We booked into the Dan very last minute and were quite concerned after reading the multitude of negative reviews on this site. However, we were pleased to find that we did not experience the issues that other seemed to. Yes, the hotel is dated and the bedrooms quite dark. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast every morning and loved the indoor pool. Unfortunately the outdoor pool was too cold for us to swim in but the fact it was adjacent to the inside pool was a bonus. There is a great view of the beach when sitting by the pool which was great. I think it could do with a pool bar that serves food at lunchtime every day - when we stayed, food was only served on the weekend. There is no restaurant to eat in at night which would have been useful. So yes the hotel isn't as plush as some of the other more modern hotels but it is perfectly fine to stay at for a few days and is minutes from the beach.

Hotel's Favorite
Was worried about staying here after reading bad reviews on trip advisor The hotel is a classic hotel and decor a bit tired hence all the negative reviews below Look beyond that and you have a hotel in a great position , staff are extremely friendly , service is good. Pool area has sauna and jacuzzi and also indoor pool as well as outdoor area Breakfast was amazing but I thing this is standard in Israel Failed my bed test as empty bottle of water found under there but housekeeping quickly rectified once I mentioned

We stayed at the Dan Tel Aviv for 4nights and enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel is well cared for very clean. The staff charming and very helpful. The breakfast is very satisfying but more attention needs to be given to various dietary limitations... Sugar free... Gluten free... Use of spices We highly recommend staying at the Dan Tel Aviv

I’ve worked in the industry for many years, so I’m probably harder to please than most, but I absolutely do know what I’m talking about. Having said that, read my review and make your own mind up. Honestly, this was a huge disappointment. Our first family holiday, and we paid a good amount of money to stay at what we believed to be a premium hotel. We didn’t expect luxury. We did expect hospitality. Here’s why The Dan Tel Aviv let itself down last week. * Initial impression was good. A lengthy but friendly check in, with cold water brought to us at the desk - much appreciated. However, I’ve never stayed in a hotel before (I’ve stayed in many across the globe) where I had to settle the full bill on check in. * Family room booked. A nice room with 2 separate spaces. Perfect for us with 2 young kids. * Numerous examples of painfully, excruciatingly slow and unresponsive service: 1) Requested additional coffee pods - took 2 phone calls to get them. But why should I have had to ask? Why did the Housekeeper not notice when they cleaned the room and emptied the Nespresso machine? 2) Housekeeper removed used coffee cups and glasses but didn’t replace them. Had to call down to request more. 3) Sent laundry for next day return. It was returned 2 days later, but only after 4 phone calls and 2 visits to Reception. And yet, I was still charged 50% of the price. The first call I made, the Housekeeper simply responded with “ok” and hung up the phone. What exactly does that mean? 4) I filled in a survey sent via SMS on my first night. I marked that there were issues with my room. No bath plug. In a family room….?! I filled the survey in late at night (22:30 approximately). The bedroom phone rang at 22:45 to discuss it with me. Who calls ANY room at 22:45, let alone a room with a 6mth old and a 3yr old sleeping? The Receptionist was not answered with any form of welcome response and I told them I wanted to deal with it another time. Unsurprisingly, no follow up by the hotel. 5) Breakfast…. Food quality was great. Service was appalling. Every single day, the table we were sat at was missing something (menus, cutlery). Massively over staffed, and yet still impossible to get any form of customer focus/service. 2 managers were standing right in front of the buffet on a main walkway. As I approached, one ushered that I should walk around them. Excuse me? Who’s the paying guest? Have your meeting anywhere else in the hotel. Rarely a smile from the majority of the team who moped around aimlessly. 6) The security guard handing out tools at the beach door - refused to give me towels because I didn’t have a card. Why? What’s the point in the vouchers when no one checks they are or are not returned anyway? Not once in a week did anyone check we had returned the towels. So why not give us towels, instead of forcing my wife to go to reception to get them. I could come up with many more examples of when it felt like we as guests were simply in the way. I’m so so sorry to have interrupted your day with my status as a paying guest, who’s paying your salary. * The majority of staff were disengaged, unfriendly, and unwilling to help, especially if this wasn’t their department. I mean, taking some form of ownership to deal with an issue would be that little bit too hard wouldn’t it! * NEVER in the entirety of my stay was the word “sorry” used to me. * Every phone call endured a long wait for an answer. I paid thousands of pounds to stay at the hotel. Some staff were great. Some of the bell team in particular were fantastic. No one EVER asked how my stay was, nor whether I was satisfied at any point. But I already know why… It’s the arrogance that many big city hotels have - that if I don’t return, someone else will, so it doesn’t matter that much anyway. Then add a layer of individual team member arrogance and complete lack of customer service, and you’re there. Really really poor, and really makes me wish we’d stayed somewhere else. Ref: Room 438, 20-27 August. I’ll keep my hopes low for any sort of direct response.

The front desk is rude and unprofessional. This was our third Israel hotel stay in the same week and the only one that I would not recommend. Unprofessional, rude, dated hotel. Spend your money elsewhere. It’s decades behind what a 5 star hotel actually looks like. Only positive is a delicious well done breakfast.

