When we arrived we found one person at the front desk who also helped us with the luggage. The rooms are dull and dark and the towels looked horrible. Originally white but turned into greyish. Though I would say that the hotel is generally clean, the beds are comfortable. I recommend this hotel for people who will only use it to sleep

I've stayed at this hotel before in the fall of 2011. When I visit Beirut again, I'll probably stay at the Plaza again. Just an overall good experience.

They were accommodating at the front desk. Mohamed and Abed (he remembered me from my previous visit there) were particularly helpful. There was a woman there too, but she seems to have limited English and as a result was not as helpful. Mohamed assisted us in booking a day trip to the Grotto and Byblos. They also booked our transportation to the airport ... in addition to recommending restaurants and shopping in the neighborhood.

The breakfast is just enough to get the day started. The beds were comfortable. The shower was relaxing.

The Internet is a problem in general in Beirut. So this is not a problem that the hotel can adress on a larger scale. The hotel does offer one complementary hour of Internet access per day. But the system is so cumbersome to both log in to and log out of.

I wish that they had a small workout room.

Excellent room and service! All was great and clean and the staff was very kind and available at all times. Could call organize trustworthy taxi drives through the hotel reception and also exchange money. The hotel has it's own restaurant that is really great.
Overall it is a very good value for money. I strongly recommend it!

I have recently stayed at the Plaza Hotel in Beirut during one of my frequent trips to the Middle East. It is a 4 star hotel located right in the middle of Beirut's most commercial street, Hamra Street. The hotel is very trendy with a beautiful brown marble lobby, a very fashionable bar and large rooms for its size (The hotel has maybe only 60-70 rooms I think).
Being in Hamra was very convenient since the street has dozens of restaurants of all sizes and cuisines. Also taxis are plentiful and very cheap to take you to the cafe-laden Solidere area(5 minute cab drive). I also liked the very elegant boutiques surrounding the hotel and Starbucks.
Staff was efficient and helpful and very well-dressed (Like all Lebanese I guess!)
Don't confuse this hotel with the Crowne Plaza hotel located on the same street or the Royal Plaza also in Beirut.
And to top it all the hotel cost only $60 a night including breakfast. Fantastic. I'll be back!

Stayed 4 nights - really good deal on hotels.com site. Very central location, Comfortable room, clean bathroom and good air conditioning. Room was on side street, so no loud noise.
Was wary after reading all the negative reports. However there was nothing to worry about -to my relief there were no cockroaches. Highly recommend this hotel.

Transport
Airport taxi- 20$ - this is the best rate, do not pay any more than 20 dollars, for a single journey anywhere within the city centre from/to Airport.

City centre taxi - we got taxis frequently around the city paying a standard 10 lebanese pounds for each journey. Taxi drivers would ask for 10 dollars but we would insist on paying 10 LP. Agree fee before commencing your journey.

Daytrips - Hotel staff will recommend a tour operator/or private transport citing security concerns/and lack of comfort on the buses. This is not the case and we did the local option for a fraction of the price and always felt safe. The buses ran on a very regular basis and were comfortable.

Byblos - Instead of paying for expensive tours - get a taxi to the Dawra /Dora transport junction. (Taxi 10,000 lebanese pounds).Take a local bus to Byblos (Bus Return 6,000 lebanese pounds ).

Baalbek - get a taxi to the Cola Station. (Taxi 10,000 lebanese pounds). Take a local bus to Baalbek . Buses will only depart when full. (Bus Return 12,000 lebanese pounds).

Giving my feedback on my hotel stay in plaza hotel in beriut Hamara.Starting with the positive feedback:The location is good in the center of Hamra near almost everything. Its's breakfast is fair enough.
my negative feedback:Starting with my worest internet connection experience in my life.If you are there for Studying purposes or bussiness work,You are totally F"" up.It can take you hours to log in and once you log in,it barely connects you. They charge you for any call you make up 1 dollar/minute even if' it's ringing and no one answered you.The staff, some of them are really good and welcoming except A person called Hamzeh on the front disk, really unwelcoming person with rude attutide. The manager(she is a female)cant call back her name, doesnt care for any comment you gave or things you have noticed in the hotel. For my it was a below average stay
