Hotel was in a great location and the main tourist attractions were all walking distance. We walked everywhere on our trip and didn’t need to use public transport. The staff were very helpful at the desk with any information needed. The rooftop bar has nice views of the city. Rooms were clean and cleaned daily if you wanted. Would recommend as a base for sightseeing in Istanbul
Sunlight is a nice hotel very close to the Topkapi palace, the Hagia Sophia , the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazar. You can walk to this places. The tram is 200 m. from the hotel and bring you to other places. The ferry over the Bosporus is really nice. The hotelroom is very clean, nice bed and good bathroom. The people that works on the reception were very friendly. If you ask a room on the 5th floor, you can see the sea. We recommend this hotel.
****PLEASE AVOID THIS HOTEL**** Terrible customer service from manager. I had a delayed flight resulting in checking into hotel a day late. When I requested a refund not only was I refused refund but I was also declined stay in the hotel for the remaining booked period. The reason for this was in fact the hotel had a double booking so instead he tried to overcharge on rates. Absolutely disgusting attitude with no heart for customers. Unfortunately I am still pursuing a refund through booking.com
The staff were very welcoming from the beginning to end of our trip and it made the whole experience so much better. The hotel has a restaurant/bar downstairs with great food, atmosphere and really good prices. The breakfast was nice with a lot of variety. And the housekeeping was really good! The first room we got had a double bed but the staff were very helpful the next day and changed our room to a bigger one with two beds. The only thing I would not like to experience there again or that could maybe be made better is the spa. The massage did not feel professional at all, they did not speak English at the spa so I was taken straight to the Turkish bath even though I should have gotten to sauna before. Inside the sauna, they were drying clothes and towels so it was all full of stuff which is unhygienic, and while I was there, the staff kept opening the door and chatting with me. Which is okay, but there was no hot air in the sauna.…
The location of the hotel is more than great. You are close to pretty much all the historic sights and the tram. (There are two way tickets for 13TL instead of 1 way for 8TL)😊 The staff was very helpful and kind. Rooms were cleaned everyday and we had a nice view of the Bosphorus. The only thing that I didn’t like was the breakfast. I have been to Istanbul more than 10 times and I love Turkish food. Usually they have great variety and delicious dishes. Unfortunately that didn’t meet up my expectations. But there are plenty of places around where you can get local food on very good prices.
Great location, being close to major attractions as well as tram. Staff are extremely helpful and always willing to assist. Our room was modern with a slight view of the sea (3rd floor) and had everything that we needed. The restaurant on the top floor has amazing views, making breakfast in the mornings super exciting! The hotel bar located close to reception was great after a long day, and bar staff were always friendly and professional. Overall we had a great experience and i’d recommend Sunlight Hotel for your next visit to Istanbul.
The accommodation was amazing. Despite Corona and the few guests 7 people, the hotel staff went out of their way to offer the best. The breakfast buffet was really delicious. Sauna / SPA was a great place to come down. We would love to come back. Place to be!
Flew out on the 14th March after a very bumpy start, Turkey cancelled all flights from Germany and my flight was going via Frankfurt. However lufthansa booked me on a Turkish airlines flight direct and away I went. Hadnt originally booked this hotel, but when we got to the hotel that was booked it was shall we say not as described!!! Had booked and paid for a junior suite room with balcony at said hotel and got out in a tiny room that smelt of cat pee and had a tiny window but definitely no balcony. So we left and with our bags went round the corner. Well what a bonus, lovely hotel and the guy on reception could not of been more helpful. Hotel was beautiful and comfortable. Then come to the last day, all flights to and from turkey from the uk cancelled and 1:40 in the morning I'm trying to pack up and leave to get the only flight they were putting on. Hotel were brilliant again and I am home in one piece. Very scary for my first time away alone but made much easier by their help and understanding. …
I stayed at Sunlight hotel for four nights with my husband and 4 year old daughter. Location of the hotel is fantastic, blue mosque, Hagia sofia, topkapi palace, grandbazar everything is in walking distance. Also loads of restaurants nearby. Our room was clean and good sized. Hotel staff was very helpful and tried to accommodate all our requests. Great view from the restaurant at breakfast time. Can't really fault this hotel .
When we arrived we were greeted by a polite man. We used an airport transfer service offered by the hotel so we asked for a receipt since it was a business trip we were told we would be given the receipt upon departure and we booked a taxi for 7 am to take us to the airport the following morning. We showed the receptionist the ticket so we would be sure we would leave at the right time to the right airport. Then we went up to the room that had an absolutely disgusting smell. I am asthmatic the smell triggered 3 asthma attacks for me that night. The bed was extremely uncomfortable we did not have decent sheets. We went out for dinner on the way back we tried to use the elevator apparently u can only use it when going down with suitcases not up as the door refused to open. Before going up we asked if we can have breakfast before leaving in the morning and the receptionist said yes he will have a packed breakfast ready for us. We woke up and were downstairs 15 min before taxi booked. The hotel refused to give us receipts for the 100 euro airport transfer and had to leave with no receipt. We asked for the packed breakfast they said they will only give us tea - since we both dont drink tea we left with no breakfast but before we left We confirmed with the receptionist that the taxi was taking us to IST airport as the driver did not speak english they said yes and we got on the taxi and we were taken to the wrong airport GAW airport thereby missing our flight. Luckily the driver was nice enough to drive us to the other airport and we had to pay for another flight! Whatever u do do not use this hotel! …
