The InterContinental Abu Dhabi, an IHG Hotel, is celebrated for its superb location, providing guests with easy access to beaches and local attractions. While some guests find the rooms spacious, others consider them in need of an update and note occasional noise and cleanliness issues. Despite mixed opinions on the hotel's value, many appreciate the competitive pricing. The hotel's atmosphere is described as a blend of vibrant and tranquil spaces, although some areas appear dated. The service is widely commended for its friendliness and efficiency, and the hotel's cleanliness generally receives high marks. Guests also enjoy the extensive amenities, including pools, a private beach, and varied dining experiences.

We stayed at the hotel for a week during low season.
Temperature 45, did not leave the hotel until 16-00, only on excursions.
Because it's not the season, there is literally no animation at all.
Neither day nor evening, no shows, singers, dances, and in the Piano bar, the piano itself is sealed with tape.
We would like to give a solid 5 for room cleaning and the rooms themselves.
By the way, if you smoke, ask for smoking rooms, they are allocated on floors.
We took all inclusive and were satisfied, because prices in the Emirates with today's exchange rate are absolutely hellish.
The buffet restaurant is mediocre.
Of course, you won’t go hungry, but it’s like an A...
Upon arrival, we were only given a restaurant schedule, and those arriving after us were given a map of the resort, but you can find out everything yourself.
But this is a five...
In the main bar, people with All Inclusive must go to the counter themselves and place an order.
But this is a five...
The bar itself is open until 01-00
At 23-20 they turn on the big lights and start washing the floors.
But this is a five...
By the way, there you can chat with visitors from all over the world, only this bar has a balcony for smoking - I like it!
Excellent service at the bar at the hotel pool, the employee, greeting us immediately (without ordering), poured us our favorite drinks, brought them and left the most positive impressions❤️.
Also, the girls at the reception at the restaurant are very friendly.
The hotel has a shop with perfumes from Bahrain.
Guys, this is the bomb 💣.
Most of the scents are unisex, ranging from sweet to spicy.
We recommend. The cost is about $100 per 100 ml, but if you are leaving and have $70 left, they will give it away. Perhaps they will sell it for $50 😂, haven’t checked. Bargaining is the East.
Overall, the hotel is good, close to all attractions. We went around everything in an Uber and were very pleased. We didn’t take excursions, the price was the same, but in due time, as much as we wanted and how we wanted.
Overall - ok
In Dubai there is only Rio.

We have just returned home after a really lovely 8 nights at this hotel. We didnt want to leave.
We arrived around 10am and our room wasnt ready, which was ok as we were able to leave our bags with the hotel staff and relax around the pool on the 3rd floor until our room was ready. The pool area was ok, nothing special, could do with a spruce up. Plenty of beds and umbrellas. The pool bar was nice.. but £8-10 for a mocktail was expensive. Complimentary water in ice buckets were given to us.
Across from the pool is the health club. It was nice to cool down inside and take a dip in the cold plunge pool. You will also find a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and some relaxation beds.

Our room was on the 9th floor with a view of the marina. The room was a good size, double bed and a single fold up bed that we requested. Their was plenty of space for our clothes, wardrobe and drawers.
The bathroom was clean and had everything we needed.
Maid service was great, we always came back to a clean room, beds made/changes and fresh towels.
The air con was great, worked perfectly and wasnt noisy at all.
The room had a fridge and a kettle with tea and coffee which was replenished daily too. Bottled water is left in the room daily and we put this in the fridge.

We only had breakfast with our stay and it was just what we needed.. hot food selection, continental options, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, honey, bread, made to order eggs brought over to our table. Hot drinks were great and the staff were attentive.

