Hotel Sebnem was comfortable and close walking distance to many major attractions in Istanbul (Aja Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Cisterns, etc). The young man at the desk was most pleasant and helpful. He graciously offered to teach me a few Turkish words and review each morning! His English was excellent! The hotel has a rooftop breakfast and lounge area... More

Really.. Hotel Sebnem cannot be in a more ideal position. In the heart of Sultanahmet with the best vibrant street around the corner where everything happens..shops, carpets, friendly owners, restaurants with best local dishes at the best prices. Still in a quite corner to rest and sleep well. Tastefully renovated with a modern touch to the old city atmosphere. Clean,... More

Had a very nice stay at Hotel Sebnem in Sultanhamet. It's perfectly located for exploring the sites in the old town, just two blocks from Hagia Sophia and the entrance to Topkapi Palace. It's an easy walk to the Sultanhamet Tram station, so the rest of the city is easily accessible. I stayed in the standard double room, which wasn't... More

As a solo traveller, I have stayed at Hotel Sebnem on each of my 4 trips to Istanbul and would gladly stay there if I return to my favourite city. Each day starts with a delicious array of home-made cakes and pastries, yoghurt and fresh fruit, tea, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. If there wasn't so much to do... More

This was our second stay at the Sebnem and we won't even look to stay anywhere else next time we come to Istanbul. It's such a perfect hotel and the location is brilliant - just minutes walk away from the Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Arasta Bazaar. The breakfast on the terrace each morning is one of the... More

I joined 2 friends who were visiting Istanbul and the hotel put a zed bed in their room for me which saved us money. The room was not large but the hotel has a spacious terrace on the top floor so we could sit there if we needed room to relax. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They printed... More

We, and my family before, have staid here several times. To be confirmed: small but very clean room, excellent location, friendly staff, only the super super view on the bosporus is smaller due to new small house before (but still super). We do recommend this small hotel to all our friends being first time in this great town Istanbul, staying... More

We had a great stay at Sebnem. It is within walking distance from all the major sites. The staff are really friendly and arranged all our transfers etc. Although the rooms are a bit small it is very clean, after all you only sleep there. Will Def recommend to all!

The hotel was perfectly situated in Sultanahmet and was less than or equal to a 10 minute walk to most of the major sites in Istanbul including the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi and the Cistern. It is just off a main street with many restaurants and stores and is blocks from a small market called Arasta Bazaar.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
