I got to revisit Istanbul last week and stayed at the Side Hotel and Pension again. It is like a home away from home. Comfortable rooms, a nice breakfast each morning on the roof top terrace that gives you a wonderful view of that part of the city and Marmara Sea, and the friendly staff make it a pleasure to...

I come to Istanbul almost annually. I have stayed in Side Hotel/ Pansiyon almost every time. I love the homey feel as this is a family run business and each room is unique. This trip impressed me especially because so very few people are in Istanbul currently. They don't have full rooms, but have not skimped on service. The breakfast...

The Side Hotel and Pension is an inexpensive place to stay in Istanbul and located in the mist of the keys sights everyone wants to see. You can get a clean, safe room for 50 Euros a night, and that includes breakfast. You are in easy walking distance of Tokopi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar, Hippadome,...

The brothers and staff who run this hotel are ever-attentive to guests every wish! I stayed for 4 nights and could not ask for better hospitality.....it's what comes of a family run establishment. Located between the Blue Mosque and Aya Sophia in the heart of Sultanahmet district. Great for budget-minded visitors with a personal touch.

We stayed in September in Istanbul and booked directly on their website a double room for 90 Euro per night incl. breakfast. We knew the place from earlier trips and expected something similar. But the staff has completely changed, is not particularly friendly and the rates are too high. Breakfast is just OK. Especially the tour operator on the ground...

We stayed at the Side Hotel both at the beginning of our trip in Turkey and at the end of the trip. It is located on a side street a block from the Hagia Sophia. The room was a nice size..it had a double and a single bed in it. The room (#214) was situated toward the back of the...

This is a nice small hotel located in a quiet area and within one minute walk to the historical Hagia Sophia Byzantine Church and the Blue Mosque. Clean rooms. English speaking & friendly staff. Good views from the terrace of the building. Average breakfast. Also within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and the tram line. Great value.

We stayed for 3 nights and love this place. The view from the roof-terrace is superb. And the people who run this hotel is very friendly. The breakfast is ok, and it is really in the center of everything in Istanbul. Looking forward to stay here again!

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
