While some guests feel that parts of InterContinental Abu Dhabi, an IHG hotel, are in need of a modern touch, others enjoy the relaxing atmosphere it offers. The rooms may show signs of wear and face noise issues, yet many find them to be clean and comfortable.
The hotel's amenities, including the Bayshore beach club and dining options, generally receive high marks, as does the prime location with its stunning views. Opinions on value vary, but the service is consistently lauded for its professionalism and the overall cleanliness is well-regarded.

Hotel's Favorite
We have just returned home after a really lovely 8 nights at this hotel. We didnt want to leave.
We arrived around 10am and our room wasnt ready, which was ok as we were able to leave our bags with the hotel staff and relax around the pool on the 3rd floor until our room was ready. The pool area was ok, nothing special, could do with a spruce up. Plenty of beds and umbrellas. The pool bar was nice.. but £8-10 for a mocktail was expensive. Complimentary water in ice buckets were given to us.
Across from the pool is the health club. It was nice to cool down inside and take a dip in the cold plunge pool. You will also find a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and some relaxation beds.
Our room was on the 9th floor with a view of the marina. The room was a good size, double bed and a single fold up bed that we requested. Their was plenty of space for our clothes, wardrobe and drawers.
The bathroom was clean and had everything we needed.
Maid service was great, we always came back to a clean room, beds made/changes and fresh towels.
The air con was great, worked perfectly and wasnt noisy at all.
The room had a fridge and a kettle with tea and coffee which was replenished daily too. Bottled water is left in the room daily and we put this in the fridge.
We only had breakfast with our stay and it was just what we needed.. hot food selection, continental options, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, honey, bread, made to order eggs brought over to our table. Hot drinks were great and the staff were attentive.
We absolutely loved the Bayshore Beach club, it was great. Just a couple of minutes walk around the marina and you are in a beautiful part of the resort.
The infinity pool was really relaxing with the waterfall and the view over the beach and the hammocks near by. Their are private cabanas but these are at an extra cost.
I loved that this hotel had a beach.. well kind off, there arent any waves etc, but it was lovely still with a great view of the skyscrapers behind. Plenty of sunloungers and bar to order food and drinks.
The only negative i have about the beach club is when we asked for bottled water (which is complimentary ok the 3rd floor pool) we were told we would have to pay for it. I asked if we could just have cold water in a cup and they said the beach bar could assist with that. The beach bar only had warm filtered water from a machine but he gave me some ice and small cup.. in 107° heat, a small cup is silly. I was directed to a cold water machine near the childrens pool which was better, but still annoying as the cups were so small and meant going backwards and forwards. It made no sense that resort guests had to pay for water at the beach club but it was complimentary in the room and at the 3rd floor pool.
The location of this hotel is great, we travelled to yas island a couple of times and it was a 25 min drive. Saadiyat island is about 25 mins away too.
We drove to Dubai a few times too and it was 1hr 20 mins. Easy drive.
I will not hesitate to stay at this hotel again, apart from it needing a little spruce up, (as other 5 star hotels are alot more plush that we have stayed in) i have no complaints. It had everything we needed, it was clean, staff were friendly, food was nice, parking was plentiful. We loved our stay. I just wish we had longer! Thank you!

A bit late doing this review, we stayed second week in December. It was our third visit and was just as good as previous visits. We stayed in a club room again but this time did not do the premium all inclusive as well as we had done on our previous visits. We made best use of the offerings in the club lounge and the offers in the restaurants, especially the mussels and beer in the Belgian Cafe as mussels are not included on the AI menu.
Club room was spacious with fresh fruit, tea and coffee (a Nespresso machine and a kettle) and lots of bottled water. Bathroom had a bath and shower, although the shower is a bit small, with lots of toiletries. Cleaner did a great job.
We spent most days at the Bayshore beach club on the beach, we found there was more space round the chairs, and ate lunch there.
We ate in the Fishmarket, Belgian Cafe, Cho Gao and Byblos (our favourite). Great food and service in all.
The whole hotel was kept spotless and, during our stay, they decorated for Christmas with lots of trees and a large gingerbread house which really smelt of gingerbread, a nice touch.
What made our stay was the Club lounge where we ate breakfast every morning and also took advantage of the evening drinks and food on offer. Again the food and service was excellent and the staff remembered us from our previous visits.
We will be back