We absolutely loved the Bayshore Beach club, it was great. Just a couple of minutes walk around the marina and you are in a beautiful part of the resort.
The infinity pool was really relaxing with the waterfall and the view over the beach and the hammocks near by. Their are private cabanas but these are at an extra cost.
I loved that this hotel had a beach.. well kind off, there arent any waves etc, but it was lovely still with a great view of the skyscrapers behind. Plenty of sunloungers and bar to order food and drinks.
The only negative i have about the beach club is when we asked for bottled water (which is complimentary ok the 3rd floor pool) we were told we would have to pay for it. I asked if we could just have cold water in a cup and they said the beach bar could assist with that. The beach bar only had warm filtered water from a machine but he gave me some ice and small cup.. in 107° heat, a small cup is silly. I was directed to a cold water machine near the childrens pool which was better, but still annoying as the cups were so small and meant going backwards and forwards. It made no sense that resort guests had to pay for water at the beach club but it was complimentary in the room and at the 3rd floor pool.

The location of this hotel is great, we travelled to yas island a couple of times and it was a 25 min drive. Saadiyat island is about 25 mins away too.
We drove to Dubai a few times too and it was 1hr 20 mins. Easy drive.

I will not hesitate to stay at this hotel again, apart from it needing a little spruce up, (as other 5 star hotels are alot more plush that we have stayed in) i have no complaints. It had everything we needed, it was clean, staff were friendly, food was nice, parking was plentiful. We loved our stay. I just wish we had longer! Thank you!

We stayed for 5 nights from the 11 February on a half board basis. We arrived on the night flight, so got to the hotel around 9am. Our room was not ready yet, so we asked if we could get breakfast, they said we could, but we would forfeit breakfast on the last morning, which for us was fine as we were leaving before 6am for our next flight so would not require it on the morning anyway. There was a good selection at breakfast, all were labelled with food allergens which was great to see as I am both gluten and dairy free, there was a gluten free bread section also. Be prepared to queue for breakfast though, even at 10am when it closes at 1030 there is still a queue.
We were allocated 726 on the 7th floor, the room was a good size and the bed comfortable, there was also a mirror above the desk to get ready which was great as a lot of hotel rooms do not have this. The issue we found was with the bathroom, which is the reason for the 4/5 rating. It was dated and looked old and in need of refurbishment, the shower was also very small and did not drain very well. You were only given 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel, so each day we had to call for an extra towel which was annoying. We also found the street noise quite loud; you would get cars racing down the roads in the early hours which could wake you up.
The staff here are lovely, and you cannot fault them, Mansoor always seemed to serve us at breakfast or in the evenings when we had dinner and always had a smile on his face. We ate at the evening buffet 3 times, again all food was labelled, you can have water or soft drinks with dinner also. We found the location of the hotel good, we walked over to the Rixos area and used Uber to get around everywhere else (Ferrari world 100 AED, Grand Mosque 55 AED).
You can get a local sim card at the airport, we used Etisalat 4GB which was 79AED. Overall we would recommend this hotel to future travellers.

On the day of check-in it was a birthday, the hotel was warned in advance, and as a result they brought a cake. Late evening. There are no cotton pads, swabs, toothbrushes in the rooms, only one towel per person. We have an all premium package; according to this package, restaurants offer a special menu that does not correspond to the restaurant level, as in a canteen; the alcohol is local and of low quality. The buffet is poor, the daily dish is always dry. On yarn the staff is very slow. The prosecco bar is closed. There are some insects in the rooms that bite at night. Cups and glasses are taken away and new ones are not brought

