NEW YORK (November 18, 2014) Today, the newest property and first international franchise in Morgans Hotel Group Co.’s (NASDAQ: MHGC) portfolio of boutique hotels, 10 Karaköy, a Morgans Original® (“10 Karaköy”) opened its doors. Located in Karaköy, one of the most vibrant and burgeoning districts in the heart of Istanbul, the 71-guestroom property offers an intimate, luxury boutique experience where history meets modernity. Built in neo-classical style, the historic property has been reimagined, restored and designed in collaboration with award-winning Turkish architect Sinan Kafadar. With 10 Karaköy, Morgans Hotel Group once again showcases its substantial talent in unveiling magical and exciting hospitality experiences in the world’s greatest cities, opening its first property in Istanbul and fourth in Europe. The result is a stunning homage to Istanbul’s vibrant cultural heritage. The original building, formerly known as Büyük Balikli Han, was built in 1875 by architect Ariditi Razi and includes six floors with a glass roof over a large atrium. In collaboration with Morgans Hotel Group and Kafadar, the hotel has maintained the building’s original characteristics in keeping with its historical significance and modern approach to design. Guests arrive through the main entrance into the glass-roofed atrium with marble underfoot. The vaulted ceilings soar above a stunning water feature with bronze fish, a nod to the original name of the building.Further reflecting Ottoman architecture, the rooms on the guest floors have been lined in porticos featuring ceilings formed of the protected original old brick. The 71 distinctive guestrooms, including three spacious suites and three rooms with magnificent private terraces, span a wide variety of room categories from Standard Queen to Penthouse. Each room features custom designed furniture by Kafadar, down duvets and pillows, Malin + Goetz® bathroom amenities, Samsung® LED televisions, docking stations, 24-hour room service and complimentary Wi-Fi. "The opening of 10 Karaköy, a Morgans Original, on the heels of the successful openings of Mondrian London and Delano Las Vegas, continues our commitment to delivering template-breaking development," said Jason Kalisman, Interim CEO of Morgans Hotel Group. "Istanbul is a vibrant city and Karaköy is a neighborhood that helps define the city’s energy and excitement – and we look forward to welcoming guests to our newest home in Turkey."In addition to its guestrooms and suites, the hotel also includes an 82-seat restaurant called Rudolf. Emphasizing the seasonality of ingredients native to Turkey, Rudolf features refined Mediterranean Cornucopia Cuisine with a respect to “slow food.” The restaurant’s exquisite surroundings combine with contemporary harmony in the design, offering a beautiful space to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant features a large Turkish wine collection, in addition to a list of top international, award-winning wines from around the world. Other social spaces within the hotel include Rudolf Bar and Sky Terrace. Rudolf Bar, bringing together Morgans Hotel Group’s sophisticated and seductive ethos with the vitality and energy of Istanbul, debuts hand-crafted cocktails made with fresh ingredients and a carefully curated menu. Sky Terrace is the destination’s newest nightlife experience, offering guests panoramic views of the Bosphorus and old city; a perfect spot for couples or friends to relax and have fun. With a retractable roof and heated floors, DJ’s will play year round to local and international crowds. Accompanying the food and beverage offerings, the hotel features 785 square-feet of meeting space with its Balikli Meeting Room, providing luxury options for corporate meetings and special events for up to 60 people. The Balikli Meeting Room includes state-of-the-art A/V systems and LCD Projector capabilities for all meeting needs, in addition to extensive in-house catering and banquet options. Within 10 minutes of Istanbul’s best shopping, galleries, museums and dining options, 10 Karaköy is the premier destination for locals and international travelers.

Nice hotel with excellent service. The rooms are comfortable with a large bathroom. Bed is comfortable with good air conditioning in the room. I didn't really like the location because it's a ways for the historical center of town. Breakfast was the standard Turkish breakfast with a variety of foods

Hotel's Favorite
I unequivocally recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Istanbul for the first time. It is an oasis in the middle of a bustling, busy Istanbul. The rooms are gorgeous. The shower is excellent. The breakfast is superb. The T1 Tram is a 5 minute walk. That tram will take you to all the major tourist spots, and also to Galataport for great restaurants. The ferry to the Asian side is also a 5 minute walk. You can also walk across the Galata bridge and walk to Galata tower. The staff is excellent and extremely helpful. We flew from New York, landing at 5 a.m. I had asked the hotel ahead of time to see if they could have our rooms ready since our usual strategy is to do as much as we can on the first day and then crash at night. This usually beats jet lag. Having a full day of touring after a red eye flight is obviously easier when your rooms are ready. The staff had them ready upon our arrival. We were thrilled.

Exceptional 3 night stay. Small boutique hotel with the amenities of larger hotel. Contemporary hotel in the heart of all the action around Galata Tower. 5 min walk to tram which at the Galata bridge and the fish market / restaurant lower level. Walk to spice market 10 min or talk tram 1 stop. Location and class both at the hotel. Rooms are small & contemporary no views other than alleys. Booked 2 rooms thru Amex FHR which included complimentary breakfast for 2 + US$100 dining credit @ rooftop restaurant. Large continental buffet selection for breakfast. We did utilze the roof top for 1 afternoon drinks & dinner one night for 4 and we still did not max out the $200 food credit. All the staff from check in, Concerige, bellman, room service & waiters where professional and ready to assit. Very pleasant stay, definitely will be back. Now on way to The Ritz for 5 nights.