the hotel takes good care of covid-19 precautions & all the social distancing measures are being followed. All the staff are very cautious to follow the covid precautions & very good sanitation practices were being followed during my stay. hotel surrounding are lush green & are peaceful in nature. The hotel building has been constructed at elevated level which gives best view of the rich surroundings nature, Cornish & tall skyscrapers.
The ambience at the hotel is top class with mind soothing music & temperature control in the lobby.
The lifts in the hotel make sure you reach to your room without waiting much. The rooms are very rich & well maintained with views of the rich surrounding area. At night the views are amazing specially the sea view. The room & other support staff are so friendly & helping in nature which makes you comfortable everywhere in the hotel. The private beach is very cozy in nature to relax on beach beds after some swimming in the sea water. The beach restaurant & swimming pool adds richness to the beach. If you have kids & even adults who are beginners in swimming you are contentiously being monitored for your safety by life guards. The fish market restaurant serves a fresh & tasty fish dishes that the fish lovers will surely enjoy. The restaurant has lot of vegetarian & non vegetarian option which I enjoyed. The hotel has everything for the guests of different ages & ethnicity. Overall my stay was amazing & I enjoyed my 100 days of stay will surely looking forward to enjoy the vacation with my family in the near future. I left the hotel with good memories as hotel staff helped me & made me comfortable during my checkout too. Will miss intercontinental till my next vacation.

We did a 1 night half board staycation here.
The hotel staff are lovely, well mannered and polite.
The Bayshore beach area was lovely, very quiet and waiters were attentive and helpful.
We were actually upgraded on arrival, which was kind, though we were told this was the only room available due to a huge party of 250 guests- we didn’t see any of this party during our stay. The room was lovely and big, great views.
The room has a seal to show it has been cleaned, however we found surfaces that hadn’t been dusted and a few other cleaning issues, it wasn’t a big deal for us, but I would question the thorough sterilisation that is advertised.
The half board dinner was nice. We chose to eat in the Belgian Cafe. The waiters tried to be super helpful, and were very polite, though there were a number of mistakes made with our order. The food is wonderful though once it arrives, really tasty and well made! Breakfast was ordered from a set menu with lots of choice. Unfortunately it took nearly an hour to arrive, and when it did arrive it was cold and incorrect, it was then another 40 minutes to correct the mistake, by which time we needed to check out. It would be better to be able to pre order breakfast the night before maybe.
No option for early check in or late check out. We were told this was because all rooms were occupied.
Overall, a nice enough night away, but for the prices charged other hotels in the same area are offering a much higher standard of service, so we won’t be returning.
We did mention some issues as we departed and the duty manager apologised, explained how full the hotel was and offered us an upgrade next time we stayed- we can’t fault this at all. I think we just chose an unfortunate night to stay when the hotel was busy!

Arrived at hotel just before 9 a.m. we had booked a club room on an all inclusive plus basis (a very good deal) and checked in on the 18th floor appreciated we were early and check in time approx 2 p.m we had some breakfast and within half an hour of arrival we were told the room was ready a very good start. The room we had was on the 17th floor and room facilities were excellent with Bohpal our room attendant very helpful and of course we we could use club lounge facilities which are excellent including young Vince who looked after us very well. The overall facilities are great and we spent many hours on the beach at the Bayshore Beach Club where again everything is of a very high standard. The restaurants provide a very wide choice of food types and suit all tastes We ate several times at the Byblos Sur Mer which was completely different to what we would normally eat we were helped by a young man Jalal who gave us all the information on Lebanese food and spoiled us with his service. All the restaurants suited us and we enjoyed all the various types of food offered and young Rita in the Asian restaurant was a breath of fresh air.
This is a very good hotel which has a Marina a lovely beach club and a wide range of quality restaurants .We had no complaints regarding the staff all were excellent. Will definitely return and wish them all well in these troubled times

