    Amazing location, beautiful design
The room is small but well designed and really beautiful. The beds were too soft for me, but that's always a problem for me at hotels. The location is very central, there is no parking but a short walk away you can park in a garage. I would skip breakfast and go eat at the market or one of the many nearby cafes (breakfast is in a cafe anyway).
Dear scarlet_snowhite. It was our pleasure to welcome you at the Poli House Hotel again.Thank you for your kind review! It gives me great pleasure to read your remarks about the hotel design and central location. We are looking forward to welcome once again at the Poli House. Kind regards, Ron

    Stylish hotel with impractical bedrooms
First the good: the hotel is in a great, central location steps away from Carmel Market. The staff were all friendly, the views from the (heated) rooftop pool are glorious, particularly at sunset, and the lobby and common areas are any design lover’s dream. What really disappointed us, however, was our room. We booked a Poli Deluxe room without a balcony on the basis that (i) we were visiting in January and (ii) we’d read that the rooms fronting the Main Street were quite noisy. This category of room looked fairly spacious on the website. In actually fact we were given a rather small room with a balcony. Perhaps the hotel thought they were doing us a favour by giving us a room with a balcony but it was really noisy at night. The room itself was frustratingly impractical, particularly the bathroom. There were sloping shelves which were quite small anyway but their design meant our cosmetics slid off them. There were no hooks anywhere in the room to hang jackets/coats or towels and no tea/coffee making facilities. It is like the designer of the room never actually considered what staying in the room would be like. We only stayed two nights but I don’t think we could have tolerated the room much longer. We otherwise loved the hotel but the ridiculous design of the rooms alone is reason enough as to why we wouldn’t stay here again.
Dear Curly_Kale64 . It was our pleasure to welcome you at the Poli House Hotel . Thank you for your kind review! It gives me great pleasure to read your remarks about the hotel location, facilities and above all staff kind service. however great location come at a proce of city noise , that may come in. you where locky as one of our delux room have a balcony , so this is the room you gut. We are looking forward to welcome once again in the near future. Kind regards, Ron

    A bit too fancy
All in all I liked the hotel, there were just a few things that annoyed me. The first thing was the reception. For some reason it's on the topfloor of the hotel. Why not on the groundfloor? There was plenty of room. The hotel is situated in a beautifully restored Bauhaus building and the rooms are nicely designed and of a decent size. But why were there no hooks in the bathroom or in the room proper? My towels were draped over a chair in the room. I booked a room with a balcony of its own - great. But the chairs on the balcony were very uncomfortable. I tried bringing the chair (with the draped towel :-)) to the balcony, but it was too big. I'm sure the balcony chairs were designed by a very famous designer, but I really would prefer a less expensive chair that you can actually sit in without hurting your back. The hotel is located just next to the Carmel Market and very close to Shenkin and King George Street with a lot of cafés and restaurants, and it only takes about 10 minutes to walk to the beach. The rooftop with the bar and the pool is just great and the reason why I'm considering booking another stay a Poli House
Dear Sigrutten . It was our pleasure to welcome you at the Poli House . Thank you for your kind review! indeed crazy design makes us different from other hotels. It gives me great pleasure to read your remarks about the hotel location ,room design , rooftop bar and swimming pool . We are looking forward to welcome once again in the near future. Kind regards, Ron

Very not worth the money. the location is the only good thing about it. the sheets were dirty, the shower was filthy (including hair on the floor) i asked for additional pillows 3 times before i got them - and also after that the woman at the front desk was rude. Really disappointing.

Great area to stay in. Hotel is clean. Room is nice. The pool is lovely but usually too crowded to swim in. You can just sit and lounge. The sunbeds are nice but on the minus side people put their stuff on them and then leave so they are often taken. I like that for breakfast you get coupons to nearby cafes. I’d probably stay here again.

