Beware! I attempted to book the Al Jour hotel over the internet. Alarm bells should have rung when I discovered that their website: www.beit-al-joury.com is not longer working as they had not renewed their subscription. However, I found another site, and asked if they had any rooms free. They replied that evening in the positive and I replied to their... More

Loved this place. We arrived in the middle nof the night and were absolutely amazed by our room: beautifully decorated, with rich furniture... Beds were really comfortable, with amazingly good-smelling sheets... Very nice bathroom, with all you could think of , even a hair dryer (rare in Syria). Breakfast very good - although regret that we did not have a... More

We could not have been more delighted with our stay at Beit Al-Joury Hotel during our first visit to Syria. Not only were we staying right in the Old City, but also we were enjoying a unique Old City classical Syrian house. We stayed 6 nights in late July, when it was quite hot, but the air-conditioned room was very... More

If you are looking for somewhere special to stay in Damascus and you would like to get a taste of the living conditions of a wealthy Syrian family in an old Damascene house, then don't miss the opportunity to stay in the Beit al Joury in the Old City, close to the Umayyad Mosque. Over a period of several years,... More

A few of our preferred hotels in Damascus were booked so we ended up staying at Beit al Joury. This turned out to be a fortunate set of events, because it was a great hotel. Set in a lovingly restored Damascene house, staying at this hotel was a fabulous experience. It isn't cheap, but this atmospheric and beautiful hotel is... More

I'm not even going to tell you how great this place is. In fact, I'm really rather unkeen for everybody to rush in and make it that much harder for me to make my next booking.

We stayed at the Beit Al-Joury in January while in Syria. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is in the middle of the old city so most of the interesting sites are within an easy walking distance. I also thought the owner was incredibly charming and helpful. He arranged for us to travel to both Palmyra... More

A fabulous small new hotel, only 9 rooms, in a newly renovated courtyard house/palace. Ranks with the Mameluka, as one of top 3-4 places in Damascus. Assiduous service, with owner/manager Mamoun very keen to please, and all staff very pleasant. Ask for a room on the first floor. Extremely beautiful courtyard and rooms an oasis of calm and taste. Located... More