The Intercontinental was the first 5 star hotel in Abu Dhabi and it’s fair to say that it’s showing its age.
But that’s part of its charm.
As you walk through the lobby, you get a taste of what it would have been like when it opened, full of opulence and glamour.
When we got to our room, we found some issues which spoilt the whole luxury experience for us.
We could have paid the same room charge with a competitor nearby delivering flawless luxury so we did feel let down.
The shower hold-all came off the wall. The hook behind the door was coming off. Housekeeping forget to replenish coffee/tea tray with products and they forgot to change a quilt cover which had a hole the size of a ten pence coin.
At a breakfast, we were ushered to an overflow restaurant which contained less food items then the main breakfast restaurant. We were met with lovely staff but they were less attentive - on two occasions, we had to deliver our dirty plates to them.
Having said that, the staff did try hard to fix the problems.
The location of the hotel has a lot going for it, what with the Bayshore Club a stone throw away which made the stay extra special.
The pools are great especially for kids surrounded by well groomed gardens; and the beach is faultless - almost lagoon like perfect for swimming.
We were pleased to see that a new hotel was being built next door which opens at the end of 2022, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the brand’s promise improves.
It’s the small things that matter which people remembers the most, and if the Intercontinental can get them right with the new hotel then it will definitely be worth a visit; but in the meantime you’ll need to put up with some cracks in luxury promise though they do try hard to fill them.

AUH Intercont is a perfect blend of location, view, staff courtesy, hospitality , relaxing vibes, cleanliness and delicious food. Over and above and most important is the sense of responsibility to the importance of your needs. I was delivering one of my training courses there and requested at the last minutes to change the set up of my training room from U shaped to round tables for 30 participants. A 60 minutes job done in just 20. The lady managing the banquet (A banquet manager) took her jacket to work with the staff. You don't see that frequently. My sincere appreciation.

My friends and I availed of the dine around offer for the second time this month and thoroughly enjoyed it again. The offer included a night stay with breakfast, lunch, dinner and all drinks included. We had the choice of 6 restaurants to chose from for both lunch and dinner which included 3 courses. We were permitted to drink and eat at the Bayshore restaurant beside the pool while sunbathing which was very convenient. The buffet breakfast was filled with all sorts of options for all. The rooms contained modern coffee machines, the bathrooms had separate doors for the toilet and shower etc, the beds and pillows are super comfortable and the views second to none. The friendly, accomodating staff, the modern rooms and brilliant value are few of the many reasons we can't wait to go back again. 10/10.

Glad to have had this as my first post-Covid stay. Despite the challenges, I was pleasantly surprised to experience a minimal impact on my stay. It is obvious that a lot of procedures were well placed to cater for impeccable cleanliness and attentiveness from main door, thru reception, lobby and elevators , and all the way to the 'sealed' guest room. Thank you all for graciously combating the tough conditions. Success ! Back soon..

+1
We really enjoyed staying/experiencing in this luxurious 5 star hotel with its fabulous amenities, warm welcome of all good-looking staffs & manager, the front desk/concierge staffs were all professionals and approachable to every guest.
Mr. Darius, Ms. Mona & Ms. Mellissa were very accommodating and hospitable. Room attendants / Housekeeping were very quick in responding and providing our necessities.
Safety & health measures has been implemented and followed i.e. (social distancing, sanitization/sterilization, capacity of guest in (swimming pool, bayshore, restaurant, gym) has been appropriately supervised and provision of health kits).
Intercontinental Hotel Abu Dhabi is a great hotel with excellent location and stunning view of the seashore.
Dining room for breakfast were nice and pleasant and the food served to us was really good and delicious.
We shall surely return to this lovely place, a quiet and cozy room with convenient facilities, clean, comfortable and affordable.
We highly recommend this wonderful place to visit and stay to experience the same.
