My husband and I came here for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a lovely room. It was decorated in golden colours. I had told the Hotel beforehand we were coming for our 25th wedding anniversary but did not exect them to remember it and decorate the room with petals, balloons, fruit basket etc. It was a very very pleasant...

We stayed twice in this hotel at the beginning and end of an intrepid tour. Our first room was tiny. The space on one side of the bed was no more than 15 cm. Bathroom was so tiny that you could sit on the toilet and brush your teeth (spitting in the sink) at the same time. The second room...

We stayed at the Golden Horn twice. Once in a standard room and the next time in a suite on the top level. The standard room was fine but was quite small and not a lot of space for 2 bags if you are travelling as a couple, but otherwise it was clean and quiet. The suite was huge with...

Great location, walking distance to Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque & Bosphorus. Clean rooms, very nice staff & fantastic breakfast view. We were expecting a smaller room however we stayed on the fifth floor, room was big & bathroom fine, although shower pressure wasn't great. Otherwise we enjoyed the hotel

This hotel is very central to much of what the old town in Istanbul has to offer. Easy to walk to many restaurants nearby. Breakfast on the rooftop provides a good selection. The staff are always welcoming and happy to help. Wi fi good through out the hotel. Happy hour for free tea/coffee, biscuits and Turkish Delight from 3 -...

Nothing exciting about this hotel. It's location is fine and the staff are helpful enough. The beds are hard and the rooms are tiny - the bathrooms hilariously so. Has functioning AC which is nice. The TVs play all your favourite Turkish infomercials. Has a safe but it's too small to fit anything but your absolute most valuable valuables.

Pretty decent hotel. Had no issues with any of the facilities or amenities. The hotel has the added quirkiness of the somewhat dated, yet immaculate decor looking like the set from Fawlty Towers or the hotel from The Shining.

We stayed two nights recently, and will return in about a week to stay for a last night in Istanbul. We liked the Golden Horn, which was very well located near the Gulhane Gardens, and Topkapi Palace, just a short walk from the Sultanhamet. It's an older hotel, but clean and comfortable, well appointed. We particularly liked the breakfasts in...

I stayed 6 nights and I am happy to recommend this hotel. The location is convenient for walking to all main sights, also trams, metro, trains and ferry. Some good local places to eat nearby. One tip - to walk to Sultanahmet you can go through the Gulhane Park to avoid the touts and enjoy the gorgeous gardens. Service is...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Sultanahmet, the land of dreams, where time has stopped and enjoying itself in its calmness.
