Stayed at the David Citadel Hotel in January 2020 for 6 nights. Hotel is very centrally located, right near the Jaffa Gate. Easy walking to Old Jerusalem. Manila Mall right around the corner. Many delicious restaurants within walking distance. Hotel room and bathroom very large. Beds comfortable and bathroom had heated towel rack and large soaker tub as well as shower with rain shower as on option. Has a great desk area with charging ports. Bathrobes and slippers supplied as well as great toiletries daily. Room has a stocked refrigerator ( extra cost but convenient) and coffee maker in room. Bed turn down at night with free waters bottles every day in room. Breakfast was abundant-Our server Said was so professional. When we entered the dining room he had our tea and coffee for us. Dining rooms were great-had dinner at hotel one night. Concierge was FABULOUS, MAYA was the BEST ever!! so attentive, always a smile, went out of her way to help us. True professional! There was a spa and outdoor heated pool but we did not use. Many seating area's around the lobby. Front desk very helpful. There were banquet rooms lower level. This hotel is high class and made our 1st Trip to Israel one of our highlights!!

Perfect location, elegant guest rooms, gracious staff.

Marvelous, somewhat new, hotel located in the heart of Jerusalem.

Housekeeping kept rooms fresh and evening service included not just turning down the bed but also provided bottled water, freshening the bathroom towels & supplies.

The concierge recommended terrific restaurants and reserved tables for us. We were received like VIPs. Concierge will also organize tours and/or transportation for you and recommend the gift, museum, gallery.

By far the Best hotel in Jerusalem. Will return!

This was my 7th trip to Jerusalem and David Citadel is the best of the best (This was our first time at this hotel but we had scoped out the David Citadel on our prior trip) . Someone walked us to our room when we checked in and provided explanations along the way. The hotel is is walking distance from The Old City, Mamilla and Ben Yehuda St. The accommodations were amazing. I loved the closet and shelving and the way the bathroom is situated! It offers privacy. I even liked the way the shower had floor to ceiling glass so it did not fog up the bathroom when showering!

The breakfast buffet is a real treat and our waiter Samir definitely knows how to treat guests.

This hotel really knows service and they have the location and accommodation to boot. David Citadel made our trip to Jerusalem.

I stayed at this hotel approximately 20 years ago and did not have a good experience and vowed never to come back. Unfortunately, I was w a conference and they booked the rooms at the Citadel.

While the hotel is pretty and in an excellent location, it is poorly managed.

I had requested and paid for an upgrade but they did not give me an upgraded room. In fact, I was on top of the restaurant rather than a high floor. The room was small as well. When I asked if this was the upgrade I paid for I was told yes. I then asked one of my colleagues who in fact had An upgraded room if I could seE it. It was huge and had a Beautiful view. I also asked a colleague who had not upgraded to see their room and it was the same as mine. Management denied that my room was not upgraded until I told them I had inspected several rooms.
Eventually they did not charge for an upgrade.

In addition,I had no hot water in The shower for two days. The tiles are marble but not honed and therefore slippery.

The bedside pencil did not work.

Housekeeping is sloppy. They put body lotion instead of hair conditioners in the shower. Easy error but sloppy.

They do not refill bathroom supplies dIly. No cotton balls. Qtips, etc refilled.

In the restaurant, while the food is very good
The service is terrible. What is the point of having waiters if they don’t come around? No coffee, salt and pepper. No removal of dishes, etc. I had to wait half An hour for coffee or milk. They never set out teaspoons either. Again, sloppy!!! The guests should not have to leave the table repeatedly to get coffee or spoons or food.

When I called to complain to the manager, nobody picked up. After going in person to the fro t desk, it took a day for him to call me.

The gym is nice.

I will not go back.

My wife and I were part of a small group led by two pastors from our church visiting Israel for the first time, and we had wonderful stay at this hotel located right at the Western Wall entrance to the old city of Jerusalem.

David Citadel is the sister property to the King David hotel situated just a couple of blocks away, but is more reasonably priced than than the top tier King David. That being said, nothing was missing from our accommodations, as the ambiance, quality of rooms and restaurant service were all impeccable.