For us it is a four star hotel, it doesn't deserve the fifth star. We booked half board and we thought the food was really great. Everything was there, everything was fresh, everything was delicious. The complex is also really spacious and beautiful, the rooms are big, the beach and pool area are well maintained, the fitness studios are well equipped.
The Belgian Café has a happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day with 50% off almost all drinks, which we enjoyed. The selection of drinks here is really large. A glass of wine normally costs from twelve euros, so 50% really makes a big difference.
What we also liked was that there was a water station on the beach where you could always refill your water bottle.
But there were a lot of little things that bothered us. We knew that the room didn't have a balcony, but we didn't like the fact that the windows couldn't be opened at all and there was only artificial ventilation. The toilet constantly smelled of cigarette smoke from the ventilation.
The hotel was very full and the poor staff were sometimes completely overworked, especially at breakfast. You could wait 20 minutes for your cappuccino. But the fault lies with the hotel and not the staff. The staff were always super friendly and helpful, but sometimes they were just poorly trained. Prosecco or white wine were often not really cold, we complained and of course got new ones straight away. But there is simply a lack of training here. How is an employee from India or Bangladesh supposed to know how to serve white wine or prosecco? A five-star hotel should train its employees better here.
We also didn't like the fact that the windows in the restaurant were completely reflective in the evening, so you couldn't see anything of the supposed sea view. There is also no terrace at the restaurant, so you can't eat outside. It's a shame. The sea view is a joke anyway, as so much has been built on it that you could actually say that the hotel is in the third row from the sea. We were really glad that we hadn't booked a room with a sea view, but with a city view. The view of the city was really beautiful and, in our opinion, more beautiful than the alleged sea view.
There is no German TV channel, which wouldn't be a problem if there weren't so many other foreign channels. There are Spanish, Russian, English and so on, so it would be nice if there was at least one German channel in a five-star hotel.
We also found the shower to be extremely narrow. The door opens inwards, so you have to suck in your stomach.
Another small thing is that the cups in the room are washed in the bathroom instead of being changed daily. I thought that was a bit of a shame for a five-star hotel. As I said, a nice hotel, but unfortunately not five stars.

A very good two-night stay at The Intercontinental in Abu Dhabi. I had visited the hotel 8 years ago for a dinner whilst on holiday with my family but we did not stay there. The hotel is nicely located in close proximity (or a short taxi ride) from many of the key attractions.

The hotel itself is large and well-appointed, especially in the public areas and lobby. It has a heated outdoor pool with a small swim-up bar, gym facilities and boasts 7 restaurants to choose from. A number of them open onto the rear terrace area overlooking the small marina which is fantastic, especially during early evening as the sun sets and the area becomes more lively. Before long, table lights are lit and the area begins to feel like one big outdoor restaurant, despite being made up of several different ones, each offering a different style and cuisine.

Breakfast was included and was buffet service. It was fine and a good enough selection albeit a little frantic feeling at times and very busy.

I had requested a non-smoking room and yet my room had a faint smell of stale smoke which indicated that previous guests had indeed smoked inside previously. This was off-putting but wasn't sufficiently bothersome to make me request a room change. The room was big and ideal for business travel with plenty of storage, UK power sockets, a comfy double bed and a work desk. The room was a bit dated but was fit for purpose.

Some parts of the hotel are showing their age. Photos hung in the lobby show the hotel's construction in the early 80's and it in places it definitely shows its age and would benefit from some refurbishment investment.

Overall, the hotel was absolutely fine for what I needed. The staff, I have to say, were fantastic and nothing was ever too much trouble. As always, service in Abu Dhabi hotels is exemplary. The hotel has a 24 hour front desk with plenty of staff so always felt safe. I would definitely return and stay again but not before considering some other hotels as alternatives as well.

We have stayed at this hotel several times in the past. We had been very satisfied.
The hotel by its location has assets beautiful pool, beautiful beach. Its management today leaves much to be desired.
All the last time we had been at this hotel we had taken the All Inclusive Package. This allowed access to all the restaurants and the buffet. Today it doesn’t allow access anywhere, except to the buffet which is very often gross, always the same salads and overheated dishes.
We asked for an explanation at the reception, but the staff remained inflexible and wanted to know nothing. They asked us to pay more by taking the premium package to be able to access the restaurants. Which we declined. Because our agency only sold this package.
One wonders why this name: “all inclusive” because not much is included. Even the drinks offered in this package are mediocre: Syrups, sodas, and poor-quality alcohol.
Added to this pigeons create big noise nuisance in the rooms with cooing very early in the morning. We forget that we go to a hotel to rest ....
This set of changes and the lack of friendliness and understanding of the staff at the reception make this hotel bad despite its strengths in terms of setting, pool and beautiful beach. So in order not to experience the same mishap as we invite any future traveler to check the contents of his package and the nuisances of pigeons.