First off, religious Jews should make sure not to stay here! When I checked in on Friday I asked the front desk for a metal key to use on Shabbat. It took her a while to find it, but she gave it to me. Before Shabbat began I ran an errand and when I returned to the hotel, I noticed that I needed to use my key card to swipe in. (This is presumably for security, as the front desk is located on the rooftop and there is really nothing going on on the entrance level.) I returned to the front desk and asked the woman there how to enter the hotel on Shabbat and she said that since I couldn't swipe, I could ring the bell. As a Shabbat-observant Jew I can't use either the electric key card or the electric doorbell on Shabbat, and I told her that. She told me "well then you'll just have to find someone to ring for you." Shabbat-observant Jews also won't ask someone to do something on Shabbat that they can't do themselves, so I had to wait outside the hotel for a very long time upon returning on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, until someone else came along who was going inside. More generally, there were a couple of gross cleanliness moments. I found a huge cockroach in my shower one morning. I also came back one evening to find the bathmat neatly folded, but sitting in the sink, which was odd and kind of gross. Additionally, the water coming out of the shower smelled persistently sulfuric, which is weird given that Israel has great tap water. Finally, the blackout curtains in my room were stuck closed on one side, obstructing my view from the window and restricting the amount of light that comes into the room. Mid way through my stay, while I was trying to close the curtains on the other side, the dangling handle you use to move the curtain fell off. Rather than fixing it, the housekeeping staff just pushed it under the curtains, where it remained until the end of my stay. All in all, it wasn't a nightmare stay or anything like that. The location is good (though *loud*), and the rooftop pool/lounge is nice. Still, I will never stay here again, certainly not over Shabbat, and if you are a Shabbat observant Jew, you won't want to stay here either.

Response from Poli House, Guest Services / Front Office at The Poli House by Brown Hotels

Dear Sefi, We're so sorry to read about your experience. Cleanliness is one of our most important parameters in the hotel and we do everything we can to keep it as clean and well maintained as possible as it also shown by all the great grades we get about it. Sometimes, as it might happen in a big city and with lots of construction going on around us - insects can go into the hotel even though we have pest control and fumigation as part of the routine. We deeply apologize about the inconvenience casued to you by the shabbt and the front door - but as the hotel isn't kosher it's not equipped or set up for shabbat observants - although we do have religious guests frequently, we are doing our outmost and best to serve our guests to the maximum. We do hope you were able to enjoy Tel Aviv and the fantastic neighborhood around us. Best, The Poli Team.

My 20 yo daughter and I had a wonderful stay! It’s in the perfect location in the Carmel Market near the Shuk, cafes, with tons of great shopping close by. Our concierge Michaela selected the perfect restaurants for my daughter and I every night. It was fun to explore but also relax on the roof top pool. I would 100% recommend this hotel. Our room was very clean too.

At first view we were a bit apprehensive about The Poli House . We arrived at 5.30 am and the first thing we saw was the 7/11 store. This seems to have been blurred out of the official photos. We walked round the side of the building, buzzed to be let in and instantly our opinion changed. Suddenly we’re we’re in quirky building with huge pod-like chairs. It was bright, spacious and airy. Check in (on the 3rd floor) was quick and easy. Our room was 213, which had a balcony, but to be honest it’s not really worth it. It was very narrow with two high stools and nothing else. The room was compact, but had everything you need. A nice touch was a free bottle of kosher Prosecco and a bottle of Ouzo. My only complaint about the room would be lack of hanging space. The wardrobe was wide but full of shelves. There was no where for me to hang any of my dresses. A hook on the back of the door would have been helpful. The bed was really comfortable with lovely plump pillows. As our room was opposite son bars and restaurants there was some noise, but it really didn’t disturb us, normally because we were in said bars until they shut! The rooftop bar and swimming pool were lovely, all the bar tenders were very friendly. There was free tea and coffee until 1pm daily and free iced water available all day, with fresh lemon and oranges to add to it. Most days the it was easy to get a lounger round the pool, until it came to Shabbat. I am not convinced all the people around the pool were staying at the hotel. There were large groups of people taking over all the cabanas bringing in their own drinks, smoking around the pool and generally being disruptive. The the hotel is centrally located for a great stay in Tel Aviv. 10 minute walk to the beach, plenty of bars and restaurants on your doorstep. And close to Jaffa Old Town. Aside from the two issues, We would certainly come back.

Absolutely perfect to enjoy Tel Aviv a few days : wonderful location in the middle of the town, in the middle of the life ! The rooftop is amazing with a small swimming pool, a bar and a solarium perfect to relaxe before enjoying nightlife ! Be just aware that It could be noisy, that the rooms are not big … what is just in the story Spéciale dédicace to the hostess so kind and efficient : they highlight all the qualities of the hotel ps prefer the Birenbaum breakfast instead of the Hoshimer even if is closer (not a lot of choices and not welcoming people)

Great location in Carmel market . Nice rooftop bar and pool that does bar snacks (burgers , salads, chicken wings ) . All staff really friendly and helpful . Room has blackout curtain over one window and not the other which makes it pointless ! Light streams in from 6 am . Hotel doesn’t do breakfast which is a pain , they have a deal with a local cafe which is good but a walk away and doesn’t do food until 10 am . Clean functional rooms .
