We were stayed for 3 nights here as part of our pilgrimage tour. This hotel indeed the best hotel in Jerusalem, no competition behind the "berlin wall".
Despite the fact that the hotel is part of the Intercon chain, it was a big disappointment, under rated hospitality staff, no adequate English language capability, few staff around and very poor service.
Don't even try to submitt your laundry here. The promised 1 day service turned to be 3 nights nightmare waiting time. I can't imagine, if we didnt stay 3 nights, perhaps I should have given up my precious jean. Any complaint to the manager, has no answer, except the front office explained that he would do his best to delivere my laundry soon. What a frustrated situation.
My room was spacious and was installed wall mounted aircon since the existing ducting ac was not working. Some of the rooms has no working air con and has no additional wallmounted AC.
When our friends requested a substituted rooms, the front office refused to change and gave a silly solution to open the window and enjoy the Jerusalem's breeze. The other reason was they had ordered the spareparts but no delivery yet. However, he finally gave is several aircon rooms.
While I understand that it is not easy to operate a hotel in a conflict area, however there is no reason the service should be so screw up.
The breakfast and dinner were ok.
Sleeping quality? I heard sound of firecracker many times at night, however some of friends said that the sound of fired gun. But anyway I dont really care about that, since if we decided to stay here, we must enjoy the thrill behind the wall.
The positive point of this hotel is the buidling itself, huge and labiryn complicated stunning structure, and the spacious room. The bed and pillow was not satisfactory at all, and definitely not Intercon standard. Nevertheless, this hotel was not deserve Intercontinental brand, and what on earth is Intercontinental doing here?

The only nice thing about this hotel is the outside building itself.
The room looked more like something from a 2 star hotel. The beige carpet had stains and several cigarette burns. Did not look very clean. The bed sheets and cover were dirty with dark brown stains. We called housekeeping twice to change them but they never showed up. In the end we had to go down to the reception. And there the man behind the reception looked strangely at us telling us the room had already been cleaned. Finally they changed the sheets. A few hours later, we noticed that the nicely-folded towels were also stained.
There were ants on the bathroom floor. Warm water run out after 10 minutes.
There was no mini-bar. So if you got thirsty in the night, there was nothing. Internet was not free. And when we paid, it was extremely slow and very expensive.
Inside the hotel was very depressing and the only cafe on the ground floor did not look very nice nor comfy. There was no nice space to hang out in the hotel. And breakfast was not included.
The pool looks great, but the water is extremely cold. To the point that you can only stay in for a few minutes.
We had looked forward to this stay and the pictures online looked amazing, but It was a total disappointment on so many levels!! Not to mention the expensive price we paid for this experience.
Plus, the hotel is very far from the old city and all the sights. So rather stay in a hotel nearby there, it will be cheaper and definitely much nicer than what we experienced!

It was my first time in Jacir Palace, and I'm sure it will be the last incomplete one.
The bad experience began from the reception, who gave us two dirty and unprepared rooms, and i wonder how a 5 stars hotel cannot manage such a simple mistake like this, we called the reception twice and the answer was just that they will send somebody to do the rooms as no other alternatives available. Just to confirm, that we booked the rooms since the early morning and we arrived at 17:30 for check in, which mean no excuses for them on this dereliction. The guide left us before arriving to our rooms on saying take one level down, take your left, then your right (although it is not that easy to find your way in this hotel).
However, after more than 20 minutes without having anybody to care about our issue, we decided to leave the Hotel, and we went to the reception who just took our keys without showing any due professional care about the problem, and taking care of an American delegation arrived.
After another 15 minutes the night shift duty manager arrived (of course after receiving several phone calls from our company) asking about what’s going on, and the response was not up to the level of the issue, as he said that they will prepare the rooms for us, and if we want to have something in waiting!!!!
We were not sorry at all to leave the hotel and went back to Hebron for taking two rooms in a simple Hotel there, at least we found people who care, and respect their guests.
Just a message for the Hotel management and crew: it is not like this you deal with guests, respect and considering any guest needs and/or concerns is as much important as receiving any delegation in spite of its number. And trust me, an assessment of the performance is essential and essential communication training will be a need and a great tool that you have to provide to your crew if you want to match the volume of investment with the qualification of the people who operate such facility, at all levels, and I mean it, at all levels.
I visited more than 25 countries and tried several levels of Hotels, and sorry to say that my experience in a hotel in my home country was one of the worst that I ever met.

Since I stayed here 6 months ago the property has clearly become unkempt, as though its biding its time until closure / sale. Scruffy paintwork, messy terraces and torn bed linen don't impress although staff are good . Coffee in main lobby is excellent. Refurb badly needed. It was virtually empty when I stayed there and quiet as the grave in an eerie sort of way. Lack of free internet v poor

This is a beautiful hotel, at least it's facade. The rooms are not that special. The service though was the worst. They left me and my bags at the curb. I finally gave up and dragged everything in myself (don't mind doing it, but don't tell me to wait if you're not coming). The concierge didn't even look up when I came in. The check in process was OK. Room service was a 3-ring service. First there was no hotel guide or menu in the room. I can deal with that, so I asked for soup--it took three calls for them to get the order repeated back correctly. Then they brought the wrong dessert. But the absolute worst was the techo rock that went on from the time I arrived (2:30pm to past 11pm). I don't know how the local neighbors could sleep through the noise. Definitely not suitable if you are a business traveler which I was. I've stayed at hotels all over the world and this hotel (for it's class) had some of the worst service. I will never stay at an Intercontinental hotel again.

My first impression was.........wow what a stunning building. The welcome at the reception was kind and efficient. Our room, in the modern annex of the hotel, was good. Well sized, comfortable.
However, this five star hotel (a former property of the Intercon-chain) has some flaws.
Firstly, the hotel is far from the centre of Bethlehem, although a service or taxi are easy to get. The neighbourhood is non-descriptive.
Secondly, the the public space is not very inviting. Unfortunately the gardens are not well kept. Some trees and plants are dead. A walk in the garden is not an option as the access is limited and doors are closed. The pool is only accessible in summer. And the hotel lacks a good lobby, although there is a coffee shop.
Thirdly, its complecated to find your way. The old part is connected to two modern annexes and the breakfast rooms, but not at ground level. To go to your room from the reception you need to take the lift twice and walk two long corridors. We really made use of the map we got at the reception.
Fourthly, the breakfast is a real deception. More a dorm style than what you could expect of a (former) intercon. It was not very tasty nor healthy. Palestine has wonderful fruits, and they serve fruit cocktail from a tin. Why not support the local producers? The second day we gave breakfast a miss.
Fifthly, the hotels impersonal atmosphere, as it mainly caters for large tourist groups. In the restaurant you sit at huge round tables. Efficient when you are with a group, but hardly charming when you are with your partner or a few friends. At breakfast, when the groups are gone, you sit alone in a bunker-style ball room. The personel and their friends serve themselves at the buffet and the bus drivers come and sit at your huge round table. I pinched myself: am I in a motorway restaurant or at a signature hotel in the holy city of Bethlehem?
As an individual traveller, next time I will look for something at a smaller scale. If you are with a group, you should be allright.
