Armada hotel is located at the probably best position in Istanbul. The history peninsula is exactly the place one wants to stay at. Not central while central is probably a good definition of the location. 5 minutes from Hagia Sofia, from the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace , Armada Hotel is a place to remember. Beautiful rooms and general...

Situated just inside the Byzantine sea wall, the Armada is nicely placed for sightseeing in Istanbul. The rooms are comfortable and modern with pleasant Turkish touches, so you know you are in Turkey. Excellent staff at reception. The rooftop restaurant and terrace give a magnificent panorama of the Blue mosque and historic sights as well as of fishing boats and...

This is a good quality, 4 star hotel in a really good location for getting quickly and easily to the main sights. Its is just a couple of streets down from a 'boutique' area with lots of restaurants - we managed to find a couple of neighborhood, non touristy places which were excellent value and a bit different. The breakfast...

The Aramada is located close to major historic sites, like Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. While the walk is uphill, that's fine because it's downhill after you've toured major sites. The hotel is graciously but not ostentaciously decorated with a club feeling. The rooms are not large but are tastefully appointed and comfortable. I visited wwith a small tour...

Our recent trip to Istanbul included a week's stay at the Armada Hotel. We have traveled a great deal, all over the world, and the Armada was the best reasonably priced hotel we have found in any country. The facilities were clean and comfortable and the location was perfect for our vacation touring. But, the best part was the hotel...

Hotel is great! Maybe it's a little too expensive, I think 80-100 euro is the correct price for it. Location is great corresponding to the seaside but with one not too pleasant piece of a shortcut to Sultanahmet area - you need to go under the train railway and some delapodated court yards with no people around but it is...

A clean and quiet 4 storey hotel close to the seashore and only 15 minutes by foot from the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya and Topkapi palace. Room of good size, bed(s) comfortable, bathroom well- maintained, extensive buffet breakfast in rooftop/terrace restaurant.

This was a return trip. We stayed at the Armada in 2007 and in 2009 we were delighted to find everything just as we remembered. Hotel decoration is charming and carefully conceived. The rooms are large, with ample storage and the wainscoting and cupboards are hand painted in the Edirne style. Bedding is crisp and white, with down comforters or...

Along with a group of musicians in Istanbul for the Bach festival, we were checked into the Armada and found it to be an excellent base. It is ideally located - only 10 minutes to the bulk of the sights in Sultanahmet and the tram to the other tourist spots. We had a set menu dinner every night and it...

This hotel was a great location near The Blue Mospue and Hagia Sophia. It is also within walking distance to a train station and Tram to get to other places around Istanbul. We loved the recommendations for restaurants around the hotel. Each of the them were great! The staff was aldo very good at scheduling tours and shows for us....

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
