We've returned from a 6 night stay at the Dersaadet. Our first night was in the Seaview double, very small, but with a lovely view. We moved to the Corner Suite for the rest of our stay. That was a large room with plenty of windows and a city view. The rooms were immaculate, and well kept. Bedding was very...

Well located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood near the Blue Mosque (10 minute walk). Staff are what made the stay. Always very friendly and helpful, and ready to meet your needs. Rooms were comfortable and adequate, but nothing special. The lobby was comfortable. Breakfast was on the rooftop with a wonderful view; and a nice place for a drink...

This is the second time my Mum and I have stayed, and we will be back. As ever the staff were top class, and couldn't do enough for us - special thanks go again to Umit ! The hotel itself is well situated, a few minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, and everything else is a short walking distance, whether...

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The staff is exceptional. My husband learned some Turkish before our trip and the staff was very helpful; giving him suggestions to help his Turkish. We were always offered apple tea in the evening (at no charge) and there is a computer for guest use. The staff also offered hints and places...

We (2 adults and 3 teenagers spent a total of 6 nights in March in Istanbul -- 3 at the Empress Zoe (based on recommendation of travel agent) and 3 at Hotel Dersaadet (based on TripAdvisor reviews). I am completely baffled by the glowing reviews of other travelers. While we loved Istanbul, we found the Dersaadet lacking. (For the same...

We spent six nights at this hotel - we are four lively senior citizens - and loved every minute of it -- from the easy walk to restaurants, the Arasta Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, and to the tram. The staff went out of their way to detail directions, make dinner reservations, and suggest sights. There is a little...

I had 1.5 weeks between old and new jobs so decided to go to Turkey with my mom - girls-only trip! Staying at the Dersaadet while in Turkey was one of the best decisions I made. Here's why: 1. The hotel is super charming with an old-world feel to it but also maintaining all the conveniences. Example: the elevator's interior...

My son and I traveled to Istanbul for his 16th birthday and chose Dersaadet after a lot of thought. We loved it there -- our week in Istanbul (and at Dersaadet) passed way too fast and we were sorry to say goodbye. Best thing -- the fantastic staff, especially Umit the manager and Umit who keeps the upstairs terrace running...

I stayed in the street-level double (can also be a triple), and I thought it was great. Prior to arriving, I was worried that the room would be noisier or less safe than a room above ground level, but the room was surprisingly quiet and secure. The location was great. I would suggest taking the free shuttle from the airport...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
