I don't usually write reviews but the hospitality we have received from staff has forced me to write one. This hotel is very artistic and 1 minute away from tramp which take you pretty much everywhere. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Beds are very comfortable and this hotel is located just 1 station away from Taksim Square.

This hotel is an absolute gem! Rooms are uniquely designed, stylish and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is heavenly. There is free tea and coffee all day and night. Very hospitable staff who give great tips and are there for any questions or special requests. Plus, the hotel is located in the hipster part of town Karaköy and in walking distance... More

Amazing week visiting Istanbul! chose to stay at a boutique hotel opposed to a busy 4-5 star hotel. The Sub was confidently located in a hip neighbourhood in Karakoy. The staff were extremely courteous, warm and friendly. Great breakfast, great hip atmosphere and amazing beds! If you are looking to stay In a central location this is the place to... More

Would definitely stay here again! Hip location close to many upmarket cafes, restaurants, and bars, and within walking distance to other tourist attractions or public transportation. Decor is industrial-chic, which may be a bit over the top for some, but I really liked it. Breakfast spread is wonderful and delicious. But above all else, the staff was absolutely superb. Friendly,... More

What a great little hotel! The hotel is really clean and in a great location right next to the team station. Efi who works at the reception was super nice and extremely helpful. She gave us lots of tips and was extremely hospitable and helpful. The breakfast was great where I am a vegan so they went out of their... More

Had a great stay at Sub. Staff were friendly and helpful and rooms were nice and modern with free Wifi. Highly recommended as a funky place at a good price. There are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Breakfast in the morning is good as well!

Great location in the Karakoy neighborhood. Breakfast was fantastic! so many options to choose from. the rooms are on the smaller side, but i've stayed in smaller. The faucet did fall off in the shower, but it was quickly fixed. bed was super comfortable! also, the rooftop bar was awesome!

This is an absolutely amazing and 100% value for money hotel - we fell in love with it at the first sight! Industrial type but originally and uniquelly styled with unforgetable interior. The top roof restaurant and terrace is spectacular, rooms are well furnished, great amenities and the most important-staff! At the front desk was Ali who welcomed us -... More

The most helpful staff ever. They helped me plan my day, gave me a map of the city heloing me plan the best way to get to various points. Its a compact hotel but its in the heart of karakoy, we could walk to and from galata towers and taksim square from the hotel quite easily. Wifi works best in... More

This hotel is in a great area. We walked to most of the city's main sites from here and plenty of great dinning/nightlife nearby. The street the hotel is on was a little desolate at night for pedestrian traffic with some car traffic. Breakfast was great and room was nice. Friendly staff.

Staying in Karakoy

Neighborhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Given the boggling variety of architectural and design styles that crowd the eye in Istanbul, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised to find the industrial-chic SuB Hotel in Karaköy (née Galata), the ancient commercial and cultural core of the city. And yet, let’s be honest: it is a bit of a surprise. SuB Hotel, quirky capitalization and all, looks more like a place you’d find in Greenpoint (Brooklyn) or Neukölnn (Berlin) than in the oldest part of one of history’s great crossroads of civilizations. ... more   less
