Elegant Building in Historic Galata As an early example of Western style multi-story apartments in Istanbul, Bağdatlıyan Residence was built between 1895 and 1905. The residence was named after the first owner of the building, Ohannes Bağdatlıyan, who served as the director for the Bureau of Nationalities in the Ottoman Foreign Ministry. Renovated according to the historic elegancy with great care in 2014, the Bağdatlıyan Residence opened up its doors in February 2015 as an elegant boutique hotel.

Well located, a lot of atmosphere in the streets of restaurants and shops just walking one block. Bedroom with enough space to accommodate clothes, comfortable beds, there were 3 of us. Delicious breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff. I like that hotels have an ecological key system, which turns off the air conditioning and lights when you leave.

I made a reservation for one room and last minute they upgraded me to another location, so we had to walk with luggage up to the other location, a/c was not working properly and the bathroom was clogged, we ask to change our room, so they gave us a room for the next day to the previous location, then the eating system was control from another place and the heater was on, so we had to sleep with windows open. Great breakfast, great location, yes they have elevators, and the window open the street noise did not help to sleep well. Great customer service. No photos because we had two different rooms.

Impressive stay with daily cleaning! This hotel definitely deserves 5 stars. From the warm welcome to the loving care provided by Aysude K., every moment was a pleasure. Gifts on arrival and a personal packed lunch for our early flight - these attentions make the difference. The unique atmosphere and the professional, yet warm care deserve the highest praise.
The breakfast buffet is extremely extensive with a variety of options - from various egg dishes to chips, Kellogs, honey, fruit and vegetables to various spreads and drinks. The friendly team also contributes to the positive overall experience. The location is unbeatable - just 150 m from the Galata Tower and 200 m from Istiklal Street and the Tünel.
Thank you for an unforgettable 5 days - we will definitely be back!

The Meroddi is a very nice small hotel a stone's throw from the Galata Tower and Istiklal Caddesi. The staff is simply amazing, especially Ihsan and Aysude, who pampered us with little gifts and suggestions and fulfilled our every request! The Turkish (savory) breakfast is fantastic and plentiful (amazing yogurt) but there are also alternatives to the continental (sweet). The location is perfect for walking to the Galata Bridge (spectacular sunset) and the various piers where you can take the ferries that will take you everywhere, and also the old city, in 1/2 hour you can reach Sultanahmet with all the major tourist attractions. Furthermore, the Galata/Beyoglu district is very lively at all hours and has a very rich offer in terms of places to eat and spend the evening, therefore definitely promoted!!! But Meroddi is located away from the general chaos and you will sleep soundly! And to top it off, there is a small but fantastic roof terrace from which you can see the whole old city! We were very satisfied and if we were to return to Istanbul we would definitely choose the Meroddi again!

The hotel is in an excellent location - around a 2-3 minute walk to Galata Tower, lots of shops and cafes. Also around a 5 min walk to the Metro, Tunel and Karakoy tram stop (public transport is very good and cheap in Istanbul and is the best way to travel around). It’s very easy to access many of the main sights from these locations.
The accommodation itself is a boutique style hotel set within an old residential building. The front were very helpful and welcoming throughout our stay.
The rooms themselves are comfortable (although maybe a little tired) and clean. The rooms are well equipped and cleaned daily to a good standard.
Breakfast is provided and although I didn’t have this myself, I was told by other guests in my party that this was very good with plenty of choice.
I wouldn’t hesitate to visit Istanbul and book this accommodation again. A wonderful stay in an amazing city!

The staff at this hotel were exemplary and worked endlessly to ensure that İ had a comfortable stay during my time in İstanbul. Due to a plumbing issue at a sister property, the check-in staff immediately reaccommodated me to this location and surprised me with an upgrade. My new room was fantastic and the professional manner in which they handled the customer service issue ensures that İ will want to stay at Meroddi properties in the future.

The hotel is definitely in a strategic area because it is very close to the Galata tower with many bars in the evening if you want to stay in the area. Metro nearby and walking a little bit in little you are near the bridge. We being all friends / families and therefore more rooms, we were moved to the next building. Let's say only annoyance, to have breakfast we had to go out. Normal breakfast salty and sweet enough. American coffee top. Rooms in average only thing there are no places to put things , very small closet and we did not know where to put clean towels (triple room). Very kind staff made us find a gift before our departure and we were given breakfast box since we left early in the morning.

We booked a 4 night stay, then unfortunately a funeral was arranged for the final day of our holiday which I needed to travel back to the UK for. I informed Meroddi Bagdatliyan several weeks before our stay that we'd need to change our booking to 3 nights due to the funeral and we'd like the 4th night refunded. They immediately acknowledged the request and said the refund process would take 5 working days. 25 working days later and I have STILL not received the refund. They refuse to provide an explanation for why it's taking so long and I don't think I'll ever see that money again. Completely wrong to advertise rooms as refundable and then not provide a refund.

Hotel on top. Great location: close to Galata Tower, Istiklal Street, restaurants and steps from the metro, while being quiet. Breakfast varied, salty as sweet. The staff is very attentive. The bedding is crazy! Very clean hotel.

This hotel boasts an unbeatable Istanbul location, just a few meters from Galata Tower, Istiklal Street, and Sishane Metro Station. It’s the most well-connected hotel in the city (if you ask me) and a definite highlight of our trip. On a plus side they also have a nice and polite staff. I can’t wait to get back to Istanbul again.
