We had a lovely time. The staff are very nice. We upgraded the room and had access to the Exécutive Lounge for sundowners and dinner every day. The rooms look directly over the water to the grand mosque.
We returned to the Shangri La after a 2 year gap when Covid stopped us visiting and wondered what we would find. We arrived at 2am after a very long journey, and immediately it was if we had come home. For us this is a very special hotel, and out of the many 5* hotels we have stayed at around the world is very much our favourite. The whole hotel is immaculately kept, the staff are superb providing a friendly, professional service, and it is just so comfortable staying there. What touched us was that several of the staff remembered us from our 2 previous visits. You cannot imagine my joy going to breakfast our first morning to be greeted by Kenza , who cooks the most perfect eggs, like a long lost friend. All the staff seem to want to go the extra mile to make sure that everything is perfect for you whether it is the waiting staff, the reception staff, and guys who look after the beach and pool - and all done with a friendly smile. Inevitably there have been some changes. It is sad that currently it is not possible to have breakfast in the Horizon Club which we always enjoyed in the past. Also in the Horizon Club what were probably over generous canapes during the social hour have become rather limited and lacklustre. Whether this is a a result of economies or and after effect of covid restrictions I am not sure. Also on the slightly negative side, we did feel there was a lack of attention to detail during the evening buffets in Sofra where often dishes were not labeled, and nobody seemed to be checking that the buffet was restocked with food. However, these were minor details that did not stop us thoroughly enjoying our stay and all being well we will be back for another stay over Christmas and the New Year.…
Visited Abu Dhabi as part of conference which was held at Fairmount Abu Dhabi starting on the 15th March two 18th March 2023. I checked in at Shangri la on the afternoon of 15th March I was so happy to see the warm hospitality greeting with a Kava and traditionally dates. The front office was very cordial to check me in as early as possible for a long flight of more than 14 hours, amazed impressed with the room it is big also the washroom is quite big and comfortable I always feel that we should ask for for a room with garden and immediate access to the private beach the white sands. Get up in the morning have the first View of the see and the beautiful Abu Dhabi. My concerns were the air condition for heat around, they were nice to come and rectify. Breakfast cuisine is liked by all multi national Recommend Do visit and our friends from Germany was awestruck in the simplicity and beauty Tips 1. Close to Airport 2. Proximity to Convention centre 3. Try the local cuisine …
Beautiful hotel to relax .excellent hospitality right from your entry to the lobby. Nice helpful staff with prompt services to each customer. Each room was given a royal look .evening you can get nice visual of sheikh Zayed mosques 🕌. A must stay who visiting abu Dhabi.
We stayed at the Shangri-La for the second part of our honeymoon and it was amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us so well. They decorated our room with balloons, rose petals and cake. We loved every moment of our stay. We stayed in an deluxe horizon room and would 100% recommend booking a horizon room. The view of the mosque on the 6th floor was beautiful and the Horizon Lounge access was an added bonus - stunning sunsets with cocktails and canapes. The location is out of the city centre but easy to get anywhere and there's always taxis waiting. The highlight was the level of service from every member of staff. We are already planning our next stay! Thank you so much
Another wonderful stay here Lovely room with a sunny balcony Plenty of wardrobe space Staff so helpful & friendly Good selection of restaurants & different choices of food Swimming pools the right temperature
For once a hotel that truly lives up to its 5* rating… Shangri-La offers the intrepid traveller everything they want on a luxury holiday… Rooms The rooms are spacious, and our balcony had an amazing view of the Grand Mosque and the waterfront. The bed was very comfortable, and we had a sizeable bath and shower. For those who like to squeeze in some work a office desk sits nicely next to the balcony. There was ample storage and conveniently, an iron / ironing board. The cleaning staff are incredible – the rooms look brand new everyday! Facilities For relaxation, you have an infinity pool with bar – with two beaches either side of it. Staff are very attentive and are on hand to provide beverages, food or umbrellas. In regards to dining, there is large buffet hall supported by a Chinese, Vietnamese and French [menu-based] restaurants. The lobby also boasts a cocktail bar with a view of the bay. The hotel has a canal running through it – with a ferry service taking you to the local market (the Souk) or the sister hotel – Traders. Location Shang is roughly 20 – 25 minutes from the airport. There are ample taxis or ubers to get you there / back. There is a market (Souk) next to the hotel however its become a tad empty since our visit to Traders 4years ago. This is no doubt thanks to the new mega complex 10minute walk from the hotel – Al Qana. Possibly one of the most visually impressive arcades you will come across – it boasts numerous restaurants, coffee shops and cinemas. The food is phenomenal – but can be expensive. Its mostly locals here – which creates a nice vibe. If you want something more western – head over to another new complex – Soul Beach… c. 25min by car. In the new cultural quarter by the Louvre and the future Guggenheim – it offers alcoholic bars, clubs and restaurants across an expansive beach. +++ All in all – a 5* experience. Its not cheap but you leave with great memories and wondering what other Shangri-La's in the world can offer you…
I just had a wonderfully relaxing Asian Signature Massage at Chi, the Spa. Rose is a wonderful therapist who makes the tension in your body disappear. The facilities are very nice and you can enjoy the Jacuzzi, Hammam and sauna before your massage.
Beautiful hotel, Lovely views, Very clean and comfortable rooms. From arrival to departure we were made very welcome by all the staff at the hotel. We opted for an Horizon Club room due to the fact that it included breakfast and also access to the Horizon club lounge. You get free soft drinks from 12 - 9pm and free alcoholic drinks from 5.30 - 7.30pm with nibbles. The views from the lounge are great. You can see the Sheikh Zayed Mosque, and its nicely lit up at night time. Greta sunsets from the balcony as well. Good selection of food for breakfast, all buffet and some live cooking station as well. You can even get ice cream which will please a lot of children and some adults too :-) . Lovely pool area with an infinity pool and plenty of seating. The only negative that we found (and thus the 4 star rating) was that the dinner in Sofra Bid (which is where breakfast is served as well) was that some of the dishes were a bit dry / over cooked. But having said that the selection was very good and you can go back as often as you like. We also ate in the Shang Palace restaurant and had one of the best Chinese meals we have had in a very long time. Well worth it and would highly recommend. They also have a little boat trip down a man made canal which is free to do. You can just go on a round trip or get off at the Souk Qaryat Al Beri, where there are a few shops and restaurants. You can then get the boat back if you like when it appears or it is a very very short walk back to the hotel. Overall a very enjoyable stay. I would recommend singing up to the Shangri-La loyalty points as it gave us discount on the restaurant prices. …
From when you arrived until you depart, we were made very welcome by every member of the hotel. We opted for the Horizon Club room and we are glad we did. Very spacious, nice view from the balcony and well equipped bathroom. You also get access to the club lounge. Where you get free soft drinks from lunch time till 9pm and free selection of alcoholic drinks from 5.30 till 7.30pm. Also breakfast is included. Very good selection at breakfast time to cater for all tastes even ice cream!!!! We only had one negative during our stay and that was dinner in Sofra Bid, some of the dishes were a bit dry / over cooked (thus the four stars). But most were ok. We also ate in the Shang Palace and had one of the best Chinese meals we have had in a very very long time, well worth it. Lovely views from the room and from the lounge area. Nice pool area with an infinity pool. I would highly recommend staying here. Its a short taxi ride to downtown from 40 - 60 AED depending where you are going to. Also join the loyalty program as you get discounts on your meals as well :-) …
