The Hotel is very close to some of the main sights of Istanbul and very good Restaurants. Our room had no daylight, but was clean and big enough. The breakfast was good and the buffet had different goods to choose from.

This is a great little hotel right in the middle of everything in the old Istanbul. All major sites are within walking distance. The maximum we had to walk from this hotel was 15 minutes so you can imagine how good the location is. We had a connected family room which was nice and clean. The only minor gripe we... More

If you want a place to stay in a good location, with all your basic needs...Ilkay Hotel is the best choice. Location: Ilkay is located in the heart of all activities. You can walk to the touristic area of Sultahnamet and the Bosphorous in Eminonu. Its near the tram station and this is a plus to us because you can... More

Let's start with the good points. The reception staff were friendly and the showers were great,it is well located....and well that's all really. My room reaked of nicotine, it faced onto a narrow busy street with constant tram traffic which meant I couldn't open the window and the alternative..the air conditioning... had the decibel count of a Jumbo jet! Consequently... More

Front desk stuff were supper friendly and polite. They do their best to make your stay enjoyable. Rooms are OK the but they do miss refrigerator which I think it's the norm in low budget hotels. The hotel locations is perfect as its in downtown and a walking distance to many great touristic places. The only concern was the restaurant... More

The Ilkay is a great choice if you want to visit the various landmarks scattered in the old part of Istanbul. Its very close (150m) to Topkapi Palace and from there the Ayasofia and Blue Mosque are a stone throw away. There are even a few decent options to eat nearby if you don't want to stray to far at... Stayed here with my husband, my parents and my in-laws. It is convenient to walk to Topkapi, the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, etc. Tram goes in front of hotel and makes transport throughout Istanbul simple. Lovely breakfast and hotel restaurant makes it easy to hang out and have a drink while watching the world go by.

This hotel was fine for us as we were on a budget. On our first night we were in one of the older rooms that had old bathrooms, no head boards and an ancient TV. The next two nights we were moved to a remodeled room which had a newer renovated bathroom, although mold was evident on the ceiling. The... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
