On the plus side, I like the location of the New Swedish Hostel. It's right smack in the middle of the Old City and just a few minutes walk from the Holy Sepulcher. Wifi connection is good, and the bedding were clean. BUT the manager screamed at me when I arrived because he was eating and didn't want to be...

Clean, decent blankets. Warmish, not hot water. The showers remind me of a train carriage in terms of space, but if you are in need of accommodation in the Old City, it's better than nothing at 55shekels a night. Free tea, coffee and chocolate, but no milk nor breakfast.

The receptionist, Karim, was complaining and criticizing every step in my check in process. Depressing place. Ugly and no style. No shared sitting area, no terrace, no breakfast. Don't go there, please.

I slept in the dorm for one night. Everything was clean, bathroom and kitchen as well. Free tea, coffee and hot chocolate (all powder though, but its there). Its true about how little everything is there, but its the old city with its typical architecture, what did you expect... Owner was a bit grumpy at first, but explained me everything...

Really enjoyed this place. Very reasonable prices here, at 120 Shekels PN for a room with 2 beds. Incorporating all you need. Has a friendly manager, and is perfectly positioned inside the old city in order for travellers to explore.

I see a lot of people complaining about the size etc of this place but it's in the old city of Jerusalem - the architecture is small. The toilets were very small but with the right manoeuvres you're good to go. I didn't use the showers as I only stayed 1 night really. I got stranded without a hostel when...

I heard people complain about this place, but for NO good reason! I went there with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are small with few windows true, BUT that's what you get for staying in this beautiful old city, I'd expect everywhere in the area to have the same downfall. On the bright side, the room was...

Spent 3 nights there with a couple of friends. After the first night we seriously contemplated looking for another hostel, the bathrooms are tiny and uncomfortable, but then it grew on us. They clean the bathroom regularly, at least they did while we were there. Our first night we didn't get clean sheets though, until we moved over to the...

I went to Israel last march and I didn't really make any hotel reservations so all my preferred hotels/hostels were already full when I got there. I looked all over the old city for cheaper place to stay and I found New Swedish Hotel. It is located right smack of the alley going in from the Jaffa gate. It is...

First, I have no clue why this hostel is called new swedish hostel. There is absolutely nothing Swedish about it. It's really well located and cheap, but I absolutely did not feel comfortable staying there. The showers are way to small, the water doesn't come with any pressure and you can't properly lock the doors. We had a two-bed room...
