Given the boggling variety of architectural and design styles that crowd the eye in Istanbul, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised to find the industrial-chic SuB Hotel in Karaköy (née Galata), the ancient commercial and cultural core of the city. And yet, let’s be honest: it is a bit of a surprise. SuB Hotel, quirky capitalization and all, looks more like a place you’d find in Greenpoint (Brooklyn) or Neukölnn (Berlin) than in the oldest part of one of history’s great crossroads of civilizations.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in this quirky hotel. Something to catch the eye everywhere you look. If you want somewhere different to stay the the suB Karakoy is the place. Absolutely perfect location for checking out the Karakoy bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Super friendly and helpful desk staff and chef who made an effort to say hello and answered any questions I had. Arriving late on the Friday night the desk porter Aroon led us to a local restaurant with top class selection of Turkish foods. Jan an Onor greeted us over breakfast and chatted to us offering advise if we needed it for local attractions. Hasan was also super helpful when booking transport to and from airport. (Forgive me staff if I misspelt your names) Oh - I didn’t even mention the wine bar with a great selection of wines or the roof top bar. I would totally recommend this hotel and definitely stay there again.

This place is fantastic. I booked 6 nights and near end of my stay. Exceptional hospitality. Location is awesome. Very good variety and taste of breakfast. The breakfast area is a wine bar at night. There is also a bar on top (6th floor). I am staying on 5th floor and never noticed any noise except for tonight due to a private party.

Even though the location and the decoration of the hotel is good, rooms are much smaller and they are not as pretty as it looks on the photos. After walking around the town for the entire morning, we went to our room in the afternoon to have a short rest. Some youth outside was flying a drone which hit our window and fell down. When we went downstairs to complain the man at the reception stated that it happened accidentally and we are overreacting. We were super uncomfortable with the situation and annoyed with the attitude of the staff.
