This hotel located in Sultanahmet area which is you can visit Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, and Topkapi Palace with only short walking distance. The room itself was quite nice and the staf was informative (specially when you booked tour from them) but it was more expensive than what I found outside. The breakfast took place not in this hotel but... More

We booked 3 nights in a deluxe room at hippodrome hotel, and paid everything during booking. However when we got there the staff brought us to the hippodrome apart, and the rooms weren't the ones we booked. We asked to change our rooms at the main hotel and not the apartment, but apparently they were fully booked and could only... More

We visited this Hotel in the summer of 2013 and it was a smaller hotel but nice and clean. They served breakfast in the hotel across the street's Terrace from where you could see the Great Blue Mosque! Breakfast was ok. Our room also had another room for our children with 2 twin beds and 1 queen size bed in... More

the first time I went to this hotel I fell in love with it. The second, third, fourth and fifth time to Istanbul I stayed hippodrome apt. Every time we went there , Arzu , the manager , greeted us with open arms. Everybody treated us like family . Rooms are good size and clean and the bathroom is tidy thanks to... More

My wife and I spent 6 nights in Istanbul. staying at the Hippodrome. on bed and breakfast basis. The hotel accommodation we stayed in is an annex of hotel over the street where we had breakfast on the third floor terrace with views of the sea of Marmaris. Our room was good with en suite but the bonus was that... More

Positives: Good breakfast, great location, great staff, good size room and bathroom. Negatives: too noisy at night/ early morning. Wooden floors so you hear ppl moving around. Cleaning staff start vacuming at 9am. Can also hear ppl in next rooms as walls are board partitions. Was cold but extra bedding could not be provided for at night- bedding only avail... More

We were in the small hotel they have across and up the road a little. We got a really nice corner room looking down across the crossroads. Everything was very nice - the location was great, the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast (down the hill and on the roof of another building) was also good. If you don't... More

I stayed here with a friend for one night so we could visit Sultanahmet sights. While the check in desk is in one building, the Hotel has numerous buildings on the street. We stayed about a block from the check in desk building. It was a nice, clean, good size room with excellent AC. Yes, the lobby had someone smoking... More

We stayed at the Hippodrome Hotel the end of June. We were heading home from our trip to Greece. The staff that greeted us was friendly and helpful. When we got to the room it had a mildew smell and just didn't look clean. There was black mold/mildew in the grout and caulking in the bathroom. The A/C had a... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
