We spent 7 nights here. Wonderful experience and good value. Great location close to Topkapi Palace and not from 2 main tourist mosques. The staff were all wonderful. Helpful, friendly and nothing was too much for them. It is difficult to mention individuals as they were all great. Thoroughly recommended.
We are staying at the Barbera Hotel just now cant thank everybody enough Perfect location great service lovely breakfast staff all very helpful in advising us on tours and restaurants Many thanks to Emre Mehmet Murat
We booked a Deluxe King room, hoping to have more space, but it turned out to be still on the "small side". However, the room is modern, clean and the beds/mattresses and pillows are good. For a boutique hotel with 14 rooms, the daily breakfast buffet is sufficient and very tasty. Additionally, the hotel has an à la carte menu for a variety of made-to-order breakfast dishes, which we found to be a very nice extra touch. Furthermore, the daily breakfast runs until 11:00 hrs which is very convenient for guests like us who want to take it easy in the mornings. One particular thing we missed from the hotel staff was the availability to give specific information regarding the public transport system. For example, we were told we can buy the Istanbul card from machines. But we had to figure out ourselves that the machines don't accept any cash under 50 Liras, and that it doesn't give any change, or that multiple passengers may travel with one card. Information like this would be convenient to know in advance, specially for tourists like us who don't read or speak Turkish. We got lucky there was somebody who knew some English and was patient enough to inform us out on the street. Our booking included daily coffee/tea and cake or cookies in the afternoon. During our 4-night stay, there were no cake nor cookies offered in the afternoon, but we were always graciously accommodated when we requested for coffee/tea at the reception/restaurant area at any time of the day -- and the best part is: they serve very good coffee (from beans)! With all the experience of our stay put together, we would recommend Barbera Hotel. The owner and staff are extremely dedicated, friendly, courteous and helpful. It is also located at a lively, central, accessible and safe part of the city. We would not hesitate to stay in this charming hotel again.…
We stayed 5 nights here. Superb boutique hotel. The hotel manager and other personnels so hospitable and do a anything to help you having a good trip. Location is very good 2 minutes walk from tram and subway. Hotel located in center of old city istanbul (sultanahmet) but the rooms are quiet. Recommended
superb hospitality, every member of staff was very friendly and helpful, Murat deserves a mention for his help in finding a taxi and helping in doorlock battery change. but all the staff were superb from breakfast to booking local activities.
I chose Barbera Hotel because of its location and excellent reviews. What I didn’t expect was the wonderful hospitality and generosity or Emre, the hotel’s owner, and his staff Kürsad, Murat and Nazli who were kind, professional and always eager to help. The hotel was very clean and well managed, with delicious buffet breakfast and coffee made to order. Guests also had options to order additional items like Turkish suçuk with eggs, all included in the price of the breakfast. As a solo traveler, I really appreciated Emre’s friendliness and patience, and his recommendations for quality restaurants that weren’t tourists’ traps, Turkish bath (Hammam) and Bosphorus tour that aligned with my interests. In the end I left Istanbul feeling like I visited good friends who took care of me and made sure I had a wonderful time exploring this great historical city.…
This has been our 5th stay. By far this is one the most pleasant hotels we have ever stayed. The rooms are very clean. Everything is new and updated. Anything you will ever need the staff is right there to help. Kursad and Murat are a fantastic employees. Breakfast is fabulous. You really will be surprised each day. Everything is fresh and there is always something different to try. The location is walking distance to ALL that you might want to visit. If you need help with directions or getting around the city the staff is always there to help. I can’t stress enough how fabulous Jenna and her staff are. It’s a family giving you a tour of their city!!! And when I use the word family I truly mean that. I can’t wait to get back. This hotel keeps us coming back to Istanbul.
We knew the are we wanted to stay in, central to the mosques, the waterfront for boats and not too far from the bazar but a choice from previous years wasn't reopening after the country's coronavirus closure. A little research and we selected Barbera which was perfectly located for all the attractions we wanted and local restaurants. A small l. Not glamorous having a very small reception area and the only communal area being the dining room but perfectly fine. The room is a decent size, immaculately clean with a very comfortable bed equipped with TV we didn't try, good a/c, WiFi, fridge, tea and coffee. Breakfast was served breakfast rather than buffet and was excellent. Tea or coffee, juice, cheeses, tomatoes, cucumber lots of bread with jam and honey and with a main part which varied, a huge grilled tomato with cheese topping and herbs one day, a very light frittata or a crepe another and always a very tasty cake. Very good indeed. The staff on the front desk, Kursad we had most dealings with, are excellent and all staff, the ladies on breakfast and the gentleman with afternoon tea whose names I can’t recall, are always cheerful and ready to help with any questions and advice you might need. Or to provide the delightful free tea and coffee with cake late afternoons between 4 and 5, although this time seemed quite flexible given the friendliness of the staff…
The hotel was clean and well managed, in a great location. It’s is so close to all the historical sites and amazing food places, yet so quiet and away from hustle and bustle. You’re only 5/10 min walk from all the main places you need to visit when in Istanbul. We arrived in the early hours and they gave us our room without having to wait, and we where also upgraded to a larger room at no additional cost. The staff at the hotel have made the trip a memorable one and I will surely be returning to this place. They gave recommendation on where to eat, visit and how to best get there. Can’t thank them enough for their hospitality, we were made to feel at home. Big shout out to Kusad, Murat and Sergan (and others!).
Barbera Hotel has to be one of the best hotels that I have seen on my numerous travels. It is in a very convinient location with a picturesque terrace view and all of the main attractions almost literally around the corner; it has amazing staff, which is always willing to go above and beyond in order to make their guests’ stay as pleasant and as convenient as possible; and last but not least: breakfast. Breakfast will pleasantly surprise you everyday. If you ever plan on getting even a short glimpse of Istanbul’s magic, then Barbera Hotel will surely make that glimpse as bright and as magical as a sunrise over Bosphorus. P.S. I would like to thank Jenna and her staff for making our stay in Istanbul so pleasant. Hope to be back soon.