Hotel was in a good location central to everything via walking distance and taxi. The decor inside is modern and the bed/ suite was comfortable and spacious. The upper rooftop was empty so I can’t give much of a review on that besides that it has a nice view but is surrounded by shabbier buildings. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating for any assistance we needed. I would return to this hotel.

My family and I stayed in a Deluxe connecting suite for 6 nights in June 2022. From the beginning, we had a VERY positive experience. We had accidentally forgotten baggage at the airport and the reception desk was very helpful in making phone calls to the airport. They were consistently and sincerely helpful through the stay when we had to make hotel reservation changes, COVID test bookings, and more. It made our crazy, eventful Instanbul experience much smoother to know we were staying at 10 Karakoy. The location was also fabulous even though there are some bigger hotels with great views in Taksim Square. We're glad we picked this location. This hotel is right next to a Metro that takes you to Sultanahmet (Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque), Grand Bazaar and walking distance to Galata area. We were able to come back mid-day to take bathroom and nap breaks due to this location. Also this Metro is easy access to Taksim Square, and Kabatas ferry which takes you to Asia side. Lots of restaurants and cafes in walking distance too. The rooms themselves are just big enough and quite stylish. Natural lighting can be a bit dim though due to building density but no other complaints. Bathrooms were suuuper nice and renovated! Also their housekeeping staff was very friendly and reliable. We were very pleased to stay at 10 Karakoy and would wholeheartedly recommend to friends and family who visit Istanbul.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of April/beginning of May 2022 after being recommended it by a friend. The hotel was in a great location - very close to the bridge as well as some lovely restaurants. The hotel staff were all really friendly and helpful (especially Mert) and they recommended us some great restaurants, booked tables at restaurants as well as taxis, a Bosphorous boat tour and a Hammam. The food at breakfast was absolutely lovely and the hotel decor was fabulous. Highly recommend this hotel, we would definitely go back again.

I went with friends in September of 2019 (ignore the drop down menu selection). The hotel was beautifully and stylishly decorated. My room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious and a good value. The hotel is big enough to not be too intimate, but small enough to be boutiquey. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The bartender made delicious Aperol Spritzes. My friends and I finished the long day of sightseeing by watching the sunset on the rooftop with an Aperol Spritz before dinner. The concierge was so helpful and friendly. The arranged dinner for us one night by making reservations and calling us a car. When we arrived at the restaurant, my friend left his cel phone in the car! Somehow, the doormen at the hotel knew who were were, they contacted the hotel, I guess, and the hotel contacted the driver. Wouldn't you know it? The phone was returned to us during dinner. Simply amazing coordination between the different parties. Definitely stay.

My stay at the hotel was great with very attentive front desk staff. Rooms were very clean and modern with all amenities. The hotel is within waling distance to the main sights or a tram ride away. However, I feel I must deduct a star because unfortunately when taking a taxi to the airport arranged by the hotel, the driver attempted to charge me almost 3 times the price of the meter. The hotel did offer to make a complaint, but I never got confirmation that this was done. I would expect a hotel of this quality to be using a much better taxi company for their guests than crooks and it left a bad final impression of the city.

The hotel itself is very nice, and in a convenient location. It is not a 5 star hotel, however, it is probably a solid 4 star. There are some elements lacking compared to other 5 star options and the breakfast options are limited. If you do book here, make sure you request a room at the back of the hotel, as the street/tram noise at the front of the hotel is quite loud, all night. Now to reason for the 2 star review. On check-out, we asked the front office staff to call a large taxi to take us to the airport (we had snowboard bags which would not fit in a regular taxi). They said they called the taxi but needed us to pay 750TL up-front, almost 3x what it cost from the airport to the hotel in a large taxi. Staff said they organised an airport transfer, which we rejected and asked for a metered taxi be arranged. They said they could not do this, they could only call 2 regular yellow taxis, which we also rejected. After 40 minutes of the front office staff telling us the only service they could arrange is an transfer service, we accepted as we were running late to check in. When our 'transfer service' arrived, it was a standard Mercedes Vito metered taxi. The same type of taxi they said they could not organise and then charged us 750TL for. In the grand scheme of an expensive ski holiday, an extra charge of 450TL (EUR30) is not an issue, the dilemma here for me is an ethical one and the fact that staff within a '5 star' establishment scammed us.

It’s my 5th time at Istanbul and I chose the hotel up on its excellent location It’s a city view hotel yet very clean and modern furnished , one of the workers told us it used to be a hospital before.. I booked a superior room bigger than the standard one yet when we arrived I found the room was very small the term superior was referring to a very small corner beside the door and the room was on the second floor where no sufficient light was coming in .. I returned back to change the room hopefully to a higher floor they accepted after a while and I was really happy with this i believe they upgraded us to a deluxe room because the new room was so different, more organized and bigger. Nothing negative except the tram noise as it’s just in front of the hotel door , but really it doesn t bother us at all as it’s Istanbul spirit within :) The stuff was really friendly and cheerful Specially Mert in the reception is very polite he helped us a lot I recommend to book a deluxe room in a higher floor , it is well deserved to enjoy your time at 10 karakoy ,, till we meet again
