You get more than what you pay for.To me it was a five star for being the original house from Ottoman Empire. You won't regret staying there thats for sure.

My husband & 2 friends stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms were clean with nice furnishings and a good bathroom/shower. Favorite feature was the rooftop patio. The hotel sells drinks in the lobby (beer included) and we spent the evenings watching the sunset, the Blue Mosque, and the water after days of walking the city. Breakfast in the downstairs... More

After scouring through a zillion TA reviews for Istanbul hotels, we settled on the Hotel Sultan Hill in Sultanahmet. First of all, thanks to TA's contributors for hitting the nail on the head: rooms were great, staff super helpful, to-die-for views on the rooftop terrace and the location - 100 metres from the Blue Mosque - couldn't be beat. If... More

What more could you ask for!? We found this hotel in Rick Steves' Istanbul Guidebook and received a 15% discount for showing the book at check-in. We liked our room though small it was clean and cozy with dark wood furniture and double bed with fluffy, white duvet. We stayed a total of 7 nights and found this location to... More

This hotel was recommended by Rick Steves' Istanbul, and rightly so. This remodeled hotel is squeaky clean and comfortable. We were offered a 'family room' while negotiating our rooms online. This is a perfect arrangement for nearly any age family as it consists of two adjoining rooms with a shared small foyer. The foyer has its own key so we... More

The friendliness, cleanliness, and price of this quaint newly remodeled hotel is superlative. My every need have been met from carrying up my suitcase the three flights of stairs, to sharing the receptionist's computer, to recommending how to bargain with the locals, and running up to help me fix the hot water where hot and cold were reversed. I did... More

We stayed in this friendly small hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of a visit to Turkey and 1 night at the end of our visit. It is restored to resemble the original 18th century Ottoman house that had been on the site. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Our room with 2 double beds was small but... More

After reading many of the hotel reviews on Trip Advisor I chose the Hotel Sultan Hill for my nine night stay in lovely Istanbul. This hotel was also a recommend hotel in the Rick Steves' guidebook. I was extremely happy with my selection. The Sultan Hill provided me with just want I like in hotel: a clean, comfortable hotel in... More

If you don't like to waste money on 5 star hotels than I highly recommend this hotel. What I liked most about the hotel was its location (across the street from Blue Mosque and around the corner from Hippodrome). Ideal location. Rooms were very clean (and serviced every day) and the folks who ran the place spoke English and were... More

I cannot begin to say enough nice things about the Hotel Sultan Hill. The rooms were new, clean and comfortable. And the staff was very very helpful. For starters, I arrived very late (ie 4am). But I had no issues checking in. Someone was there and ready to help me with my bags. I was thrilled when I entered my... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
