After many years of being loyal to the IHG Priority Club as a Spire Elite member, I have finally decided to give it up and recently moved my hotel loyalty to Marriott Bonvoy. I stayed here in Nov 2020 for a week. The Hotel was a ghost town and totally empty. Yet, they did not bother to upgrade me. My reservation was for a standard room and when I asked to be upgraded, they moved me from the same type of room two floors higher, claiming it was a Deluxe Room. The room and the view was exactly the same as the "Standard" room. It is a huge hotel with numerous suites and larger rooms but like always, the IHG hotels are extremely stingy when it comes to upgrades. They will never do it voluntarily and when asked, they will try to be cute as they were here. And do they offer lounge access or breakfast to their most loyal guests? Of course not. At no IHG hotel in the world. By contrast, Marriott provides complimentary breakfast for its Gold and Platinum members even if the rate does not include breakfast and I have always managed to get a proper upgrade to a suite. My experience here is not isolated, it has been so at every IHG property all over the world. Good bye IHG Priority Club. The room here reminded me of Holiday Inn where I could have stayed at half the rate or even the Crowne Plaza. It was dated and generic from 20 years ago with old style bathroom and fixtures. The breakfast offered was TL 220 which is almost $50 which was more than 50% of my room rate. I declined of course. There are ample places around the neighborhood to have breakfast at a fraction of this cost. Victoria was in charge of the Front Desk and was not too interested in doing anything special for a Spire member. So be it. Never again will I be staying here. Finally, my dear Victoria, please do not bother to respond to this review with your generic, patronizing reply that you write to every review here. If you have nothing original to say, do not bother.…
We moved here from Sultanate Area and stayed 05 Nights it was excellent stay Rooms were very specious comfortable staff was very helpful and courteous very professional and location of Hotel is very good just 05 Minutes walk for Istaqlal street We use to buy Turkish Kabibs by the street highly recommended for families..
You can walk to Galata tower through Taksim street: the touristy spots are all nearby. During Covid times, I was not allowed to order food from outside: there was a hi tech temperature check I had to go through everytime I cane back in. All the towels and toiletries were wrapped: they even had kits for sanitizing which was different from other hotels. I find that this hotel is a bit on the expensive side but that could just be the location. Breakfast was TL200 because i did not include it in the hotel rate. A bit on the high end but the buffet had almost all items from the clotted cream, fresh juice, hot station for omelettes... etc . I liked the Conrad a bit better but thats in Besiktas and not in a super touristy spot.
We had a terrible experience at Intercontinental Istanbul, because of the unhelpful attitude of Victoria at the reception upon our check out. It would have been a good experience given the courtesy of the rest of the staff. Frontdesk's Ece helped us check in with ease. The concierge and other staff like Kerim(?), Burak, and the security team were all courteous, and made us feel welcome. The room itself is spacious, and has a good view of the Bosphorous strait. The shower has good water pressure. The beddings are conducive to a good night sleep. The hotel's "clean promise" program is appreciated; however, the use of plastic bags for the towels, etc. is unnecessary and wasteful. The clean promise can be executed without wasting such materials. Here's the disappointing end to an otherwise good stay at the hotel. We wanted to leave part of our luggage for storage at the hotel; and planned to re-check in three days later, so we could have dinner again at the Safran restaurant to celebrate New Year's Day. It has to be noted that other IHG hotels in Turkey allowed us to have our luggage stored after check-out; and retrieved a few days later. Victoria refused, citing Covid-19 precautions. She wasn't helpful or sympathetic at all when asked for alternatives. All we could hear from her were "Nos," and "I don't knows." Her poor service mindset and heartless judgment made us decide to NEVER GO BACK to Intercontinental Istanbul. There are other hotels to choose from in the area - Divan (local brand), Hyatt, and Hilton, among others.…
I have just spent two nights at the Intercontinental Istanbul hotel located very close to Taksim square. The hotel it’s rather classic but perfectly maintained. Due to COVID situation there were only few guest but absolutely well treated by all the staff . Special attention to breakfast and restaurants staff . The room is a bit to classic but perfectly kept . Bed comfortable. Only two small things that can be improved before the hotels goes for a room renovation. 1/ There are no plugs available on small table next to the bed. So for instance phone cannot be charged at night and kept at you side. 2/ Room temperature was dificult to adjust in my opinion was a bit too cold . For the rest the hotels is excellent. Next time I hope to be able to enjoy the Spa as it was closed due to government Covid regulations.…
