Detailed Reviews
Sincere Congratulations to the Management and Staff of Black Iris Hotel !
You all have done your best from the first welcome until the final goodbye. The hospitality definitely comes first and makes you feel at home away from home. The hotel in general is very well kept and clean. Breakfast is basic but more than sufficient. Free teas and coffees of your choice at any time is a wonder, especially in the cold Winter days as we have experienced. Rooms are comfortable and quiet, and the hotel is situated within walking distance from the historic centre of lovely Madaba.
We have been all over Jordan in a span of 18 days and experienced lots of Jordanian culture and hospitality, however, still, Black Iris Hotel comes first for us, despite being a budget accommodation without being rated by any stars. We have also given our suggestions to the hotel Management for certain minimalities, not to criticise but for improvement, whereby they took it well and with seriousness, and therefore, they still deserve 5 stars from us. We are the type of people to face the Management of any business that is rendering us a service and explain rather than giving a negative review.
Keep it up and Good Luck for your new venture next door.

The Twal family have come up with a great formula for their hotel: if it’s essential, do it well; if it’s not essential, don’t bother to provide it. Thus, this is not a hotel which offers ten different cereals for breakfast - they’re not essential: a reasonable guest can make do with two or three. This is not a hotel that puts a tube of body lotion or a sponge impregnated with shoe polish in your room – they’re not essential. On the other hand, the hotel has just moved into a new building and the public areas and the rooms are new, modern and attractive. The hotel’s formula of concentrating on the essentials is reflected in the accommodation price. The owner, Yanal, his wife, Diana, and the staff were helpful and charming. Yanal went to an English-speaking school in Jordan and we sat down for an interesting half-hour chat with him. The hotel is in the centre but not on a busy street and is about a kilometre from the St George’s church with its famous mosaic map and from the archaeological parks.

The boy and the girl at the reception were amazingly friendly and helpful! They gave us very good recommendations and advised us well on the weather at the Dead Sea and which road is scenic and worth it.
The hotel can give you a very good discount on the day pass at the Crowne Plaza Resort at the Dead Sea - 25JD per person including a great lunch (without the discount it's 40JD).
The breakfast is delicious and plenty. You can help yourself with coffee, tea, and water all day. This is a small gesture from the hotel but it really makes a difference.
We were in room 202 and it was very clean, warm and comfortable. Actually this was the best place we've been for a week in Jordan (with the exception of the Beduin Camp in Wadi Rum but it is in the desert so it's totally different).
I can't recommend this place and those people enough!

I stated at the Black Iris hotel with my family group of 10. The rooms were comfortable, the hotel is very close to the centre of town, but in a quiet street, the staff were always friendly and very helpful. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner on the night of our arrival in the hotel. Tea and coffee is available for guests to help themselves throughout the day. I would whole-heartedly recommend Black Iris Hotel to everyone.

+1
Black Iris Hotel was absolutely my favourite hotel I stayed in whilst touring Jordan - my only grumble is that I was only there for one night!
I arrived a little early and was warmly welcomed by Safia. Her English is superb, and she was incredibly kind and helpful.
Location is excellent; although you are just a street away from all the shops, cafes and restaurants, the hotel is very peaceful.
Rooms are spacious, modern, clean, and very well appointed. My favourite part of the room though was the shower - which was powerful and I was able to adjust the temperature to suit me. It was an absolute joy not to have a shower that either boiled me alive or was freezing cold!
I also loved that you can help yourself to free tea and coffee throughout the day, which is downstairs in the dining room. You can also refill your water bottles too.
As it was my last night in Madaba I opted to have dinner at the hotel, which cost JOD 10 and caters for vegetarians. The meal was excellent, and far too big for me to finish, but it was absolutely delicious.
The hotel also has a bar where you can purchase alcohol.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to try the breakfast, as I had to leave the hotel in the early hours.
The reception desk is manned 24hrs and someone was there to check me out when I left at 4.30am
I adore this hotel, its facilities, food, but most especially the staff - who were all fantastic. I wish I could have stayed for longer.
I highly recommend staying at Black Iris Hotel.

Helpful staff and a friendly welcome. An excellent choice for a late arrival with easy access from and to the airport. Showers were hot, the best we had in Jordan. This is not a fancy 5 stat establishment but if you are looking for a comfortable stay, in a local family run place look no further. Breakfast served buffet style was limited in choice but entirely suitable for our needs. Overall excellent value for money in what is not a cheap destination. Madaba itself is a pleasant enough town for a brief stop.
The hotel put us in touch with Amar who organised our transport around Jordan. Arrangements with Amar were easy and our driver Ghassan was reliable and provided good company for our long days on the road. He found us the best coffee we had on our trip from a road side café.

stayed here for a day and had a great time. The hotel is located in a quiet area, even though its a nice 5-8 minute's relaxed walk from the St George's church. The rooms are simple, but big, clean and tidy. Bathroom was clean and spotless. The check in was simple and quick. The two ladies in the reception were really helpful and smiling all the time. Breakfast was included in the rate but the choice was simple and limited. But for the price you pay, its a very very good option in Madaba.

Everything a hotel should be. Friendly helpful staff, clean comfortable and home cooked freshly prepared food.
Our host gave us some milk so we could make our English early morning tea. Evening meal was freshly cooked for the number of guests ordering dinner so no waste. Dining area and kitchen very clean. One of the best hotels we staying in in Jordan and excellent value for money . Dianna is a wonderful host. Thank you for such a pleasant experience.

We spent 2 nights in Madaba at the Black Iris Hotel from 31st December to 2nd January.
The hotel is small but very well managed, clean and equipped with all comforts: air conditioning, restaurant (where we had dinner one evening at very affordable prices with excellent food), very courteous and helpful staff and, above all, they offer alcohol at the bar (which is rare in other hotels in Jordan).
The location is very convenient for visiting the center of Madaba on foot and there is also convenient parking in front.
To conclude, the hotel is worth at least three stars and not the two with which it is classified.
The situation in Jordan is absolutely calm and there are no dangers of any kind.
I highly recommend traveling to the country during this period given the few tourists and the very low prices!

A hotel in an excellent location, clean and well managed. From Madaba you can reach many places to visit and returning to this hotel in the evening is a relief. Free fresh water and an outdoor area where you can relax and... drink a cold beer!

Bonjour
Bon voyage
