My mother and I visited this lovely hotel in March 2016. The location is ideal for those wanting to be near the Ottoman attractions of SultanAhmet. A quick 10 min walk away from Topkapi palace, Hagia Sofia and the blue mosque. We stayed in the Maison Zoe triple suite which was comfortable and cosy. The breakfast was divine, an array...

So unique, pretty, colorful, staff very helpful. Most lovely courtyard for eating and relaxing!! We spent every evening on rooftop viewing the beautiful Bosporus. Got wine down stairs and climbed to roof. I'll never forget this place - a fairy tale.

The hotel itself is gorgeous, each room is unique. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We had an amazing time. They went out of their way to help us out when we had some health problems. You have the breakfast in the hotel's beautiful garden, the food is delicious with vegetarian and vegan options. They have a couple of...

We loved our stay at the Empress Zoe. The location is terrific, the staff exceptionally hospitable and friendly. Breakfast buffet was a visual delight and a real feast. We looked forward to eating each morning in the garden next to the ruins of the old Turkish bath. The rooms and decor are as charming as the website photos show. Our...

This got to be one of my best hotel experiences ever! This was truly a unique place. Our room was really charming. The hotel had a really nice garden and terrace, the staff was very nice and friendly, and the hotel cats just made it all the more homely and wonderful. Would go back any day.

Entering the Empress Zoe is such a pleasure- incredibly stylish, welcoming and with a sense of the history of the Sultanahmet area. I felt very much at home with friendly Leila being really helpful. Speedy wifi, delicious breakfast and a very beautiful garden that I loved relaxing in after sight seeing all day. 10/10 and I felt very safe in...

We couldn't have picked a better spot for a few days in Istanbul. We were upgraded prior to arrival due to a cancellation, a much appreciated and generous touch! The garden is beautiful and cool and the views from the balconies are exceptional. The location is perfect and all the places we wanted to visit (Istanbul highlights) were in easy...

What a special place the Empress Zoe is. Should have written this review months ago. A complete jem in a popular, busy and very touristy part of Istanbul in the Old City. So firstly the hotel is in a terrific position to visit the majority of the major historical attractions. Next to the Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, the Hagia...

I saw a write-up of this establishment in a travel article a few years ago and we finally stayed there for seven nights in October. It was all I had hoped for - unique, interesting, charming, right in the heart of the historic city, comfortable and flawlessly clean, beautiful garden (where we ate the wonderful breakfast every day), exceptionally friendly...

This is one of my favorite hotels in the world. I stayed for five nights. The location is ideal--near many of the major sights and close to public transportation. It is surrounded by shops and restaurants, although it is quiet at night. The people there were so friendly and welcoming, I felt that I had been there before. My room...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
