We absolutely loved staying at Tulip Guesthouse! The room was quiet, had two beds (enough for 4 people and we were only 2), and it was cleaned every day. We had strong wifi and great air conditioning, perfect for those toasty nights. The location is perfect. Our hosts were gracious and helpful; we enjoyed chatting with them during breakfast in...

It is a family run business and they were all very helpful and accommodating. They were good with both the solo traveller and with young families. During my stay I was so impressed with how well they made me feel at home. The only reason not to go there would be if you couldn't walk up a spiral stair case....

Perfect cozy and clean family guesthouse managed by the immensely friendly Turkish family, it is brilliantly situated on the one of the tiny back lanes between two biggest mosques of Istanbul- the Blue Mosque and Haya Sophia, being nevertheless very quiet and hidden from the crowds. It's only 10 mins walk from blue tram line (Sutanahmet stop), from where you...

Staying in the heart of old city where you always pass through the crowd from all nations, is something else. This small guest house, run by family, is offering very good accommodation at reasonable price level. Rooms are small but still must be ok considering what you pay for it, breakfast is very good with amazing view at the top...

This little gem is ideally located close to Sultanamet's main attractions. Quite small and intimate so you get to know the staff and other guests from all over the world chatting in the lovely breakfast area overlooking the Bosphorus. The Turkish breakfast (included in the rate) is one of the best we encountered during our time in Turkey - simple,...

This was a nice friendly family-run guesthouse. It was comfortable, clean and we felt right at home. We ended up spending a few more nights here than expected. This allowed us to unexpectedly try a few different rooms. They are quite busy and get booked out quite easily, so plan ahead. The hotel is a little hard to find, but...

Stayed at Tulip guest house for three nights. It is a cozy little place right in the middle of sultanahmet a few hundred meters from the blue mosque, hagia sophia, topkapi palace and the basilica cistern. For the rest of the city the tram station is just a few minutes away from the hotel. The place is run by a...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
