Our vacation at the Dan Carmel did not start on the right foot. I made the reservation myself with my c/c; due to our schedules my husband was meant to arrive at the hotel approximately 30 minutes before me. I wrote the hotel asking whether he could be let in the room with them charging my credit card. Nobody bothered to answer. When I phoned, my request was met with a flat refusal due to "new regulations" according to which in this day and age they need to charge the physical card. When I asked to talk to somebody more senior the reaction was:"You have not arrived yet, do you want to complain already?", following which I was transfered to a line nobody bothered to answer. Upon arrival we were met by a very clean property and a lovely quiet room with a gorgeous view to Haifa Bay. Service was not consistent: on the second day we were left with one bath and one regular towel, which were added to only in the evening, and our bottles of shampoo shower gel etc were not refilled at all (there are people who go to five stars hotels to run after staff; I am not one of them). On the other hand, the food in the dining room and the executive lounge was varied, tasty, fresh and plentiful; the waiters and cooks are professional and solicitous. The same goes for the pool, clean and well kept (although nobody was quite sure about closing times). The somber palette of the hotel does not do it justice, in my opinion, but that is a matter of taste and nobody's fault. All in all it was a refreshing minivacation which I am likely to repeat.

Dear Guest, We appreciate that you took the time to review your stay at the Dan Carmel. First and foremost. please accept our apologies for the less than satisfactory response you received prior to your arrival. The particular incident was discussed at our daily management meeting, as were the discrepancies you noted during your stay. Having said that, your positive review of your stay is heartwarming. We particularly appreciate your comments about the variety and quality of the food and the attentive service. It is our aim to create memorable experiences and we are delighted that we have achieved our aim with your stay: we certainly look forward to your return visit. With best wishes The Dan Carmel Management and staff

Our room had an amazing view overlooking Haifa bay all the way to Akko. The outdoor pool was large and perfect for swimming laps as well as accommodating children. The staff were excellent, helpful, going out of their way to provide service. Shout out to Amir, Hadas, Naem, Yossi, Alissa and Rebecca. Breakfast in Israeli hotels is always good but this was truly outstanding food. Highly recommend!

Dear Dorothy, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a positive review of the Dan Carmel. Your appreciation of the setting and the pool is very gratifying, and we certainly will pass on to our staff - and in particular those that you mentioned - your glowing comments about the service. Our chefs certainly try to get the most out of the wonderful products available in Israel, and we are delighted to hear that they have succeeded. We appreciate your endorsement of the hotel and look forward to welcoming you again in the very near future. Best wishes, The Dan Carmel Management and staff

We stayed on this hotel for our 20 years anniversary and the following nis what we faced: 1- We order one large bed, and they gave us room with double beds , let say it was hard even to hug my wife on our 20-anniversary evening (try to roll over when a big hall exist between the two mattresses). 2- the phone was broken and therefore every time I wanted to order something I went to the hallway to call from the outside phone. 3- in the middle of the room and on the balcony, we found remaining of nails probably left by the previous guests) 4- the sheets on my wife's side where so dirty, that she couldn't stand lying on it. 5- We asked the hotel to fix those issues and 3 hours after we came back nothing had been fixed. 6- When we asked them to move us , they moved us to another double size bedroom , it was late so we didn't even argued. 7- Next day I spoke to the manager on the front disk and he said that they can't do nothing because I didn't ordered the room though the hotel system and I used the booking system, I explained to him that I'm not seeking money but my staying there was a bad experience and he didn't even showed any interest. 8- Overall, it was disappointed staying for a hotel that I was sending a lot of my family there for the last 2 decades including myself (I had convinced a lot of new married couples of my village to go there for their honeymoon).

Dear RedlsRising, We too are very disappointed and indeed disturbed to read your review of the Dan Carmel following your recent stay at the hotel. In response to each point: 1 and 6) Bed. The beds are standard double beds at the hotel. 2) Phone: We understand the inconvenience 3 and 4) Nails and dirty sheets. A very rare complaint - however, inexcusable. We have taken immediate steps to review our housekeeping procedures to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future. The fact that the issues were not attended to in a prompt fashion is also inexcusable, and we apologize for the delays. Finally, we apologies that the front desk manager did not give you a satisfactory response to your complaints. We appreciate the fact that you have recommended the hotel to your family and friends - you obviously have had previous positive experiences at the Dan Carmel. Hopefully, you will give us the opportunity to rectify your recent impressions on a return visit. Please contact me personally when you decide to book. Best wishes, Berthe Yogev Manager Dan Carmel Hotel

The service was really bad and the employees are not nice at all. The food is ok but not as good as I expected. Very complicated facility and very easy to lost kids. The location is ok (15 mins walk) and the parking space is very expensive.

Dear Mimaa We appreciate that you took the time to review your stay at the Dan Carmel Hotel. We too are really disappointed - if we may so even more so than you - that you found the hotel facilities and staff not up to your expectations. We understand that travelling with a family can be challenging, and try to ensure that the stay at our hotel is relaxing for everyone. We have had several managerial meetings on the points you raised and performed our own reviews to rectify and improve where necessary. We would like to point out that the parking facilities adjacent to the hotel are run by a private company and we therefore have no control over their prices. If you give us the opportunity to host you again some time in the future, we are confident that we will be able to rectify your impressions and create more positive memorable experiences. With best wishes, The Dan Carmel Hotel Management

We paid a lot of money for family wedding and didn’t receive anything to justify it. The location is not that good, and the facilities are old. The food is ok but not the best in the area. We were really unsatisfied here and we closed rooms for 4 families.

Dear Moshb104 Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent stay at the Dan Carmel Hotel. It is disturbing to receive a less than positive review. However, we appreciate constructive criticism and have had several managerial meetings on the points you raised and performed our own reviews to rectify and improve where necessary. We should point out that we periodically renovate to ensure that our hotel meets the highest standards: the facilities were renovated in recent years and we have received many compliments on the results. We would like to host you again at the Dan Carmel some time in the future, to rectify your impressions and create memorable experiences, which is always our aim. With best wishes The Dan Carmel Hotel Management
