Two of us spent four nights in a mini suite of this classic hotel now celebrating its ninetieth year in business. We stayed just after Israel opened up to individual tourists and found that the property had resumed the highest level of hospitality and comfort. This mini suite would pass for the presidential suite in many properties. The living room was of good size with a comfortable sofa, a desk working surface equipped with local power, and guest seating. A particular feature was the very modern lighting, air conditioning, housekeeping signaling, and drapes switching systems which provided the simplest of methods of controlling one’s environment. The bedroom had the most comfortable of beds, while the bathroom was equally accessible from both - with sliding doors providing separation, privacy, and noise reduction among the three rooms and the foyer. The bathroom was narrow and long not providing easy access to the lavatory (with bidet) and rainhead shower when one of the twin sinks was in use. The bathroom was well equipped with quality amenities and there was a refrigerator (with complimentary soft drinks) and coffee/tea maker. All the front, food and beverage, and housekeeping staffs were amiable, proficient and solicitous of ones well being. The service standard was the highest with one exception - failure to uniformly enforce the much advertised code of face masks to be worn at all times by guests when not eating or drinking. Too often we found groups of individuals seated in the lobby/lounge and bar areas, walking the hallways, and using the elevators without face covering. Access to the property is by a narrow driveway which does lead to blockages while vehicles are waiting or being loaded or unloaded. But having said all that we had the finest stay in the very top group of all the world class, grande hotels at which we have stayed over the past many years.

Hotel's Favorite
We just spent a few days at this hotel with our family, kids and grandchildren included. We had magnificent rooms on the renovated sixth floor with an unrivalled view of the old city. Super comfy beds and luxurious linens. The service was outstanding, and the pool and grounds unique, sprawling, spotless and gorgeous. The breakfast was also excellent, somewhat different from the usual israeli breakfast, with a twist of traditional middle eastern style crossed with British. We loved the historic aspect of the hotel, and all benefited from a historic tour of the hotel which was put on one afternoon. All in all we had a relaxing, indulgent enjoyable family trip which will long be remembered. Particular thanks to Jeremy S who helped us work out the best configuration of rooms for our family and attended to our every need with kindness and professionalism.

My wife and I ended our trip to Israel with a stay at The King David, a truly amazing property. Unfortunately COVID has had an impact especially at the staff level. Trained senior staff were placed in the lobby area to triage, but it was the initial interaction with wait staff, hostess’ that required involvement of experienced staff such as Jeremy. Understandably La Regence was closed, and room service menu was limited as we are here just as Israel opened back up. Room service pasta dishes were very good, but likely the worst pot of coffee ever from room service in the morning - the in room Nespresso more than made up for it. In closing, we have great empathy for hotel management as clearly the labor shortage has resulted in untrained entry level staff which is not a criticism but rather just an acknowledgement of COVID reality. We’d stay here again and again and give it 5 stars for it is truly venerable, but like everywhere the property is struggling. We are sure they’ll right the ship.

We spent this weekend - two nights - at the hotel to celebrate a birthday. And from the minute we set foot at the hotel we felt like royalty! The service is second to none (Jeremy!!! and Karawe in particular) , the staff knew us by name and the special occasion was recorded and acknoledged throughout our stay. The hotel itself is beautiful and very well maintained. We had great view from our room to the old city and the gardens are beautiful. Obviously the location is perfect - you can easily travel by foot to the main attractions and restaurants. Breakfast was amazing as well. I also understand from my partner that the hotel staff were exceptionally helpful in the days before our arrival to prepare the celebration. The overall experience was very very special and the price was competitive.

Great and nice Chief of concierge, Jeremy Weiss ! We met at the front desk and lobby. Jeremy was more than helpful with my clients, staying in the hotel for one night. Moreover, this was the start of a new German-Israeli friendship.
