Booked a “junior suite” on their website for 75 Euros even though on Kayak and the like the rooms were 60 thinking this is because of breakfast. Not true. Breakfast is always included, their website is just higher. I was offered a 50 dollar taxi service from the new Istanbul airport in an email from the hotel - don’t do it - the metered taxi from the airport picked from the curb was 130 liras, which is about $25. Better yet, use the airport shuttle busses for 18 liras ($3.50) from level -2 at the airport. Unlike the taxi, the busses are much nicer, airconditioned, take about the same time, and stop in front of the Blue Mosque, 5 min walk from the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel, it turned out the “junior suite” was in the basement and they removed two bags of dirty laundry as they showed me to my “suite”. I was livid - never before in my life had I been asked to stay in the basement of anything, let alone a “4 star” hotel. To make things worse, while the receptionist was struggling to copy my passport for 15 minutes at 1am, I noticed he had written down my credit card info - including the 3 digit code on the back - on a piece of paper - this is such a no-no for websites to provide in the clear credit card information to the merchants. Frustrated I left and found another hotel, canceled my credit card (got a notification the next day a notice for an attempted charge that was rejected). It may be a nice hotel otherwise and definitely is in a great location, but if you mind staying in a window-less basement room or have reasonable concerns about your credit card safety, make sure what floor your room is on ahead of time and book on some other website.

We ended up staying here due to a system error at the hotel we had originally booked, so our hotel booked for us to stay here for one night. This was our third visit to Istanbul and certainly the worst & this hotel takes a big proportion of our reasonings. When we arrived at this hotel, there was a man he seemed nice and friendly and showed us to our room. Our first impression was not great, but we thought it wasn't our taste & we didn't choose this hotel & it would only be for one night. The room was dark, was not modern, did not look clean, safe did not work, windows did not fully open. Bathroom was decent. We didn't even think there were any other guests staying at the hotel as it looked deserted compared to our original hotel and previous hotels we had booked in the past. The following morning, we were not welcomed or spoken too, there was two females there...they would just.look but they did not speak to us. We felt like we were staying somewhere, where we were not wanted. So after breakfast and arriving back at the hotel we decided to get ready, until we get a call saying our original hotel is here to pick up our luggage..all I said was give us 5 minutes please, After 5mins, the lady comes knocking and banging on our door shouting and screaming; 'hurry up' we were shocked and was like ok.... so we went downstairs...as we were not aware that our hotel would come so quick to pick up our stuff and the lady (manager) was screeching and screaming 'get out. hurry up!' showing hand gestures, demanding for us to leave. We were both taken back with what was happening my sister and I were calm and asked why are you shouting and she was recalling all her trip advisor reviews about cleanliness....but we did not say anything bad about her hotel, and we did not choose to stay in her hotel. I got a bit emotional; as she was screaming at us...no human should be treated or spoken to in that matter regardless of if we were her guests. We were shocked. She was really mean & just cared about her reviews....we did not even say anything about her hotel to her or even report anything regarding cleanliness back to our original hotel. Terrible service. Please be warned and don't stay here.

I chose to stay here because my father in law had stayed just a few days prior and recommended we stay here. I chose to cancel my reservation at another hotel and stay here. I really enjoyed my stay here. Not only are the staff kind and friendly but it is a very homely hotel. It does not feel like it's being run as a business and you feel at ease during your stay. Arzoo and Mustafa were great hosts. I asked where I could get the fig jam from and without hesitation they went out to buy us a box. It's the little things like these that made our stay enjoyable. The rooms were nice, clean and larger than expected for the price being paid. The breakfast was a traditional and tasty. For anyone who is thinking of visiting Istanbul. I highly recommend this hotel.

A feel-like-home hotel with great attractions just couple minutes away. Also they offer free upgrades of your room if better rooms are empty at that moment. We booked for economic but stayed at deluxe room. Recommended for couples, for sure we will prefer it again.

As all the other reviewers say, the staff at Divalis are exceptionally friendly and kind Our stay was overseen by Arzo and being one of her guests is like staying with jolly and generous long lost family who are delighted to see you and determined you want for nothing. It’s all very warm, relaxed and genuine - a refreshing change to the poker faces seen elsewhere There are both more luxurious and cheaper places to stay in Istanbul but Divalis embodies the best in Turkish hospitality and I will return
