetic system on main door broke and the side door wouldnt open either. Was fixed but we were all late heading out for our various activities. On the second day i xame back to find bedroom dior wide open beds stripped and joined to one as i was staying on, dirty linen on the floor and no one in sight.when i went to complain about my room being open and my stuff just there for the taking i was told to be quiet as they had gone off to another floor to get linen. But as no linen appeared??? I was very upset as the manager as well laughed when i complained- once my tour rep spoke to them they offered me a special breakfast which i declined as the point i was making was about the safety of my items. Then the door key wouldnt work and bed linen did not appear clean but manager tried to fob off as being due to the heavy traffic. At this stage i gave up. They then gave me a complimentary bag of coffee which i p ok politely declined as i dont drink it and am travelling for 10 weeks so dont want to carry it. Later that evening i discovered my travel starbucks cup missing despite all the reassurances about how safe the hotel was. I told them if it was not found i wanted a new one which to be fair to them i did get the next day. It disappoints me to write such a bad review as breakfast and the ladies who served it was lovely. The location of the hotel is excellent and the design and style of the hotel great. There needs to be a lot of customer service training done with the front of house staff and the maintenance upkeep needs to be improved. The wifi was not great either. Hopefully my experience is not the normal.

I was part of a group of 5 people who booked rooms in this hotel for the night of the 5th November. On the morning of the 5th, I received notification that my booking had been cancelled due to "water". My friends' bookings remained.
I pointed out that I was part of a group but they were completely unhelpful, only offering to find me somewhere 2 blocks away.
For context, I am a 62 year old British woman who speaks no Spanish. We were arriving after dark and the hotel is close to the Candelaria area that is warned against visiting at night.
Indeed, the hotel receptionist at the Regina told my friends it was too late to go out safely at 8.30pm. Yet they were happy to cancel my booking at short notice and force a 62 year old woman into a separate hotel alone in a pretty dangerous area. When my friends arrived, the staff had no knowledge of a "water" problem so I don't even know the reason I had to spend a scary night alone on Bogota.
The reviews also conveniently don't mention how dangerous the area is at night.
Avoid.

The Hotel Regina was part of the start of my tour through Colombia. I had a room on the 4th floor, which was quite surprised was kinda large. The bed was a bit hard but otherwise comfortable. It was quiet for sleeping considering where we were in the city. The location is good for being close to Museo d'Oro and convenient for seeing the downtown area. Breakfast was tasty, and the staff were great.

First I want to highlight the excellent service we received at the hotel, especially from Adriana.
The hotel is very nice, clean, tasteful and comfortable.
The location is very convenient to visit La Plaza Bolívar and there are many stores nearby to buy food.
In the photos published on Trip Advisor you can see a very nice space for breakfast, that place is no longer used for that purpose, you can go up and use it, but breakfast is served in the cafe next to the hotel. From what I see in the photos, the breakfast before was better. The current one is in a very beautiful and abundant place.
The only thing we didn't like about the hotel was that they were just doing repairs in the next room during nap time (we traveled with a baby), we had to call to ask them to stop hammering, the noise was very loud.

This hotel is very old and could be charming if thing were working. The elevator didn’t work, so you have to walk 8 floors for breakfast. The Internet is terrible. The laundry service ended up being 3 times as expensive as I was told. Staff trying their best but the hotel needs major face lift.

Stayed here as my first stop in Colombia for 2 nights. I arrived at around 5am and a very tired and sick reception girl was waiting for me with a fast and efficient check in.
Breakfast was simple but also, really delicious. I'm not a big foodie but I remember the flavours which can only be a good thing! The cafe staff were all really friendly and smiling. As was the male on day reception duty who very helpfully helped me find a money exchange.
No complaints on the room, comfortable with strong WiFi. The rooftop looks lovely in better weather.
It's location is really good and it was easy to find restaurants and bars a stones throw away as well as the Plaza and museums.
My only suggestion/disappointment was the hotel served only pizza and pasta but I was hoping to find Colombian food - easy to find outside.
Lovely hotel though and I thoroughly recommend it. Such friendly staff, they even arranged a taxi for me after I was massively overcharged by an airport taxi on the way in.

The area is probably one of the safest in the city, you should be fine. If you want added security, have the hotel pick you up at the airport, well worth the extra couple bucks.
While I didn't notice any openly gay couples in Bogota, we did in Medellin, without incident. We were under the impression that Colombia is tolerant and non judgement of all minorities.
