We booked a stay at TAV during a long layover and were glad we did as Istanbul Airport is overcrowded, dirty, and has a shortage of available seating. The round trip shuttle operated efficiently: exit the arrivals building, turn right, walk to the end of...More
Recently stayed at the landside of this hotel (post-immigration and customs), my fifth stay there, each for one night. It has an excellent location within the airport complex, a 5 min walk from the international arrivals terminal. There is also a free shuttle service that...More

I believe that the new airport has opened since I was there 19 October 2018. You will want to check that out and be sure to be in the right one. If it is the old one, there just isn't anywhere to sit and relax though I heard you can buy a temp pass into some of the lounges where seating would be comfortable. As to the airport hotels at the old airport, one you can access from inside and supposedly not go through PP control, etc. again; I stayed in the one outside which was just a 5-min. shuttle ride and it was deluxe. Lots of hotels have shuttles outside but if you want to stay close this is the best bet UNLESS you go out of new airport and I don't know what they have.
