NEW YORK (November 18, 2014) Today, the newest property and first international franchise in Morgans Hotel Group Co.’s (NASDAQ: MHGC) portfolio of boutique hotels, 10 Karaköy, a Morgans Original® (“10 Karaköy”) opened its doors. Located in Karaköy, one of the most vibrant and burgeoning districts in the heart of Istanbul, the 71-guestroom property offers an intimate, luxury boutique experience where history meets modernity. Built in neo-classical style, the historic property has been reimagined, restored and designed in collaboration with award-winning Turkish architect Sinan Kafadar. With 10 Karaköy, Morgans Hotel Group once again showcases its substantial talent in unveiling magical and exciting hospitality experiences in the world’s greatest cities, opening its first property in Istanbul and fourth in Europe. The result is a stunning homage to Istanbul’s vibrant cultural heritage. The original building, formerly known as Büyük Balikli Han, was built in 1875 by architect Ariditi Razi and includes six floors with a glass roof over a large atrium. In collaboration with Morgans Hotel Group and Kafadar, the hotel has maintained the building’s original characteristics in keeping with its historical significance and modern approach to design. Guests arrive through the main entrance into the glass-roofed atrium with marble underfoot. The vaulted ceilings soar above a stunning water feature with bronze fish, a nod to the original name of the building.Further reflecting Ottoman architecture, the rooms on the guest floors have been lined in porticos featuring ceilings formed of the protected original old brick. The 71 distinctive guestrooms, including three spacious suites and three rooms with magnificent private terraces, span a wide variety of room categories from Standard Queen to Penthouse. Each room features custom designed furniture by Kafadar, down duvets and pillows, Malin + Goetz® bathroom amenities, Samsung® LED televisions, docking stations, 24-hour room service and complimentary Wi-Fi. "The opening of 10 Karaköy, a Morgans Original, on the heels of the successful openings of Mondrian London and Delano Las Vegas, continues our commitment to delivering template-breaking development," said Jason Kalisman, Interim CEO of Morgans Hotel Group. "Istanbul is a vibrant city and Karaköy is a neighborhood that helps define the city’s energy and excitement – and we look forward to welcoming guests to our newest home in Turkey."In addition to its guestrooms and suites, the hotel also includes an 82-seat restaurant called Rudolf. Emphasizing the seasonality of ingredients native to Turkey, Rudolf features refined Mediterranean Cornucopia Cuisine with a respect to “slow food.” The restaurant’s exquisite surroundings combine with contemporary harmony in the design, offering a beautiful space to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant features a large Turkish wine collection, in addition to a list of top international, award-winning wines from around the world. Other social spaces within the hotel include Rudolf Bar and Sky Terrace. Rudolf Bar, bringing together Morgans Hotel Group’s sophisticated and seductive ethos with the vitality and energy of Istanbul, debuts hand-crafted cocktails made with fresh ingredients and a carefully curated menu. Sky Terrace is the destination’s newest nightlife experience, offering guests panoramic views of the Bosphorus and old city; a perfect spot for couples or friends to relax and have fun. With a retractable roof and heated floors, DJ’s will play year round to local and international crowds. Accompanying the food and beverage offerings, the hotel features 785 square-feet of meeting space with its Balikli Meeting Room, providing luxury options for corporate meetings and special events for up to 60 people. The Balikli Meeting Room includes state-of-the-art A/V systems and LCD Projector capabilities for all meeting needs, in addition to extensive in-house catering and banquet options. Within 10 minutes of Istanbul’s best shopping, galleries, museums and dining options, 10 Karaköy is the premier destination for locals and international travelers.

24 hour desk clerk, (front desk person always spoke English), great security, very clean premises. All employees, English speaking or not, are very kind and eager to please. This hotel is steps to the underground city subway transportation and a short walk up the hill to the Galata tower and the 'fishing bridge' (great restaurants under this bridge). The only mistake we made was staying only 4 nights. We didn't have time to visit all the hotel had to offer (restaurant, lounge) The breakfast was very good and the waitstaff was very accommodating and eager to please but not overly so.

Stayed 6 nights at 10 Karakoy, the hotel is nicely presented, new and very clean. The location is amazing, tram stop 1 minute walk, train 5 minutes and more or less 20 minute walk to both main areas of Istanbul. Further to this Galata and Karakoy is a great district for art, music and restaurants while also feeling very safe. The service at the hotel was fantastic and the staff always greeted with a smile and were happy to offer suggestions of sites and restaurants , big thank you to Diyar and Mert from the concierge. Can't fault this hotel, great location, great service and great price.

This was my second time staying at 10 Karakoy and once again it felt like home. The hotel is located in an up-and-coming Karakoy neighborhood which is filled with bars, restaurants and galleries...Not only you can spend some quality time in the area but also you can easily walk to other major sightseeing areas like Eminonu, Taksim, Galata etc. Also you can take the tram to explore the city easily. 10 Karakoy is an understated boutique hotel that offers everything you need while enjoying Istanbul. Beside it's perfect location, what makes this hotel different and better than other hotels is the service... Everyone in the hotel team are genuine, professional, friendly and eager to make your stay comfortable, and memorable. I like to take this opportunity to thank specifically to two people who showed how much they care about their guests and work hard to make them happy. Mr. Ali from breakfast area and Mr. Mert form reception.
The hotel's decoration is tasteful and still in very good condition. The rooms are spacious and gets bigger with the type of room you book. The breakfast is very good and the service is amazing! Also there is a restaurant /bar on the top flor which serves neat cocktails.
When it comes to visiting big cities like Istanbul, booking the right hotel could be overwhelming; I can't stress enough how much I am happy and impressed with 10 Karakoy. If you like to have a peaceful and memorable time in Istanbul, look no further and stay here...

