The hotel looked great on the webpage, and geographically it is good… so I booked a "Classic" room via a 3rd party booking site for a business trip in Jerusalem.... Pretty sure I ended up with an "Economy" room (please see pictures to build your own opinion), and of course confronted the staff about it.... But they of course claimed I got a "Classic" room and that there was an error with pictures caused by the 3rd party company. But when visiting their own webpage I can still see that the room I stayed in also was "closer" the Economy room according to their webpage (even if the pictures on the webpage in that case looked waaaaaay better than reality. You can find the hotels pictures at their webpage... which I cannot link to in this review) Actually both types of rooms looks on the pictures 100 million times better than the room I got. And it annoys me that they lied to my face saying that it was the 3rd party company that had wrong pictures on their webpage… when clearly both webpages have the same pictures. But in all fairness the 3rd party company were great and actually refunded me a coupon... so they are absolutely not to blame. I have been visiting Israel/Jerusalem on multiple occasions for work, so I have other hotels/rooms to compare to in the same price range... but this hotel takes first place in crappiness... Bottom line, I will never ever return to Shani, nor will any of my colleagues working in the same company... and neither should you... probably you get better service/rooms even in a hostel than this "hotel". The only good thing I can think of for this hotel is its location which in all fairness was great. But still, I will never return.

Terrible hotel! Everything was wrong! When I complained the manager agreed with me! Very noisy, filthy, bad WiFi connection and the elevator was always packed so I used to climb four flights of stairs! The rooms next to ours were being refurbished and workers woke us up at seven every single morning! And it is a very expensive place! I can only say that the location is excellent but as the windows are not isolated it is really noisy at night, and We were woken up at 7 so no rest at all!

Good place to stay for few days with kids. Breakfast is super. Ask for wood floors rooms. Access to Jerusalem old city is very easy. There are near by as many choices of bars, snacks, restaurants as any would want. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Check in is stated to be 3pm but I (and several other guests) had to wait until 10:30 pm to check in. They said it was due to construction, electrical problems, Shabbat and another group’s late check out. I think it was a little of everything! The manager knew about these problems in advance but made no effort to come in, answer his phone when his staff were calling, contact guests or offer compensation for such a major inconvenience. I think we deserve a refund for such a horrible experience and waste of time. Once we got into the room construction began outside making loud noises with the bar below. Staff were decent but unhelpful in this situation. Attached is a photo of two other guests who also had to wait! It was ridiculous! I had to sign a paper saying that I would check out by 11am, so why is that different for others? If that is the case for Shabbat it should be clearly stated in advance on the website! When I spoke with the manager the next day he took my name and number and said he would “see what he can do.” I haven’t heard back so I’m giving them a poor review. Apparently, this is all I can do about what happened! It’s a real shame, because if this had gone differently, they could have had a repeat customer and a good review from a world traveler.