The staff at this hotel are all exceptional. It is impossible to pick out one or two as everyone went the extra mile for us.

The hotel is about 50 years old and this is a major problem for people of limited mobility. There are many stairs to all restaurants and facilities making them unavailable without assistance.

IF YOU ARE DISABLED, I suggest you choose the dine around all inclusive option, it is more expensive but you will be able to access the bars and some restaurants more easily. Unfortunately my friend and I only took the all inclusive option, the food was great but when going to the beach club we had to come back to the buffet lunch area in the main hotel which necessitated going to and fro, four journeys. Ok for the able bodied but not the disabled
To their credit, the hotel went above and beyond for us, arranging golf carts from a different location to help us as much as they could. Also, the only bar available for this level of guest has 7 steps down with no ramp so would not be suitable for wheelchair users.

This hotel gives 5 star service but the lack of its own golf cart and insufficient ramps lets it down.

The bedrooms are very big, have great tv channel options and the bathrooms are also large.

The towels are huge and very soft, changed daily. Everywhere was spotless.

This is a super hotel and well worth a visit

We rested in this hotel with our family, with a 2.5 year old child.
The hotel looks as if you were in a hotel from a 1990s movie, pompous and expensive, but pretentious and rather atmospheric. It was nice to sit in the hotel lobby, waiting for the sound of a camera, a motor, and the shooting to begin.
The room is a little outdated, but at the same time spacious, they also provided us with a bed for a child, without prior requests or payment. The ceilings in the hall are low, but in the rooms they are higher, so there is no discomfort. The safe is large, the bathroom is spacious, the bathroom has expensive byredo cosmetics, there is a bathtub and a shower. Full wardrobe, large safe. Blackout curtains. The room is cleaned well, and the hotel itself is clean.
The hotel is located quite conveniently, in a small lagoon. You can walk to the embankment in 15 minutes, and take a 15-minute taxi ride to the Sheikh Zeid Mosque. The hotel has its own marina and a large area where you can walk.
The beach area is located right where we pass through the marina and onto the lagoon beach. Upon entry, you must write down the room number and towels will be provided. The beach has pleasant sand, there are no waves because of the lagoon, great for swimming with a child. Plenty of sun loungers and a beach bar with free drinks if you have all inclusive. There is also a children's pool and a large pool for adults. There is also a children's area, a hall, and periodic outdoor classes. In addition, there is a small swimming pool next to the hotel itself.
We took all inclusive and the food unexpectedly disappointed us, basically it was just food that was not exciting, too bland. Although not long before this, at a hotel of the same chain of a smaller category, the food was simply amazing. The drinks are of good quality.
In general, given the atmosphere and good price-quality ratio, I recommend the hotel for a complete vacation, perhaps we were just temporarily unlucky with the food.

We wanted a nice relaxing break in the sun. This is our 4th stay here, the last being December 2019. I was pleased to find that everything was just as good. We had a Club room on the 17th floor near the lift as we requested. Room was spacious and well furnished and provisioned, with plenty of storage space. One change from previous visits was large bottles of body wash etc instead of small ones, more eco friendly. We used the Club lounge for breakfast and evening drinks and nibbles. We also had the afternoon tea once. Service and food was excellent as before, it is the main reason that we continue to visit the hotel. We spent most days on the beach at the Bayside Beach Club. Nice comfortable loungers, well spaced out. We had lunch either at the Bayside or the Begian Cafe where we got 25% discount. We also made use of the half price beer during happy hour (4-7pm) at the Belgian Cafe and their mussels Tuesday offer, delicious. Altogether another lovely relaxing stay which was made better when we got upgraded to 1st class for our flight home. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Hello, I stayed for 3 weeks over Ramadan in 2021. No restrictions on Alcohol. We visited many bars and restaurants during that time. Brunches are still very much active too. The hotel reception staff are very good at answering questions.
