A great location close to the main avenue of La Paz and close to the Universidad Mayor de San Andreas, the room is very spacious and clean. The bathroom is also very clean. However, the towels are worn out, the breakfast is very basic (the coffee itself didn't seem good to me). The hotel was partially under paint and smelled fine. strong.

Don't let the old fashion appearance of this hotel fool you. The rooms are very spacious with some having fantastic views. The staff are very couteous and try to anticipate your needs. Service was very good and the soup in the restaurant comes highly recommended. Would certainly recommend this hotel to any traveller to La Paz. Don't forget your coco tea for the altitude!

In a city where riots and demonstrations are commonplace it was nice to find a peaceful haven. On our trip through Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru this was probably the best hotel we stayed in. The room was huge, everything worked, staff were helpful and gave good recommendations regarding sights and restaurants.

Charged 1/2 room price for checking in a few hours early, overcharged at the end without any itemization. Refused
To provide two plastic room keys for the two of us. Construction on the hallways while there so couldn’t nap even with the early check in. Worst place we stayed in the country.

Located just a block behind downtown La Paz's main avenue, the placement is quite strategic. In the immediate vicinity there are several good/cheap restaurants and vendors of snacks on every corner. It is just several blocks to most of the downtown attractions... main park, artisan markets, witchcraft market, San Francisco... and only a few more blocks to the Plaza de Armas, cathedral, government buildings, C/Jaen and plenty of museums. The hotel itself is based around the theme of English kings (thus its name) and the hotel room certainly stood up to its name. I had a spacious, suite-like room with a giant king-sized bed and two walls full of windows, through which I could gaze into the faraway homes that lit the La Paz valley walls, climbing precariously closer and closer to the rim of the valley! Complimentary mate de coca was served upon arrival. The only complaint was that the included breakfast was rather skimpy in my opinion. However, the hotel redeemed itself in this respect on my last day - I had to catch a plane early in the AM, making for a 4 AM departure for the airport. Upon checkout, they had breakfast set up for me (and me alone!) in a conference room right next to the reception-- very kind!! Also, there is a free business center, equipped with several computer terminals with internet access -- very handy!

The rooms look nice and luxurious when you walk in but if you face the street they are noisy. My room also had no heating and was cold at night. The staff where great though and reception got me oil heater.
Rooms look great and big size just found the whole city of La Paz so noisy and conjested.
My biggest thing was our group had early start last morning and even though all the breakfast was out and ready all they would give us was 2 tiny bread rolls each and an orange juice which was really piss poor since Al the fruit and everything was out but we where not aloud to have.
So hotel let down by arogent food and beverage staff really.

After 4 weeks in South America this was our first disappointing experience. We arrived late and staff were anything but welcoming. In the middle of checking us in the staff member started helping another customer and left us high and dry. When we finally reached our room it was musty and dirty. The floor hadn't been vacuumed properly and the bathroom was not only dated but also poorly cleaned. We asked if we could change to a different room and while this was begrudgingly agreed to, I think all it achieved was that we got a bigger, dirty room. Despite an extensive mini bar menu, the fridge was empty and no food was provided in the room. The restaurant was hard work as well. The staff had no English and even sign language didn't reap any rewards. If it wasn't for the perserverence our the tour operator who gave us an excellent city tour, it would have seriously clouded our impression of La Paz. The description of this hotel is a total fabrication of the truth. Management need to get a much better understanding of the hospitality business before they will live up to their own vision of themselves.

I won't comment on the hotel directly because we never had the chance to get there.
The day before our arrival, we asked the hotel if we could arrive the same day (so a day before what was planned). They told us we could and that they were waiting for us.
One hour after (!!!) I am asked by WhatsApp the day of my departure. I've already tell it but repeat it without worrying.
I then received a message saying that they did not have any availaibility not only for the extra night (we were already on the road so It was already disappointing) but also for the FIVE OTHER NIGHTS we booked MONTHS ago because a lot of rooms were in maintenance (what were you waiting for before telling us ?!!!).

They told me we could go to another hotel for the same type of room and same price. Talking with that hotel, they were not aware of that deal and said they could not lower their price.
I had to contact El Rey Palace again in order to ask them to find a solution because we were on our way to La Paz.

They left me on "read" for two hours before saying everything was okay and we could go to the New hotel. We had to change the place we had to give back the car we rented (because we told the agency we could meet at El Rey Palace to give back the car) and contact the agency with which we booked two tours in order to change the bus journey (it was supposed to pick us up in front of our hotel)

Very unprofesional. Do not trust them.

My family went for a 8-day trip to Bolivia and stayed in this hotel in between trips to Copacobana, Uyuni, Potosi, Sucre. On three stays we encountered these problems: cold room & no heating available, no hot water, bathroom toilet was dirty of previous use, concierge service was so inadequate

I left for the rural areas for the day, so left my computer in my hotel room, thinking this was safer than taking it with me. In the evening it was gone. When I informed the reception, the girl seemed disinterested and suggested I had taken it somewhere else. It was not possible to talk to the manager or get any kind of support, sympathy whatsoever. The next morning same was repeated with the reception quickly moving to accusing me that I had taken the computer out of hotel.
The manager could finally be seen late that day and she threatened me to send her lawyer if I would report what happened on TripAdvisor!!
I then went to the Camino Real, a hotel that deserves its stars and it was only marginally more expensive for a completely different experience.
El Rey Palace has several other drawbacks apart from disappearing computers, such as: 2 mornings out of 4 there were no towels in the room. Water for brushing teeth is part of the minibar.
