The hotel attracts by the charming and eclectic interiors full of confectioners items like old cameras, clocks, ... and above all lampionnes. Our room had 60 lampionnes !! Rooms are very small but nice decorated. Curtains could use some washing. Marble and clean bathroom. Finishing is not as in a 5 star hotel, therefore not the 5 stars rating, but... More

We stayed at Kybele Hotel for a week a and could not think of a better place to discover Istanbul. The famous sights are minutes away (walking distance), the tram as well which takes you to the Bosporus ferries in 10 minutes for example. We (being on a girls' trip) always felt save in that area even in the middle... More

We went to this quirky hotel for a pre-dinner drink and loved the authentic decor and the colourful traditonal lamps which decorate the lounge. We spent some time over drinks looking through an equisite book of sketches of people and places in Istanbul a gift from a previous resident. Don't miss it. We were so captivated by the Kybele that... More

I have known and loved this hotel for about twenty years. So have many of my friends. The only difficulty is that being so popular but also quite small, it can be difficult to get a reservation. It is frequented by travellers of taste, journalists, diplomats and soldiers when paying for themselves, and the like. The staff know all the... More

The location of Hotel Kybele is perfect - one block from Haya Sophia. The public areas of the hotel are very attractive and authentic - nothing plastic or hotel-chain-like anywhere. The breakfast was excellent. Our room was large and comfortable and spotlessly clean, with two balconies and a (partially obsured) view of Haya Sofia and Topkapi Palace. So why the... More

We did not stay in this hotel, but did eat in the restaurant. This is one of the few eating places in Istanbul where you get "what is said on the tin" and you are not billed for "extras" which you did not ask for. The food was of a very high quality and very reasonably priced. The wine was... More

This hotel really has the local spirit! Its interior looks like a mix of old Turkish style with old Turkish-European...whatever it means. The location is the best you can get in Istanbul - 100 metres from the very middle of the Old Centre. Nice touristic area around with good restaurants and main historical attractions. The staff is very friendly and... More

We have spent one night at this hotel, ideally located close to the Blue Mosk, the Grand Baazar, etc. Very different, nicely decorated, very original. And most of it, the staff is just amazing. Go and see "Mike", the owner of the hotel and he will receive you in his room, which looks like the back of a carpet store,... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