We would particularly like to commend Issa, the restaurant manager, for his oversight of a very attentive and considerate serving staff which includes Hadas, Muffed (sp), Chen and Abed. The breakfast buffet is spectacular, with a huge array of offerings appealing to a myriad of tastes.

The location of this hotel is perfect for easy entry into the old city, as well as being close to premier shopping. Should we find ourselves back in Israel on another occasion, we would seek out this property as our #1 choice to stay while there.

The hotel is located a very short walk from the Jaffa Gate of the old city and offers spectacular sun rises over the wall. After flying all the way to Jerusalem we decided to upgrade ourselves into a nice suite which incorporated a large lounge area and sleeping area all the same space, but it was big enough to prove a nice sense of separation. The room also had its own lobby area, The big benefit of this room was that it had a huge terrace and an amazing view. The room was decorated in nice earth tones and dark colours, providing a very comfortable feeling.

The lobby was small but almost perfect in size providing a degree of intimacy in a densely populated city. Breakfast is best taken on the terrace – amazing with the sun and the views of the wall.

We had the worst experience at this hotel. The front desk person Ameer didn’t like that we complained about them charging us for an extra person after we already booked the room. So 15 mins later he gave keys to our room to another guest, who shocked us when he came in to our room. I wouldn’t book this hotel again. The service is worse than much cheaper hotels I have stayed in.

Where do I begin. We were in Jerusalem over Christmas which is the busiest time for the hotel but the service did not disappoint. The breakfast was fantastic and our waiter was amazing. We sat on the outside terrace and it was bright and inviting. The omelettes were delicious and the choices were overwhelming. The room was a nice size (#849-an alcove room) and housekeeping was great. The hotel is right across the street from the mamilla mall which was helpful when the airline lost my kids luggage and it is walking distance from the old city. We requested a city view which you could see if you crane your neck from the window. Basically the way the hotel is laid out, most rooms either view the city, or they view the other side of the hotel with the pool in the middle and a partial view of the old city. The closer you can be to the middle of the hotel, the better your view of the old city. One area which isn’t the best was the bell staff. It may just be a difference in expectations, but usually the people at the front door of the hotel get taxis for you. Except for one night, they never even tried to get us a taxi. We would have to go out to the Main Street and find our own. There were three hotel employees just standing at the door of the hotel rather than helping with taxis. It would’ve been especially helpful for them to translate as some taxi drivers had a hard time finding our restaurants. We found this at other hotels in Israel so perhaps it is just the way things are done there. Either way, we loved the hotel and would go back in a second!

We were very happy with this hotel. We enjoyed our visit and were with several friends touring Israel. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner most evenings and were very happy with the selections. The closeness to the Jaffe Gate gave us quick and easy access to Old Jerusalem.

The upscale restaurant within this hotel (Scala maybe?) was not impressive AT ALL! For a large group, they would set down one small bowl of food and expect everyone to share. One small chicken breast was sliced into four pieces and set before six people to share. This meal just dragged on forever and a day and we all left hungry. I'm sure we paid out the wazoo for this meal. Our travel organizer took care of paying the bill so I"m not entirely sure what it ended up costing.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a group tour and were very pleased overall. It has a great location, easily walkable from anywhere in the Old City. The rooms are luxurious with marble bath, tub, tons of closet space, Frette sheets, living and bedroom areas separated with a shelving unit, and balcony overlooking the Old City (from an angle, but it’s still lovely to watch the sun rise over the city walls). Breakfast and dinner buffets were fine; the desserts were fantastic. Service could use a little improvement for this level of hotel: staff tended to forget requests for drinks in the restaurant or items in the room (although laundry was done promptly, which we appreciated!), turndown service came as late as 9pm, and housekeeping did not replace all of the towels they took away. But overall we had a very comfortable stay and would recommend this hotel.

We did laundry at the Hotel. There is a bag in your room with a form you fill out and put outside the door in the mornings. Just be aware, that this is relatively expensive...
