Best front desk customer service. They are always there to help you and resolve your problem and guide you. The hotel is at a good location. Cons worst housekeeping as 3 days out 7 we have received free water bottles, shampoo, and towels. Old property and on tv only Turkish channels are there.
The rooms were good and clean, especially for this low price. The staff were very friendly, always smiling and making sure our stay was very comfortable. Especially Fatih the receptionist is a hero. The I recommend this hotel to everyone
Ilkay hotel located kt Gulhane, Istanbul is such a very strategic location. It is nearby city center. Can walk from here to Eminonu or we can take tram to Eminonu and other places. Marmaray train station is just behind the hotel. We don't have to walk far to Marmaray station. So easy for us to go Istanbul Asia side from here. There are many shops nearby Ilkay. We feel safe walking here even at night. It is also nearby Topkapi Palace - walking distance. My room was upgraded to a bigger and new room. The breakfast is delicious. I will definitely come back to Ilkay hotel if I go to Istanbul again
We stayed in this hotel for a week and merrily explored this enchanting city taking advantage of excellent locational advantage of this hotel situated in Sultanahmet area Almost all famous places of tourist importance can be covered from this hotel by walking leisurely Moreover , tram is the means of mass transport in ISTANBUL and a tramline runs on the road in front of the hotel and you can move anywhere by tram which is very cheap. The road in which the hotel is located is flanked on both sides by innumerable shops which sells anything and everything you may need. Now about the hotel it has two new lifts/elevators to help out senior citizens like me which is very important since many good hotels in the locality housed in ancient Ottoman buildings do not have a lifts. It is run by four brothers all of whom speak good English, very polite, courtesan and eager to be of help to you in any way possible. They patiently and painstakingly replied to all my queries and explained everything I asked them to my satisfaction .However special mention must be made of Fatih who was the most helpful.Their manager Pelin was also very prompt and courteous in replying to all my queries made before arriving. When we arrived at night our room(we had booked a double bed room) was upgraded to a suite which was spotlessly clean with new gadgets and furnitures Fridge split AC, locker TV-- all were new. Bathroom with a bathtub was also befittinglly spotlessly complete with hairdryer and all toiletries. Ante room had two single beds and the master bedroom had a very comfortable king sized comfortable bed. A tea/coffee maker was also there and tra, coffee milk pouches wera replenished daily along with two bottles of complimentary water as tap water was not advisable for drinking Bed linens and towels were changed daily.. Complmentary buffet breakfast was very good and varied They have a restaurant attached to their hotel called Red River where you can sit on a table on the pavement and do people watching. They give some discount to the guests of their hotel if you mention it to them.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel but only wish that their WIFI connection would have been stronger It was very week in my first floor room and I had to come down to the reception to get a good signal In TV, I could not get any English channel except Al Zazira. On our last day they allowed us a late check out which was very helpful as our flight was at9 PM. .…
Highly recommended for a basic but very comfortable stay in Istanbul. Within walking distance to most attractions. Clean, comfortable rooms. Just be sure to stay away from room 601 - it is next to the elevator shaft and quite noisy. One of the better breakfasts I had after staying in about 10 other hotels across Turkey. Excellent front desk staff - Seker, Ugurdinho and Yunus are very welcoming and helpful!
