self-catering budget room near Taksim Square, nicely located, one block from the main street keeps the noise of night life at the distance, friendly staff but communiaction may be a problem (e.g. we ordered breakfast for all four of us, came only one) basic yet comfy room with kitchen amenities, below-standard bathroom (smelly and very small), steep stairs (no lift) may be challenging for elderly people or small kids we didn't expect much more for such low rate, but next time we'd rather look for some place else

I stayed here 2 nights and found the place to be excellent, especially considering the cost. I booked on booking.com. based on the fact that it was in the area I needed to be. Its clean, warm with 24 hour heating and hot water, the bed is comfy, the linens and pillows clean and very good quality. The guy who runs/owns it is kind and helpful and the wifi was fast. Its right off the main road, down a quiet side street beside the Konak Hotel and only a few mins walk from the Havataş airport bus stop, and its easy to find - I arrived at 11.30pm and it was fine. There are many cheap places to eat around and its only 10 mins walk from Istiklal Caddesı and great shops etc. If I have to come back to Istanbul again - I will certainly stay here again

At the beginning I was a bit hesitated to book the apartment as there is no review and not much information with them. When I got there, the neighborhood is a bit run-down like and I was a bit worried. But once I had met the owner and entered the apartment, I feel delighted. The room is new, clean and well equipped (with a kitchenette, washing machine, microwave...) The owner is very nice, he has an office near the apartment, and we can always look for him there or call him in case of any emergency. The apartment is situated in Taksim, 8 min walk to the bus station (to airport), metro, and very close to the pedestrian street of Istiklal. There is a 24 hours grocery store, and some local restaurants nearby. After staying few nights there, I found that the neighborhood is actually quite safe, and the people are nice.
