The staff at the Ferman Sultan Hotel were extremely helpful and friendly during our recent stay in Istanbul. They gave us honest and reliable tourist information and all the tours and activities that they recommended were excellent. With their help we were able to make the most of our short stay. The Hotel is in a fabulous location and is... More

This hotel is probably a 2 or 3 star. The property is old, the rooms very basic and they seem a little tired and worn out. There was a little mold in the bathroom/shower. That being said the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is adequate and is on the rooftop. There is a working treadmill in... More

This hotel is in the Sultanahmet District which is a simple and handy walk to the main attractions including The Grand Bazaar. The staff are professional and friendly and we found Abdurrahman and Mahmut most helpful. The breakfast is plentiful and on the terrace which has magnificent sea views. The rooms we rate as average as there appeared to be mould in the... We stayed here for three nights. At first the staff seemed frienly. The airconditioning in the room wasn't working and the room seemed really old and unrenovated yet clean. There was some noise at night from the roof terrace. So far everything was tolerable, but then we left some clothes for them to wash as they advertise a laundry service.... More

Ferman Hotel is located in the Sultanahmet District which I believe is the best area in Istanbul. The hotel offers good basic rooms that are serviceable but not too fancy. The rooms are air-conditioned & serviced everyday. Breakfast is served on the roof which offers nice views of the harbour & some obstructed views of the Blue Mosque. The Hotel... More

A small old hotel in the centre of Old Istanbul. Very central to all historic attractions, Grand Bazar and in an authentic part of the city. Staff couldn't do enough for us and room small but clean and functional.

We stayed here as we wanted to be near the main historical attractions of Istanbul. The hotel itself is small however the rooms are clean, a good size and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Walking to the main attractions takes 10 minutes and there are lots of excellent restaurants nearby. You cannot have a bad meal in Istanbul.... More

We stayed for 3 nights and it was very comfortable. The location of the hotel is close to all the attractions and tram rail station. All good eating joints are within walking distance. Abdurrahman is the go to person at the front desk for all your needs. He is knowledgeable and helpful and speaks English well. He had recommended and... More

Not your big American-type hotel, but a lovely comfortable hotel where the staff is as nice as people could be. Breakfast is eaten on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Bosphorus, and the offerings include local fare such as Turkish yogurt, several types of olives and cheeses, and dried figs and dates (which ours in the USA are dim replicas of).... Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighborhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
