We stayed 8 nights here; it was clean, staff was very attentive, loved the free water dispense in the office, the free hot pomegranate tea in the lobby, and it was a short 15 minute walk to the Old City. There is also a buffet for both breakfast and dinner with a variety of options. Our large group had a special event in their private room reserved on a Friday evening, and the wait staff and meal were perfect. We appreciated the special accommodations.
The only drawback is the small rooms. Not much counter space in the bathroom, but you can make shift counter space with the shelves in the closet. Everything else was very comfortable!

This was our second time here as a couple. Previous visit was with a group, this time independent. The room was comfortable and warm, in spite of January weather.
Hotel was built mid 1930s. It has been well maintained and is in good condition.
Guests in adjacent rooms were noisy on Friday evening. Other nights quiet.
Food was excellent. We had breakfast 4 mornings and dinner 2 nights.
Beware of booking through third party companies, as they may not show desired room and meal details. It is best to book directly with hotel, to ensure correct meals are included.

We recently spent a wonderful week in Jerusalem and chose to stay at the Prima Royal. We stayed there 10 years ago and while we like to experiment with new places, we opted for the site thing.

Prima Royal was all that we remembered. Wonderfully located. Easily accessible with a staff that worked hard to meet our needs and requests. They were top notch.

We stayed in a Junior Suite. It had ample room but, like the property in general, bore the scars left by the many tour groups that shuffle in and out throughout the week. The room layout and furnishings were appropriate but it’s time for a cosmetic rehab.

The lobby cappuccinos were great however when there was no group on the property the bar was not always staffed. The Israeli breakfast buffet was good although expensive as we hadn’t booked with half board.

Again, a solid place to stay when in Jerusalem. Not a lot of amenities but a good value.

I brought a group of people to this hotel on the belief and representations by the hotel that it is a 4-star property. It does not even come close.
The rooms are tiny and outfitted with very basic, dated furnishings. I had numerous complaints from my group about the following:
Beds in the twin rooms are extremely narrow (maybe 80cm, maybe less).
Carpets in all of the rooms we occupied looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years
The bathroom had a bathtub with a shower curtain !! and showed signs of mould in some cases.
Some rooms were ice cold (it was January) and could not be properly heated up.
The hotel staff were polite but mostly disinterested and preoccupied.

The food at breakfast was OK but the staff poorly trained. Constantly they cleared unfinished plates of food (in my case I had to replace my cup of tea 3x because they kept taking it away). The staff are pleasant but not well managed.

I was extremely disappointed in this hotel and whatever agency gives it 4 stars. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone on that basis.

This is a 4 star hotel in its dreams only. It is very clean. It's location an 18 minute walk from the old city Jaffa Gate is good. The buffet breakfast and dinner acceptable if identical day after day. That is where the plusses end. The small rooms have 2 single beds pushed together to form a kind of queen. Very hard mattresses and very smooshy pillows. They have a bottom sheet but above there is no top sheet or blankets just the 2 small duvets overlapped pretending to be a single queen. But don't worry, you won't use them anyway. The rooms are small and stuffy but if you turn on the AC only hot air flows into the room. A call to the front desk informs you that AC is only available in the summer and instructs you to open the window. Even if it is late at night and the temperature has dropped to 55F outside there is no air exchange so the room stays hot. Duvets on the floor. But the window does let you enjoy traffic noise until about midnight or so and then beginning again about 4:30 AM. Be sure to bring your earplugs! There is no pool or fitness center. There is an outside patio area with a door that automatically locks behind you and chained gates leading to the street. And a small bar that serves one type of cheap wine or gin with flat tonic. The hotel serves tour groups almost exclusively. They have no choice; if you do be sure not to stay here.

We stayed for two nights (Thursday and Friday nights) and this hotel was adequate for our needs. The room was basic but had enough storage space, was clean and the beds were extremely comfortable.
The downside was that a roof terrace was advertised and this was not available. The breakfast on Saturday (Shabbat) morning was in a dingy room in the basement of the hotel.
We were lucky to secure a space in the hotel's car park but there were a limited number of spaces (no more than 12) which meant that anyone else would have to pay for street parking (free from Friday 1pm until Sunday morning but chargeable at all other times).
All in all the hotel met our needs but we were really only there to sleep as we were attending a family event over the weekend nearby.

The hotel is in a semi-residential area, slightly away from the main tourist sites. Yet, we were easily able to walk to the old city and back in 15-20 minutes. It was also convenient to walk to Hebron Rd and catch the bus to Bethlehem. There are a couple of pizza places and a restaurant within few minutes walk, as well as a small grocery store a block away.

We stayed at the hotel for five nights. Our room was on a higher floor and from the window we could mostly see a close by hotel. The room was clean and reasonably equipped. The walls are this and for the first couple of nights we were woken up by the same neighbors that were returning around midnight and talking loudly. The hotel seems to cater to large groups (almost every day we saw buses in front).

The electronic door lock did not work for the first four days and we had to keep asking and returning the regular physical key to open the door. Every time we checked we were told it will be repaired. Our reservation included several perks, that, were not immediately provided. Only after some back and forth with the front desk and the management we cleared that out the next day.

Overall, a good value for the money paid, especially since we planned our trip late and most hotels were booked.

Quite easily one of the worst hotels we have had to pay for in our 2 month overseas holiday. Consistently disinterested staff, ridiculously small elevators (one closed for the Jewish Sabbath which is ironic because if one is operating then it makes no difference), but 2 people and their suitcases could barely fit in. Considering 2 bus tour groups were checking in that’s nearly 50 people needing an elevator. 2 single beds for a married couple, room with a view of next doors wall. Dinner included, buffet was dreadful, staff were rude and took dishes away before you had finished your meal but that may have been a blessing given that the meals were awful. Breakfast buffet spread was limiting. Keep looking, I am sure you can do much better.

I've stayed in Jerusalem many, many times in many different hotels, including the Inbal, King David, Orient, Plaza, etc. There was limited availability at our usual hotels at the time that we wanted to stay in November, so we took a chance on the Prima Royale. It is located a stone's throw away from the Inbal and the Dan Panorama. We were thoroughly pleased that the hotel exceeded all expectations. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The room was updated, very clean, and very comfortable. The shower was good. The breakfast and Shabbat dinner were great. They weren't as extravagant as what you'd find in a five star hotel, but the buffets were extensive and the food was all delicious. This was an outstanding hotel experience at less than half the cost of the fanciest places in the area. We would definitely come back. Highly recommend!!

Room was very nice , had everything we needed .Breakfast was a very good Buffett, loads of choice. It was a comfortable stay , but the only downside is the foyer and breakfast room is a little bit tired and needs a refurb to bring it up to date. The hotel needs a good interior designer .Bar was a good stop off place for after dinner drinks but on my last night , they had run out of Israeli beer which was disappointing .
But , we liked the location, felt very safe even walking at night , 10 minutes and we reached the Mamilla Mall , which is a stones throw from Jaffa gate and you are in the Old City.
Not the best hotel I’ve stayed in , but it was a good stay in a magical city which we have great memories of .

Hello. I want to know in detail about the buffet breakfast they serve. Is it veg or non veg?
Answer from dcdriver
Jerusalem, Israel657 contributions130 helpful votes
If by "veg" you mean not vegetarian (and not vegan), then yes, it's vegetarian. No meat is served at breakfast. If you mean vegan, it'll be a little more challenging, as eggs are central. Lots of vegetables, though, and there's usually humus and tehini sauce. So, either way, there should be plenty to eat.