It’s an old yet very unprofessional, unorganised hotel . We travel at least once a year to Israel , I insisted on staying at the DAN because I never stayed there before and I regret now Staff caught spraying my perfume as wife walked in room(security breach) , We complained immediately to reception and we’re approached by a manager ( MAYA) that apologised and promised to compensate us , followed up by letting friends and family to come in to the pool and accommodate us with few treats ( ice creams , beers, ) and wipes out the room service charges . For us , it was the fact the our privacy was breached and that who really knows what staff are doing in our rooms when we are not there . We were approached by head of security that promised us the guy who went through our belongings was fired( we never asked for the offender to get fired yet we were told that ) , that was a lie as we saw the same guy every day working in different rooms ! As we enquired about that with the general manager (Ilan ) , he “wasn’t sure” why we were told that by the head of security . The rooms are old and some electrical sockets were not working . AVOID THE DAN TEL AVIV!!! We contacted management and they lied saying they never stated they will fire the offender. Bellboys greeted us with his mouth Full of food . Poor hospitality through and through . It was a very expensive and did not justify the price we paid as we really did not enjoy our stay .

It couldn’t have got off to a worse start. We arrived after midnight - it took 45 mins to check in despite no queue and only a group of three. We were told there was a problem with the computer - any proper 5* hotel would let you go to your bedroom and sort in the morning. Not this one. Breakfast was average at best. Buffet style with a la carte option as well. Nothing looked over appetising and again underwhelming against many other hotels I’ve used during business. Room - clean, tidy and arguably the best part of the review. I did receive a sea view which was great. This is the ‘new’ section of the hotel. I understand there is an older section which isn’t quite as nice. A colleague l received a non-smoking room which smelt badly of cigarettes. They did change the room upon asking but again something to be aware of. Service overall relatively pleasant. Not 5* service but not atrocious (outside of check in). One day at breakfast we were very well attended to. Overall not the best (and certainly not 5*) and not the worst. Reasonable priced for tel aviv. So as long as you manage expectations around the perception of stars vs the cost, it probably isn’t the worst of options.

Food was 5 starts - both breakfast and dinner. Service deserved zero. Always a single person at the reception. Impossible to get a menu or find out restaurant prices. When calling from a room, you are bounced from one number to another until someone agrees to consider your request. The room was booked for 3 people and had 2 towels, 2 cups etc. on arrival. Humidity is unbearable - even the dry clothes become wet and water splashes in the bathroom do not dry out. The majority of staff do not speak English and openly ignore non-native speakers. It is classed as a beach hotel, however there is no direct beach access or any arrangements to use the beach facilities. After the check out a duty manager attempted to improve the experience by offering a free lounge, but we only had half an hour left to enjoy. This was the most expensive and the most unwelcome hotel we stayed in. Though buffet food was amazing!

Just finished an 8 days vacation in Israel, great place with great weather, beaches, food and people but the Dan Tel Aviv was absolute mistake, they do charge as a 5 star hotel ( we had 2 rooms, family of 5) but the hotel is Old, rooms are in not that good condition (including the ones that are already renovated) but the worst is that 99% of the staff has no preparation for working in the hotel. There are so many bad things that I can write regarding our stay in the hotel but since basically it was all bad experience I won’t go in to long story. Just if you can better go to other good hotel that appreciate there costumers and give better service for what they charge. Just to make it clear we are so disappointed that we are looking into the possibility to demand the hotel for a full refund because it’s obvious we paid for something we have never received.

I arrived at 3:50 and front desk receptionist after waiting 15 to 20 minutes tells me ok great just need credit card and passport etc. And you’ll be good to go (or stay) I provided the requested and signed some forms and then she drops the great news oh your room isn’t ready yet I’m like oh ok when will it be ready she’s like I don’t know it can be 5 minutes but it can also be 5 hours you will get a text once room is ready it is now 54 hours later and still have not received that text after an hour and half waiting in their very hot lobby on the very uncomfortable old dated couch which looks like they got by a free giveaway or garage sale of one of their great grand aunts apartment clean out I called Hotels.com because I booked thru them and it took for Hotels.com over an hour to get in touch with someone at their reservation department only to be told that unfortunately they cannot provide a refund because the room is almost ready (I guessed stay tuned the room might still get ready at some point) so dear reader if you’re reading this review and you’re considering staying in this old dump that they call 5 star hotel which I personally think it’s typo from 0.005 star just run fly away from that old stinky shelter looking motel and don’t look back I have not received any refund or any type of communication back from this motel that goes by the name of Dan Hotel Tell Aviv 3 days later I called emailed and trying this now maybe they still operate by fax only who knows besides the fact that they have the rudest staff I’ve ever seen in any motel or even hotel which they claim to be, they place is old and smelled like dead fish and it looked horrible and in that hour and half I unfortunately spent there I watched 6 out 8 parties checking in either walk away or staff getting into arguments with them so to sum this up this place is old and grumpy the staff is rude and grumpy they act like they are forced to be there besides the bunch of kids that work in bell service or valet parking or some other service that they advertise and not provide that were seating on the couches in the lobby taking up all the places and playing games yes games there till manager came to them and told them to be quieter maybe dear manager try to help your paying guest instead of babysitting those kids