The hotel itself is very nice, and in a convenient location. It is not a 5 star hotel, however, it is probably a solid 4 star. There are some elements lacking compared to other 5 star options and the breakfast options are limited. If you do book here, make sure you request a room at the back of the hotel, as the street/tram noise at the front of the hotel is quite loud, all night.

Now to reason for the 2 star review. On check-out, we asked the front office staff to call a large taxi to take us to the airport (we had snowboard bags which would not fit in a regular taxi). They said they called the taxi but needed us to pay 750TL up-front, almost 3x what it cost from the airport to the hotel in a large taxi. Staff said they organised an airport transfer, which we rejected and asked for a metered taxi be arranged. They said they could not do this, they could only call 2 regular yellow taxis, which we also rejected. After 40 minutes of the front office staff telling us the only service they could arrange is an transfer service, we accepted as we were running late to check in. When our 'transfer service' arrived, it was a standard Mercedes Vito metered taxi. The same type of taxi they said they could not organise and then charged us 750TL for.

In the grand scheme of an expensive ski holiday, an extra charge of 450TL (EUR30) is not an issue, the dilemma here for me is an ethical one and the fact that staff within a '5 star' establishment scammed us.

I unequivocally recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Istanbul for the first time. It is an oasis in the middle of a bustling, busy Istanbul. The rooms are gorgeous. The shower is excellent. The breakfast is superb.

The T1 Tram is a 5 minute walk. That tram will take you to all the major tourist spots, and also to Galataport for great restaurants. The ferry to the Asian side is also a 5 minute walk. You can also walk across the Galata bridge and walk to Galata tower.

The staff is excellent and extremely helpful. We flew from New York, landing at 5 a.m. I had asked the hotel ahead of time to see if they could have our rooms ready since our usual strategy is to do as much as we can on the first day and then crash at night. This usually beats jet lag. Having a full day of touring after a red eye flight is obviously easier when your rooms are ready. The staff had them ready upon our arrival. We were thrilled.

My family and I stayed in a Deluxe connecting suite for 6 nights in June 2022. From the beginning, we had a VERY positive experience. We had accidentally forgotten baggage at the airport and the reception desk was very helpful in making phone calls to the airport. They were consistently and sincerely helpful through the stay when we had to make hotel reservation changes, COVID test bookings, and more. It made our crazy, eventful Instanbul experience much smoother to know we were staying at 10 Karakoy.

The location was also fabulous even though there are some bigger hotels with great views in Taksim Square. We're glad we picked this location. This hotel is right next to a Metro that takes you to Sultanahmet (Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque), Grand Bazaar and walking distance to Galata area. We were able to come back mid-day to take bathroom and nap breaks due to this location. Also this Metro is easy access to Taksim Square, and Kabatas ferry which takes you to Asia side. Lots of restaurants and cafes in walking distance too.

The rooms themselves are just big enough and quite stylish. Natural lighting can be a bit dim though due to building density but no other complaints. Bathrooms were suuuper nice and renovated! Also their housekeeping staff was very friendly and reliable.

We were very pleased to stay at 10 Karakoy and would wholeheartedly recommend to friends and family who visit Istanbul.

Stayed at 10 Karakoy for 4 nights in December. Small boutique hotel with comfortable rooms. Our booking never had breakfast included however, there a plenty restaurants in the area. The Karakoy area is very convenient to most sightseeing areas and close to the Gelata bridge.
One suggestion stay in a room in the rear of the hotel to avoid the tram noise.

The 10 Karakoy Hotel is a fantastic historic boutique hotel at the heart of one of Istanbul's old city center locations beside the Bosporus.

Stepping into the hotel is like stepping into a style or design magazine: a soaring lobby atrium many floors high, leather furniture, soft sensuous lighting, peace and quiet. Very handsome and mature atmosphere.

Rooms: Spacious enough, great style touches, very comfortable bed and linens, and impeccably clean and luxurious bathroom. Very quiet, no noise, on my room facing back of hotel.

Food: Breakfast was excellent buffet with good variety and friendly waitstaff.

Service: Friendly and professional.

I will recommend this hotel to friends and would love to visit it again!

I had the pleasure of staying at 10Karacoy on two separate occasions for 3 and 5 nights in December 2022. The hotel boasts a prime location in the heart of Istanbul, within close proximity to many popular tourist attractions such as the Misri spice market, Galata Tower, and Galata Bridge. There are also several delightful restaurants within walking distance, as well as the Karakoy tram station.
I highly recommend this hotel to tourists and anyone visiting Istanbul. The front desk staff, including Manager and colleagues Belal and Mert, as well as the hotel service staff, were all extremely friendly, helpful, and courteous. They truly made me feel at home. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, with beautifully appointed bathrooms. The room was always impeccably clean.
I must give a special mention to the breakfast staff, particularly Chef Mahmat and the entire team, who were wonderful, friendly, and kind. The breakfast buffet was nothing short of superb and more than exceeded my expectations. A big thank you to all of the staff at 10Karacoy for their warm and welcoming reception.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of April/beginning of May 2022 after being recommended it by a friend.
The hotel was in a great location - very close to the bridge as well as some lovely restaurants. The hotel staff were all really friendly and helpful (especially Mert) and they recommended us some great restaurants, booked tables at restaurants as well as taxis, a Bosphorous boat tour and a Hammam.
The food at breakfast was absolutely lovely and the hotel decor was fabulous.
Highly recommend this hotel, we would definitely go back again.
