Internet not reaching all rooms, people (staff and guests) entering the room at inconvenient hours without knocking. The staff are friendly but visibly over worked (12-hour shifts?). Good location, though.

I had asked for a top room with a view, they confirmed that it was possible. I got a closet size room with a view on a construction site.. so i asked to get another room. The second room had mold on all the walls, the AC was broken and the safe was not working. So they gave me a third room. When you check in they make you sign a paper that you will not bring any food or drinks even coffee to your hotel room and will only get these items from the hotel. They don't even have a kettle in the room. I had read somewhere (either in the reviews or their site) that the kettle is available on demand. Well they said after a fire caused by a kettle they have reloved all of them.. which brings me to the next point: there are serious electrical problems in this hotel: lights twinkling, water leaking from the lights, etc. I was woken up twice despite the "do not disturb" sign by staff who wanted to check/recharge the fridge. They franatically kept banging on the door until i answered. The staff is nice and friendly most of the time. The rooftop pool would've been a nice place if they cared to clean it! It is nice to swim with dragonflies hovering around but the goo and slime on the walls makes it disgusting! Make sure you have lebanese pounds on you at all times as they do not hesitate to charge you 20 times more (yes 20, you read correctly) if you are paying in dollars, giving you lousy excuses why they are doing so. this is true in all restaurants and hotels at least in Beirut.

I have come to the Mayflower for over a decade and it is consistently warm and welcoming. It feels like home to be here and the food and service are very good. I have formed friendships with the people here over the years and always look forward to coming back and reconnecting. The prices are always good for the rooms and the food, and they do everything to make the stay comfortable. Basically, I love this place and highly recommend it.

It has been a love at first sight, although the hotel came second or third on my initial search list. Just looking at the property from the outside with mural work across its facade, I find it captivating... and very much "Lebanese style", since so many other graffiti are scattered all over town. Maybe a bit rusty inside, to me the hotel is reasonably priced. The staff has been quite accommodating with breakfasts always fresh and served to my room. Hot water, power, WiFi were always there, and cleaning done on daily basis. I very much enjoyed the views from my balcony overlooking the busy street and buildings opposite me. Despite the cu`rrent turmoil times the country is going through, I cannot think of anything bad happening to me, and would definitely recommend this hotel particularly to those who stay in Beirut overnight to explore the capital and beyond by the daytime.

Hotel reception was not organized, the staff were not friendly, and the breakfast was not amazing. The room was good which is the only positive experience in the hotel, but they don't offer complimentary water. You can find better options in Beirut with less amount of money. Not recommended.

Dont expect much. The hotel offers a place to sleep in a very good location. It can be the cheapest in the town in this quality. I only would expect more hospitality from the hotel management in a Middle Eastern country, free water can be supplied at least on arrival.

the hotel is at the Harma. Near Pigeon Rock, around 20 mins by walk. American University also 5 mins by walk. There are many restaurants near the hotel. The room is clean and the breakfast is delicious.

I arrived late, after being exposed to heavy rain and haze, and from the first moment the young lady at the reception took care of me, helping me to dry and preparing my room in minutes. My room was spotless and big, internet was reliable, room service was fast, everything provided by the hotel was in honest prices. An historic, charming place, in the heart of Hamra, that respects you as much as it respects its own history. I'll certainly be back.

The Mayflower offers good value. Perhaps this is why Kim Philby, the British double agent for the Russians apparently used to stay here The bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. Security seemed to be good. My room had a safe in it. Breakfast was included and consisted of three choices: a cooked breakfast English style, a continental breakfast Lebanese style and a fish dish. The hotel is located a couple of blocks north of Hamra street and about a 15 minute walk from the promenade along the shoreline. Without question the best feature of this hotel is the Duke of Wellington bar where local and imported draft beer can be purchased at half price between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Furthermore, as long as you place your order before 7:00 pm, you get the 50% discount even though it may be an hour or so later in the evening when you ask for your beer. To top it off, you don't have to pay for these beers in advance; so little downside and plenty of upside for making this your regular watering hole after a busy day.
