We stayed at the hotel on 27-31 August Location The hotel is well situated near the “city” centre; Haggia Sophia and the tram station. This is extremely convenient for shopping or dining nearby. You don’t have to rely on transport since everything is within walking distance. Score 4/5 Room The hotel has many rooms and level. Fortunately, it is equipped with lift. Yet the main entrance door has a stair – which you have to lift your (heavy) luggage. The room itself seems quite spacious (compared to European hotels) but the view is very disappointing since the room overlooks a dark wall and someone else window You get complimentary bottle of water and a room safe. The bathroom also is ok but the shower area is found in the bath-tube itself. The bed is quite comfy and you get a nice table in case you need work on your laptop. Wifi is quite good as well and is free. Cleaning was in general quite good. Score 3/5 Service quality The reception was nice and everybody was courteous. They also explained quite clearly to us all the hotel and the nearby surrounding. They also can recommend taxi, or any excursion you want. Score 4/5 Food The restaurant is found on the last-floor and the view is simply breath-taking in the morning. You get a full-view of Haggia Sophia and Istanbul. You have a decent variety of fruits and breakfast as well. The table and seating are quite spacious – you can also dine outdoor with the splendid view. Score 5/5 Overall The hotel is quite nice, affordable and is found in the middle of the city-centre. Will recommend for a quick exploration of Istanbul. 3/5

Don’t trust the pictures! We paid for the « deluxe room », so we were supposed to enjoy a terrasse and a stunning view. The reality is that there is no view, the only thing you can see is the roof of other building, and a very small part of the blue mosquee. All the pictures have been retouched. The terrasse was extremely dirty, papers and the flood, bird dejections on the table... The room was small, the locker did not work, the bathroom was dirty as well. During the check out, the manager insisted to call a taxi for us, even if we wanted to catch one in the street. It turns out that the taxi driver was his friend and cheated on us : he did not want to put the taxi meter and finally took the longest way to go to the airport. Plus, when we arrived they asked us to pay again, even if we have had already paid on internet. So don’t go there, they are really not trustable.

Response from HotelNena, Genel Müdür at Nena Hotel
Responded Nov 22, 2019
We thank the reviewer very much for sharing her opinions and giving us a feedback regarding her accommodation in our hotel. We value all reviews in order to develop our services and quality standards. Well, in reference to above TripAdvisor review, our responses below: 1- I hereby accept that we have to put the actual photos on the web. Our hotel is under renovation now and after renovation we will published the new photos. 2- Our deluxe rooms have balcony. After room cleaning some of the papers and the leaves could flown by the wind from the next roofs. The guest checked in at 07:20 pm and unfortunately there are a lot of seagulls in Istanbul. Sometimes could be bird dejections on the table. The guest warned us and we cleaned the balcony immediately. Our bathrooms cleaned every day as well however I hereby accept that bathrooms need renovation also. In June 2020 renovated Hotel Nena will be on your service. Our customer's complete satisfaction is the main aim of the Hotel Nena. In order to fulfill this goal, we guarantee immediate action if our dear guests have any complaint or problem before leaving our hotel. We offered some treatments to them with pleasure. 3- Unfortunately street taxis are not reliable in Istanbul. We have experienced that hundreds of our guests have been chatting by the taxi drivers. For that reason we always recommend to our valuable guests a taxi station where is situated in Sultanahmet. That taxi station audited frequently. The taxi driver is not my friend. I wish I did not call the taxi station to assist the guest. My aim was to protect them... 4- Hotel Nena opened in 2000. In 19 years we have never overcharge or recharge. If any mistake or carelessness we always make correction immediately. We again thank the reviewer very much for sharing his ideas with us and with the rest of the globe. We never ignore feedbacks and indeed still discussing the points he raised. We are totally aware that, it is not easy to make everyone happy but we will keep moving to improve our services and quality standards aiming to make everyone happy. Thanks a lot ! Muzaffer Sahin General Manager

We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights at Nena hotel. I give 4-stars rating mainly for the central location, great view of Blue Mosque from restaurant and the helpful staff. The receptionist gave us access to restaurant during sunset blue hour, which is much appreciated. Its an old building with small (but clean) room. When we stay (Oct-2019), they have renovation on going at the next building so it's a bit noisy during the day.

We booked one of the more expensive room options with view. View from balcony is impeded by adjacent building & this was disappointing. View from breakfast room is amazing! Very noisy as thin walls & noise seems to carry easily. Room a little tired looking & could do with a refurb. Some mould issues in the bathroom. Minimal sockets to charge cameras/ phones etc. Staff were helpful. Great location to Blue Mosque & Hagia Sophia.

I loved Hotel Nena. The staff was amazing, the deluxe room had the most INCREDIBLE view imaginable - it was hard to leave my balcony! The room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Location was great, especially for a newcomer to Istanbul wanting to see all of the historic sites. You are walking distance to everything you could want to see in the Sultanahmet area. I will return on my next trip to Istanbul for sure!!!
