I have never seen a better staff than in this hotel. They are friendly, effective and efficient. The location of the hotel was perfect. Everything we needed was next to it. From supermarkets to metro stations. I realized that cleanliness is the hotel's priority, therefore my stay was incredible.
We had a wonderful experience at Occidental Taksim. Every staff member I encountered, from the check-in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! We booked 2 rooms (210 and 710) for 5 nights and both were super clean and very comfortable. The hotel is ideally located within easy reach to Taksim Square, Istiklal Street, many restaurants and cafes, and both M2 metro and Kabataş funicular lines. I extremely recommend Occidental Taksim. :)
I stayed at the Occidental Taksim from 5 October through 8 October and it was a very pleasant stay. I had previously used this property years ago when it was Larespark, and it has aged well. Barcelo is taking care of it and the physical plant as well as the service provided is, in general, quite good. The complaint I have is that the Bellhops are participating in a scam with local taxi drivers. When I wanted to return to the IST airport at the conclusion of my stay, I asked the staff to call a yellow taxi for me which they agreed to do. In about five to ten minutes, a cab did appear and we went down to place our bags in the taxi; there were two Bellhops at that time assisting us. Unfortunately, I do not know their names. I saw the cab driver give one of the Bellhops a Turkish Lira banknote but I could not see what denomination it was. We entered the cab and the other Bellhop (the one who did not receive cash from the cab driver) came to the window to inform us that there was a lot of traffic on Friday and the fare might be a little more than the 160 TL we paid to come from the airport-he thought around 200 TL. As soon as the cab pulled away, the driver again spoke about heavy traffic and said he could only do the trip for a fixed price of 260 TL. We should have gotten out immediately, but the clock was running and we had to catch an international flight. I finally agreed to pay him 230 TL and we continued our trip. The traffic was actually quite light and we got there in about 30 minutes. I gave him the 230 TL without a tip, but the apparent complicity of the hotel staff in this episode is disturbing. Cab drivers worldwide are notoriously corrupt, but major hotels are expected to attempt to protect their customers from such behavior. The fact that the cab gave money to the Bellhop does not prove his involvement in the scam, but I cannot think of another reason that a cab driver would pay a hotel employee. The amount of money is trivial. I paid the inbound cab 180 TL (160 + 20 TL tip) so the extra 50 TL is only about USD 5. I realize that this kind of business behavior is common in Turkey, but if this property wants to attract customers from Western Europe, the U.S., and Canada, such shady behavior should be extinguished. The most thing that distinguishes this hotel is the staff kind treatment specially the reception and namely mr Fettah Acar who is always smiling and facilitating our stay Needles to say how clean is Occidental hotel in Taksim, the location is very good and near every thing the visitor needs, very close to Taksim square Some noise from the surrounding restraints but this is Taksim In general it is wonderful hotel
The hotel location is very good and the hotel itself is good looking and clean. When i stayed there i got great professional help from the reception by Yusuf and due to his help my stay was complete. The hotel is located in the noisy crowded area of Taksim so everything you need is right next to the hotel. However, better to go out to different areas in the city to have fun.
